Not much to report since no bloodshed. Spring is here so grass was mowed and plants and tress were planted. Started on the mailbox install.
IMG_0471.jpeg
There will be some horizontal boards with the street number.
More organizing, sorting and adding to the scrap metal pile. Did get two pallets, a milk crate and a couple of 5 gallon buckets emptied. šŸŽ‰

On the way home, found out Batman was in town and likes a Cheby šŸ¤—

Saturday morning the South Bay looked like
IMG_0504.jpeg
Pulled everything in the middle of the floor outside. Stuff on pallets and a tractor makes that easy.
Here’s what 6-7 hours of work accomplished
IMG_0510.jpeg
🤣
Basically Tetris. Arranged the stuff that needs to be sold closest to the door. Also put cabinets and equipment where they will probably live in the future.
A big benefit , I now have good access to cabs, equipment and the pile in the middle.

Another reason for moving everything out is to get the 24ā€ Brake off the ground. Used the tractor to move the brake and stand up the stand I.e. Christine’s battery box.
IMG_0506.jpeg
Won’t mention the two times the brake hit the deck. šŸ™„
Finished the weekend with installing 4 quad outlets along the north wall.
As peaceful as it is at the new shop, I’m just chilled. Yay!

I should never have sold you that Brake. It's making me weep seeing you mistreat it so badly. 🤬

Some light fab work. Aluminum from the scrap bin.
IMG_0577.jpeg
Cutting, drilling, sanding, painting then installed.
IMG_0578.jpeg
A little solar panel on south wall, camera pointing towards drive.
Picked up some auction items yesterday so unloaded and tested them. Kobalt cement mixer and this portable winch. Both worked.
IMG_0581.jpeg
I’ll make up a hanger mount for use with my trailer. Also got some expensive lights for a great price.
Transplanted a tree that was located where a septic system will be installed then called it the day. IMG_0579.jpeg

Just enjoying nature.
IMG_0639.jpeg
And the hot, hurricane prone weather
IMG_0772.jpeg
Just a bunch of odd jobs. After 9 months, I got the trim around the door. Note to self, do this step before the spray foam.
IMG_0793.jpeg
Finished up the mailbox. Those Texaco stools sat unused in the loft for years. Now they are stools and make great sawhorses.

Out with the old
IMG_0894.jpeg
I was tired getting scalped when going in my free shed plus it was full of yard stuff. So brought one of those portable garbage.
IMG_0891.jpeg
Plenty of room, 6’6ā€ wall height and I’ll be able to park the tractor in there if I want.

Also so more stuff Tetris. Due to the economy, can’t afford pallet racks so built a rack out of pallets.
IMG_0883.jpeg
This allowed be group boxes better and gain a little more floor space and boxes are more accessible for going through. Oh it’s 🄵 now.

Yesterday picked up a friend’s zero turn that wouldn’t start. He brought a new one so….
Checked battery, check fuel pump, both were good so remove this.
IMG_0911.jpeg
Pulled the bowl off and found gunk
IMG_0916.jpeg
Cleaned that, then put it back together. Still no startšŸ¤” Checked and cleaned spark plug, no start. 😬 A squirt of starting fluid did the trick for a few seconds. Replacement carb on order.

This morning I finished the last pieces of the portable carport. Would love to know who order August weather in June. 🄵
I also decided to swap my hardware from a Vidmar cab to my oddball Equipto cab. The Equipto is the oddball, it’s painted the color I want all the cabs painted and it’s wider so hopefully all my hardware will go in one cab.
Old bolt drawer
IMG_0919.jpeg
Start of the new using Schaller bins.

IMG_0927.jpeg
Also started moving the overflow and speciality tools from the Equipto to the Lista bench located in the work bay.

Enjoyed our visit Shorty. Thanks for taking the time to drive up from San Diego and spend the afternoon getting to know each other
Thank you for your great hospitality. I really enjoyed getting to know each other. Seeing your place in person…WOW! Seeing your completed projects in person and just how well you finished them was another great treat. A true artist.
And the D&A Diner had Dr. Pepper.

Well I got caught up in the Crowdstrike airline fiasco. Good news, I got home 15 hours later than planned. Bad news got Covid along the way then passed it on to my wife. 😳 Luckily it was like a common flu but just drags on and on.
I felt ok to mow last weekend so fired up the ZT. After two passes, it stopped moving. Ummm. While deciding on the riding mower or truck to tow it to shop, I realized I have a tractor. Got it in the shop and see where the drive belt jumped off. Not looking forward to mowing with the old 42ā€ riding mower, again light bulb went off, duh your tractor has a 60ā€ mower deck. 🤪

While waiting on Little Debby, I got some stuff done. Working on getting a septic system installed and conferring with Septic guy, a good spot is between shop and house location so needed to move my dirt pile.
IMG_1376.jpeg
The new pile seems bigger.
IMG_1378.jpeg
Love the tractor with the bucket. Next was to mow the back part of property not done last week. The old utility pole needs to be removed especially with the new drain field location so removed the panel.
IMG_1382.jpeg
Umm can I get pole out of the ground? A little digging on one side, a push with bucket on both sides, then a chain wrapped around base, voila!!!
IMG_1383.jpeg
I think there’s a safety message in there but can’t figure out what.

No QST but a lot of QYT.

The new location for our drain field passed. Original location the entire drain field had to above the existing terrain. With this, I need to move a water spigot and the pile of partly burnt tree stumps.
The mule sure made it easier.
IMG_1424.jpeg
One was a drag
IMG_1425.jpeg
The two largest ones are pretty big and have a lot of clay in their roots so heavy. Broke out the saw to trim the trunk off the one.

Next up was grading out the spot where the utility pole was and the burn pile.
IMG_1430.jpeg
IMG_1429.jpeg
I ended up with a compact pile which should burn better and the dark dirt is what was in the roots.
IMG_1431.jpeg
IMG_1432.jpeg
Hopefully tomorrow I can get the spigot moved.

Another sweat soaked day in the yard. Rented a trencher. First run was for the line from shop to intersecting the existing waterline. Trenched to where I thought it would intersect but nothing. I didn’t know the exact path of the waterline, so I did several cross trenches. Luckily when I hit the PVC, it bounced until one time it didn’t. From the break I ran a new path towards my first trench. Extending the first trench 15 more inches I found the waterline I was looking for. Errr but happy I found it.
IMG_1448.jpeg
I was able to lay 95% of the PVC , just need the connections at each end and repair the break.

Finished up the water line connections and repair. Where I broke the existing pipe, I found a really weird setup.
IMG_1566.jpeg
On the left is a short sleeve and on the right is a larger pipe. At first I thought they just shoved the 3/4 into what I assumed was 1ā€ pipe. Then I noticed the larger pipe had a slot cut longwise hence the blue tape. Rutro more digging unearthed this weird section.
IMG_1569.jpeg
Out with the old, in with the new and….
IMG_1578.jpeg
Shop has a spigot.
To fill the trenches, I experimented with a couple of hack grader accessories.
IMG_1579.jpeg
IMG_1580.jpeg
They both worked…kinda and both had the same issue. I couldn’t see them. The theory worked so will see if I can make something useful.

Septic system is going in. Because of the clay and location to the spring where Creature to the Black Lagoon was filmed, I have to put in an enhanced nutrient reducing system.
IMG_1727.jpeg
IMG_1705.jpeg
A curse and a benefit is the nice lime rocks that get dug up.
IMG_1749.jpeg
The rock on the left is worth $200-300.
Last chore was to organize the garden shed so I can store the kayak there instead of the shipping container.
