Knipex posted a new fall update today announcing the release of new sizes of the TwinGrips, here :
Interesting to see that the jaws of the new models have been beefed up (compare tips and machined surfaces of the jaw sides in the first few seconds of that video). Maybe too many failures with the original? Here's the standalone video.
IMO it may be just the renderings & the examples shown. I've had a number of TwinGrips in hand, they all varied in grinds. The 2 that I personally own are different. Not only TwinGrips, Cobras & Alligators (and probably others I haven't seen personally) varied in jaw grinds, some very inconsistent & at times poorly ground as well. I've returned/exchanged a couple because of this.Interesting to see that the jaws of the new models have been beefed up (compare tips and machined surfaces of the jaw sides in the first few seconds of that video). The Twingrips use a box joint, were the one leg sits Between the split other leg, allowing for more twisting torque. These are obviously going to sell well, but I always thought of them more for removing tiny screws, not full size bolts. The big pair goes up to 20 mm, but I really don't see how you could possibly generate enough torque with a pair of pliers to remove a bolt that large. I don't believe for a second that someone didn't break free the bolts on that engine before the demonstration.
Still, the guys at Engineer must have felt a disturbance in the force this afternoon.
If they continue to reach meme status like the Cobras, they may release yet additional sizes.Just received the 150 and it’s smaller than expected, it’s like desk drawer or pocket carry size. I should have paid closer attention to the side by side size comparison.
Wish they would have made a 180mm
I’m hoping for a 22” pair.If they continue to reach meme status like the Cobras, they may release yet additional sizes.
That's what they are counting on. Every marketing person's dream... The can sling a pile of ******** and people don't care. They must have learned from appleSo I see some marketing exaggeration in the demo, but that doesn't mean I won't buy the tools.
The difference is that the amount of people who will watch a plier demonstration video is extremely limited compared to people who watch the apple ads. That's what they are counting on.
