Built a display stand for the wife's craft fair.

Then crawled around under her grand Cherokee to try and figure out where the slight oil drip is coming from. It's not dripping much.

I almost think the oil plug is loose, but there's oil all over the backside of the pan. I almost wonder if the pan gasket is leaking.

I'll spray it with a water hose and gunk off this weekend and see if I can see something more definitive.

Stared at this shop for a while and decided to build some loft storage and beef up the rafter ties. I doubled the tie in the forefront and added a spacer. Added a ledger on the rear wall. Some of the rafters aren't even fastened and this has been standing for over 80 years. There isn't a ridge beam either which isn't necessary but it's the first I've seen. The way the vice was attached to the bench is interesting :ROFLMAO: Scored a Record #3 though.

Debating on doing the walls with 1.5" rigid foam and shiplap. You can see the sample board tacked up. Any thoughts/ideas?
I would like the hand hewn posts and beams visible. I'm also doing a layer of rigid foam on the outside at some point. The ceiling will be R20 Roxul covered in shiplap.

Earlier this week one of my LiftMaster 8500 garage doors started to move only about a foot and the wall controller displayed a 1-5 error. Today the door company replaced the opener (under warranty). Since LiftMaster doesn't make the 8500 any more, the new install is a model 98022.

The biggest difference between the older and newer models are that the 98022 does not use a roller that rides along the cable. Below you can see the 8500 on the left and the 98022 on the right.

Huh? I don’t see the roller you’re talking about.

And are theses pic from your garage? Or from an image search? I only ask cause they are on different sides of the door.

You can see one of the screw holes where the roller used to be on the right. If you use your x-ray vision you can look through the curved rail on the left, the black thing is the roller on the other door.

You can mount them either side. Much like you can certain conventional openers.
Ya, I get that. The part I’m wondering about, is did he get the new opener moved to the other side of the door?

I’m sorry, I’m even more confused now..lol Doesn’t the cable go from the bottom of the door, and just wrap around the big pulley as the door rises?

I don’t know what a pulley bolted in the track would do? Are you sure the one on the left isn’t just bolted to the track for extra support?

Headed to rural king to see if they have concrete blocks. 45 minutes from home.

Kinda ran into my girlfriend’s best friends husband. Said he had as many blocks as I needed at a property he is cleaning up.

I grabbed a fewIMG_4957.jpeg

So I could lift parts of the house level IMG_4958.jpeg

I know it’s the wrong wood. It’s warped BAD. I’m hoping that by doing this now, when I can get back to it Sunday, the house will kinda settle again. I’ll replace with a different type of wood, just this was what I have on hand. I was going to pick up some hardwood at the store, but ended up getting the blocks free elsewhere lol

Started fabrication of a hitch for the leaf blower. Trying to figure out if I can find pneumatic tires instead of the hard plastic.
HF has nice non-pneumatic wheels n tires. I've got them on anything that doesn't absolutely need pneumatics. Garden cart, hand trucks, wheelbarrow, etc. It stopped the wasting a day, trying to revive flat tires after a year of non-use.

Here's a view with both openers in separate images. I have a total of three doors (see my avatar) with jackshaft openers on all of them. The 8500 (left image) in on one of my doors and the new 98022 (right image) is on another.

The 8500 has a spring-loaded roller that contacts the door's support cable. I'm assuming this provided an input to tell the opener's logic that the door was moving. The 98022 does not have this roller and is, in my opinion, a much cleaner look without the roller.

If you use some baby powder you should be able to easily locate where the leak is coming from, spray the area with brakeleen and puff the powder on the suspected areas, and wait.

Not exactly a motion detectors, but a cable slack detector. If the arm moves due to cable slack, the motor operator is disabled.

The new model probably senses motor load and if it's too low, disables the motor as well.

Swapped the o-rings on my machine; apparently that was the fix.

20241017_104252.jpg

Center hole measured within .003" and the overall length was withon .001" on one side and .002" on the other side

20241017_111346.jpg

The 8 degrees of bevel on a single side is now gone. The worst side is roughly 3 degrees which is within tolerance.

Lastly, replaced the dead disc reader in my Sega Saturn with an ODE.

You're just jealous.

@LWB , cool shed, no matter what the hamster said.

Kay, thank you. Moving forward I'd like to refer to this as the "Woodshop" "Shop" if you will. lol :p

I'm going to be spending a lot of time in there and love the age/history. I've never had more than a 8 x 12 shed. This is 10 x 22 It's monstrous! lol

On top of that I have a 20 x 20 barn for the track car and gardening stuff.

Moved a bunch of stuff around so I can get the ZRX11 out of the garage on Sunday, Started giving it a clean up, waiting on the Colinite Insulator Wax to soften, it's sat outside in the sun.

Emptied the RoundUp Hudson sprayer down the crapper, gave it a good rinse out, will be filling it with bug killer (the sprayer, not the crapper).

I think that is a slack sensor, if the cable goes slack the opener stops.

Which one did you buy? We're looking at them.
Not me. Much as I'd like one, I'm having trouble spotting it in the shop. This is a pair of Senville full heat pump units for the KWA-MHW. I've installed several of these units. They seem to be pretty good. So are the Pioneers, Mitsubishis, Mr Cools.

No matter which you buy, if you're intending to hang it on the wall, get the white flip down brackets with the cross rail, not the cheesy stainless shelf bracket ones. I've had the stainless ones collapse n dump the compressor unit on the ground, ten feet below.

In, out, in, out…

Making progress. It’s just me tonight. So I’m going a bit slower. I have to clean the old glue, and add wood/furr out as I go. It’s slow going, but I now have floor laid to under where the wall needs to go back in.

IMG_4965.jpeg
IMG_4966.jpeg

I’m still 8 pieces of Advantech short (probably get some this weekend) but if all I do is get the wall built, I can get my living room back together, sans floor covering. I have to do the rest of the house before I can do floor covering. I can do inside finish work over winter as long as the house is sealed up.

Wish me luck! LMAO

Before dad died three years ago we’d planned to bring the big compressor to my new shop. After his death life happens and it got put on the back burner.

Started yesterday planning infrastructure for the compressor and a dust collector. They are going under a 20x20 covered portion of my shop. I’m building two closets around them. Dad had two sets of storage locker doors from AT&T with metal door frame he had scavengered I plan on using.

Spent afternoon measuring and planning. Will need to cut holes in side of building for electrical 10/2 and 12/2 along with dust collection and air lines.

This pic is the compressor will move soon. Get a guy with a lift gate to move it. Pic taken in dads garage.
