I am starting a new project of making a miniature Wilton bullet vise. I got a real Wilton 825 vise, disassembled it, took all measurements and made a 3D model. Then 3D printed parts 1/4 of a full scale, tested that everything fits together. Next step was making silicone molds, cutting the molds and filling it with wax. It took a few nonth. Yesterday using investment casting I got a pair of bronze sets. I am goung to machine these cast parts and finally build a miniature Wilton vise. It is my first posting but I will frequently report my progress in the future.

There will be a market for those if you want to sell some.

Umm, nice workmanship, but do you think maybe the folks at Wilton might have something to say about this regarding copyright infringement?

Just wondering...
It would be “Trademark” or Patent infringement, not copyright infringement.
The patent infringement doesn’t come into play, because any Patents on the standard Wilton bullet vise expired decades ago.
Wilton may still have a Trademark for the shape and look of the vise, and would also have a Trademark on the “Wilton” name and logo designs, and those can theoretically last indefinitely.

The Trademark infringement would only really come into play, if the miniature Wilton Bullet vises were sold or used for commercial purposes, although in the USA, Wilton could probably still sue a person, requiring a costly legal response, but this would only likely occur if the vises were sold.

legal action with unlimited funds.
if they wanted to.
A friend was opening a business many years ago, with a name reference to another well known (national) company name, same type of business. he got official letter telling him to cease & desist or they would sue for whatever . He talked to his lawyer & the lawyer basically said, they can't win in court, but they can drag it on for years and sink you financially ; change your name .
I think he was using similar colours as well

The ultimate copyright silliness would be Harley Davidson copyrighting the ''chugga--chugga'' sound.

Unless they already sell something that small, would not be surprised if the company did nothing, about selling replica miniatures.

Other miniature bullet vises, and kits for them, have been made. Haven't heard of any complaints from Wilton about them.

I could actually see a use case for a PETG vise for fishing lures or jewelry, etc. Obviously the screw, nut, and probably handle would still have to be steel.

I will list items when ready. So far I am in pilot stage. I tried selling miniature Stanley No.35 transitional plane for made by me but nobody wanted to pay $500.

Have you seen the video series on YouTube from Ox Tools from some years ago where he builds a baby bullet vise? It may be worth checking out for tips.
I spent so many hours watching Tom's incredible ability bring that project to fruition.

Some progress with my mimiature vise project. I made a cutter to cut bar ends for the main screw. I also made a gig for the vise base. Now I can straighten both flanges and clean the surface used for clamping the vise. Next steps are cutting a groove for the key, broaching corresponding groove plis milling reliefs for jaws. Note the screws that hold retaining plate are #00-90!

I continue with jigs. Made one for turning the bottom of the vise flat. In addition I got a nice set of broaches with bushings and immediately tested the 3/32" broach. It works!

I cut the slot for 3/32" key. The key stock is ordered. I also experiment with serrations for the jaws. A tooltip is not sharp enough. Need to try another one. The jaw is 0.625" long.
