I’ve admired your handy work, but also wondered what it was you were making. I see now that they are bed reinforcements, but I’m still not clear on what that means? lol

So, 2nd and 3rd Gen Tacoma's have composite beds.

Anyway, vehicles as we all know, allow for a bit of flexing. It's the norm.

However, adding any type of weight on the bed such as a rack, camper shell, and other various items can add dynamic weight which can attribute to one's bedsides to bow outward and even crack.

A more traditional item offered by lots of manufacturers are these L shaped brackets; here's the first set I ever made for someone when I first learned how to weld and worked at my first fab shop.

And here's a before and after installation on the person's truck I made them for.

Before.

After.

That's a metal bed by the way, which was quite a bit more rigid than those on newer trucks.

The set I make is different in that it is less intrusive so you don't lose any bed space, while still giving you a mount to act as a tie down or the sort.

The design isn't my own though, it's a remake of one that went out of production yet has a lot of demand so now I make them to sell.

Nice! I had no idea they had a composite bed. Thanks for the explanation.

Absolutely!

Most times I'm cheaper than Send Cut Send, not always though.

I don't have laser CNC, or industrial press brakes as you can see from the pics.

My gig is simply, I'm just a regular dude working out of his garage that enjoys metal work. Not everyone has the ability to work CAD to make their own design for cutting out for SCS. And sometimes people want to deal with one person to describe what it is they need which is where I come in.

I do a lot of one-off stuff for people.

The above items are just one of my most popular items I sell mean for a ton of Toyota truck owners.
Neat projects!

If you haven't already, start a fab thread to keep all your posts together.

I like that press and fab table.

In and out. In and out.

Got some rockwool in the wall IMG_5017.jpegIMG_5018.jpeg

Got some OSB up in the living room (main focus) IMG_5019.jpeg

And even a panel on the inside of the bedroom.IMG_5020.jpeg Haven’t hung OSB yet on the dividing wall, as it’s break time. But maybe later or tomorrow. I’m debating on if I should run power into this wall for the bedroom. In a perfect world, the bedroom TV (if there will be one) would go on this wall too. So any noise between the 2 cancel each other out lol (I know it doesn’t work like that. I’m kidding I’m kidding)

Might clean up the garage and put tools away. I’m tapped for materials until maybe Tuesday or Wednesday. I should have time then. I’d go today but the Amish place is closed on Sundays. Oh well.

Fixed the damage to the security man-door I did a while back when I had to break into the house because the power was out.
Replaced the screw/nut on the F350 bug deflector that had gone AWOL. Then decided the spiffy replacement looked way better than the seven remaining (mismatched) screws/nuts so replaced all 8 of them.

Minimal and light stuff as I'm fighting a flareup of a gingival abscess that was declared by the dentist gone on Monday, and flared back with a vengeance yesterday...

Organized interim storage for my portable nickle plating setup. Prepping for removing the kitchen window AC for the winter. Waiting for help to do the actual removal.

New rear rotors, pads AND brake shoes for the sienna. No real surprises other than the caliper carrier being massively over-tightened by the last wrench that touched it. Eh, the lighter duty Bosch impact didn’t touch it, so, yeah, WAY too tight. The larger M18 wasn’t even breathing hard.

Then I bored out the hubs fora couple of new rototiller wheels. 1” axle shaft, but the fabricators in china were apparently unfamiliar with the concept. The largest twist drill I have was 1”, but that didn’t allow enough clearance. Bezos dropped off the 26mm drill bit this morning. Done.

If you're not on fire, are you even a welder?

You ain’t a welder till your frayed jeans being on fire doesn’t stop you from finishing a nice bead..lol

Pro tip, when welding above your head, keep your mouth closed..lol Slag don’t taste good at all.
Ok I think you might need to be the next Jeff Foxworthy. Instead of “you might be a redneck” your tag line will be “are you even a welder if? “ Lol

Are you even a welder if …you can’t take a Corning ware casserole dish out of the oven with your bare hands.

Are you even a welder if …you don't have a permanent dent in your forehead from your welding helmet?

Are you even a welder if …you don’t have burn holes in all your work shirts?

Are you even a welder if …you haven’t done the owe owe owe dance cause a hot piece of splatter went down your shirt?

Man I think I’m on to something here, make sure to thank me when you‘re doing your world tour..lol

Earlier this year I put in a music system in the garage...
I jerry-rigged the wiring for the speakers... Lots of zip ties across the ceiling... With wires drooping everywhere in the garage...
It was way too hot for me to climb up in the space over the garage to hide the wiring above the ceiling...
Well... Today was the day... Got the speaker wired correctly...
Done...

Never miss the chance to run an electrical plug on wall. You will wish you did in about 2 weeks after its all buttoned up.

I did decide to. It’s roughed in for now. But it’s going to be tied into the living room circuit (that’s how it was before). It’s not wired or anything, just the wires ran. Maybe tomorrow, if I have time after work, I’ll wire it up. IMG_5023.jpeg

I know my gaps are off on the OSB. But this is getting covered by drywall.

My wall was plumb. But the existing walls weren’t lol. Whoops.

We’re about to get some snow tomorrow; some guessers say 3.4”, other guessers say 8+”.

So in the time it took to pull the TurnipTruck out of the big bay and back it into the lift bay…
IMG_4910.jpeg

…and excavate the Winter Project boat out of the lean to and back it into the big bay, we got a little color on the grass:

Rain is forecast for next week, so this particular dumping may not stick around.

Removed the bagger from the riding mower in the shed. In the shop, pulled the mower deck, checked the oil, aired down the tires for traction when moving leaves. Staged the mower, sweeper, and trailer under the awning next to the shop for quick after work access this week on the days it isn't raining.

When I did my little shop at home, I ran a line of plugs at counter height (Around 4' off floor) and a row of plugs at floor height (about 18" off floor). There are plugs roughly every 4' along the wall. Several different circuits. It's so great to always have an outlet close.

Finally got around to starting the **** blaster sub box my son wanted for his megacab dodge. Not quite done yet. Need to router it all yet.
It’s always nice when you have a project that needs a new tool!! Decided to buy a dewalt 20V cordless router from Home Depot. If you buy just the tool you get a free battery it says. They showed they had 2 in stock but they couldn’t find them when I went. So, the new tool purchase and sub box will have to wait!!

Prepping to get a new engine in the sled.

You’re making me miss home. 36 years in Florida, and the thing I miss most is my sleds. Yes, I miss my “aa da cat” and my Polaris more than I miss family..lol

For non massholes, the word “aa da cat” translated into English, is Arctic Cat, and sled means snow mobile. They’re wicked pissa kid.:badteeth:

Mounted the fan brace in the travel trailer. The more I look at this fan and how it broke, the more I think I should buy a new one and remount it upside down. It would have less angle of adjustment downward, but we don't need much.

If you look close, you can see where the mount meets the back of the fan is what broke. The fan falls forward from the crack and pulls the fan so it keeps falling forward.

The brace is there to take stress off the crack. I also tried to use some thick ca to glue the crack. The same CA is used to glue the printed parts to the fan.

Then I checked on the son's lemon plant. I adjusted the amount of water it's getting.
