I’ve admired your handy work, but also wondered what it was you were making. I see now that they are bed reinforcements, but I’m still not clear on what that means? lol
So, 2nd and 3rd Gen Tacoma's have composite beds.
Anyway, vehicles as we all know, allow for a bit of flexing. It's the norm.
However, adding any type of weight on the bed such as a rack, camper shell, and other various items can add dynamic weight which can attribute to one's bedsides to bow outward and even crack.
A more traditional item offered by lots of manufacturers are these L shaped brackets; here's the first set I ever made for someone when I first learned how to weld and worked at my first fab shop.

And here's a before and after installation on the person's truck I made them for.
Before.

After.

That's a metal bed by the way, which was quite a bit more rigid than those on newer trucks.
The set I make is different in that it is less intrusive so you don't lose any bed space, while still giving you a mount to act as a tie down or the sort.
The design isn't my own though, it's a remake of one that went out of production yet has a lot of demand so now I make them to sell.
