Been losing a mouse battle in the garage. put down a snap trap with a blink camera, they ate all the bait, put down a glue trap, mouse jumped over it. Put down a second one today, and the mouse did a long jump over both.

Need a motion activated machine gun
Place trap along a wall. No bait needed. They don't see very well, so they travel along the wall.

Not my garage, but outside my MIL's. She is selling her late husband's 1975 Corvette convertible to my eldest daughter and their 2004 Corvette convertible to my youngest daughter. Both have been in storage for the last nearly 3 years, and not a lot of use before his death in April 2022. I promised both girls I would detail their cars before they got them. Yesterday, got both washed and clay barred the black '75. I used Griot's synthetic clay bar mitt with their Speed Shine product, and you could hear the grit in the paint being removed. Next up is a polish to remove all the swirl marks, followed by a good wax job. Hopefully, today . . . . . . . .

I've had good luck with the electronic traps.

You forget, he’s removing a cast iron transfer case on his back. With a lift, maybe you’re right, but on the floor, I’ll pick plugs every time.lol
Thanks for the compliment!

***** I am a guy that damn will try anything myself before farming it out. Very little I want to farm out on what pretty much is a lifelong project. The next one is for her and will start off as a way nicer project and nowhere near as modified as my ****. For her I just want it to be nice to take to the Mall once in a while for the weekly car shows, be reliable and decent on fuel and stop on a dime.

as for lifting that on my back…..yeah sorry I am 5’10” 178 lbs.

already got plans for a lifting cradle to put it all back in…..need that as I want to clock the t case up for a happy medium above the skidplate that will go on.

Grabbed the mower key and mulched leaves in the back yard. Then continued disassembling the front suspension on the Mustang so I can clean and paint. This time I wrapped the ratchet strap around the bottom of the jack and top of the fenderwell to be able to compress the spring without lifting the car off the jack stands. Got it all apart, swept up the mess, bagged and marked the small parts and bolts for each side, and put away tools for the day.

I kept busy last winter during daylight savings time making cutting boards for my family and friends. Quite a few left overs and my sister suggested a butcher block table. I watched a few videos, a bunch actually and have been working on it on and off. I have it in its final dimensions. its 22"x30"x5.5 and the legs are 4.5x5 and some change. No rhyme or reason to the pattern or sizes, just making best use of what I have left over. It's all domestic hardwood, walnut, hickory, maple, white oak, and cherry. The only lumber I specifically bought for the project is the 8/4 hickory for the legs. Snagged it in Abington VA from a local supplier, "Living Knot Lumber" great guys and a family business. My goal is no mechanical fasteners, and no shelf near the floor. I have plan, and will see if it works...I'm learning as I go using old tools and machines.

698140FB-99CC-4ECF-9454-9480AC51CCD0.jpeg Twin stick side of my triple stick bracketry is done short of one clevis being the style.

Doubled cable shifter bracket is bolted on but i got conflicting info on where the selector shaft is to point. I don’t got that thread nut for the selector shaft anyways, either 3/8 NFT or M10. Will double check threads before we go out in the morning if we do. Then I will play with the Black box some more.

really will clean up the garage before all that though.

If I still had my 06 F150 w/ 5.4 I would let you come do the plugs next time. ;)
I recently did the plugs on my 05 F150 5.4L & they were not as bad as I read, I just took my time & they all came out without breaking. The biggest pain were the back ones on either side where the back of the engine is below the firewall.

Had just enough time to get the paint correction on the ‘75 Corvette my eldest is buying from her grandma. Her Bampa died 2-1/2 years ago and she wants this to remember and honor him by. Car was originally white with oyster interior, but Jack wanted it black.
It hasn’t had a lot of love cosmetic wise for several years. I cleaned it up and used Griot’s synthetic clay bar mitt with speed shine to remove the surface contaminants. What I was left with was a baby’s **** smooth surface, but a ton of swirl marks. Griot’s Boss correcting cream on a DA polisher did a great job of removing almost all the imperfections.

Very happy with the result. I ran out of time, and will get this waxed with Griot’s 3 in 1 ceramic wax over the weekend.
I got lucky in that the 2004 Corvette my youngest is likewise buying had no visible swirl marks after doing the decontamination process. Now, the waxing begins.
Finished pics to come after I put in the work.

Spent a little time at the house, and without any adult supervision decided it was time to install the Holley LED headlamps I got as a birthday present back in August. Was originally going to install them in the 289 FIA replica, but decided to not play musical cars and install them in the 65 Tiger instead.
Original Sylvania headlight on the left, new LED on the right, a noticeable difference running just off the battery

Quick shot a few nights ago, also in the garage, again running just off the battery, bright enough to give a phantom secondary light below the bumper. That, or the car is possessed :FIREdevil
headlight2.jpg
They are much brighter than the originals, draw far less power through the Lucas headlight switch. Can't wait to get it out on the road and see how much farther I can see in front of the car. Originals were good for about 40-50 feet at best.

So much I refuse to have the kayak in the garage, it can live on top of the ‘Adventurer’ cargo trailer….but if I had the room and height that you do, I am sure I would! Same for the bikes.

so much easier to get that call, we hitting up the bike trails, or heading out to Spruce Coulee, and grab what you need!

I have RaceDeck flooring in my garage. About 1” lip at garage to driveway. If I give a little too much gas going in the RaceDeck slides. Finally got tired of that. Got a couple tapcons and fender washers. Screwed the row at the dooor down. Not snug, just enough that the floor won’t slide if I hit the gas too hard pulling in.

Nice Sunbeam!

My folks were stationed in England ~1960-63. Dad bought a new Sunbeam Alpine, left hand drive, red exterior, black leather interior, spoked knock offs, tonneau cover, soft top, hard top, and not sure what else. Shipped it stateside when we left. Sold it in 1970 when we went to Germany to live for 5 years.

Love that car with the big fins! I was born in '62 and that car of Dad's made a hell of impression on me!

Pressed out the bushings in upper and lower control arms and removed the ball joints for the Mustang. The ball joints didn't look too bad, but the 48 year old bushings definitely needed replacement. Some of the new parts came in yesterday, but still waiting a few items and need to clean and paint the control arms before it goes back together.

Went out to the shop to watch football and clean and my circa 2006 rear projection TV won't turn on :(

So now I'm inside watching football and pouting. I'll probably go back out to the shop later. I really need to get some cleaning done.
Woohoo! TV lived to play another day.

I unplugged it for a bit and let everything reset. It powered up.

I watched some football and cleaned some of the shop. My son helped me clean until he got distracted.

In and out for tools and hardware as I finally got back to my new "Office" space in the house, and after the baseball "shrine" was packed and the set of Curio shelves that supported it removed, I hung a new IKEA floating shelf, my old rustic "tiny tools" shelf with the antique wench hangers under it, and the curio cabinet that was behind my easy chair on my old spot and is not behind and to the right of the same chair.

Lots of Tetris going on, and lot more to go as I hang pics, art, and artifacts on the walls
