I found a Stanley branded tool kit with this handle, one 3/8in ratchet head, one 1/4 hex bitdriver head and a dozen assorted hex screwdriver bits for $19 at Jaeger Lumber, package lists COO as Taiwan. I didn't take a photo, fairly sure it's discontinued but that should put to bed any thoughts that this is made in the USA.

blackhawk hasnt had any domestic made tools in a long long time. those sets use to be all over ebay cheap, i only passed when i noticed the metric sets never came up and were expensive to source from other retailers. Didnt make a whole lot of sense to me to get that whole thing for $30 then have to pay 3-4x that to get the missing metric pieces.

The nearby Home Depot is running their Husky ratcheting screwdrivers, stubby adjustable wrenches, and stubby combination 1/4-3/8 ratchets for 83 cents each. They're not on the Home Depot site - must be discontinued.

They also had stubby hammers for around a buck and a half, if you have a use for a stubby hammer.

Standard sizes are 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16. Metric sizes are 10, 12, 13, 14. Price should be good in all stores, I found the sale when I was in a store.

I nosed through Overstock.com; it is NOT a happy place for tools. It's the final resting place for Chinesiness. The only quality brand I could find on anything, was Hitachi.

http://www.overstock.com/search?key...33&sortOption=Top+Sellers&refinebrand=Hitachi

I recall looking there a few years ago, and finding that everything was overpriced and over-marketed. Since then they seem to have eliminated the few real "overstock" items. Many of the tools are Chinese made items with their house brand added, the same quality that you find at clothing stores around Christmas and Fathers Day.

Almost every tool set has this feature point:

"Tools are used by professional mechanics and industrial tradesmen."

You can be certain of the care taken when you read

"the most common ASE and metric sizes"

I just typed in gearwrench and the 70% off and got:

7 peice ball hex set SAE 3/8 dr set for $7.02
3 peice torx set 3/8 dr for $4.04
3/8 dr long ball hex 3mm for $4.56

Not a bad deal!

Re Amazon, Is there anything you can do after you buy something and they reduce the price. I'm tired of the way their prices go up and down.
Is there anyway to know when the price will bottom out.

beyond simply adding it to your cart and monitoring it, no. There are sites dedicated to tracking prices [i've found them all to be inaccurate for anything but the most popular items] and you could set up an RSS feed notifying you of a change if you really wanted to but i dont think its worth the work.

Overstock used to sell some Bahco tools

A lot of Bahco sold in the states is Taiwan. At least so far as the sockets and some of the ratchets are concerned. The rest is similar if not exactly the same as Williams. Thats Snap-On's doing. If overstock did carry their stuff i'm sure it was largly the asian imports.
