Think of a number less than zero! Hahaha
I've never had the displeasure of using 671 or anything like it. I also can't speak for all manufacturers, but at least Raco lists all of the boxes of that shape as handy boxes whether there is a bracket or not.I saw a work order once that specified a bunch of RACO 671s... not quite what I would call a "handy box" but I guess RACO had a different idea. To me a "handy box" was always a surface mount box with absolute **** volume.
Once in a while a 4X4 won't fit and that is when I use an 8670 and it will be for one conduit whether it's a switch or receptacle, even a GFCI will fit. It seems to happen about once or twice a year and that isn't bad.Honestly if people would just use 4S boxes everywhere...
That's a deep box, they run about $1.50 at the supply house. I thought you had a standard 1-1/2" deep box like a Raco 189. I only use the deep boxes (Raco 232) when there are a bunch of wires or for 30 and 50 amp receptacles.
Bu t they look sort of clunky for exposed work. There are covers for handy boxes. Switch, decorator, single and duplex receptacle, and blank.
I didn't say they looked good. My reply was to someone stating that regular plastic covers would have to be used, which would look even worse.Bu t they look sort of clunky for exposed work.
I had some but ripped them out and replaced them for aesthetics. And nobody ever accused me of being the least bit artistic.
What an awesome idea. I wonder if there is enough airflow to allow #14 on a 20 amp breaker, maybe even a 30???? Imma keep that in mind going forward.

That would be handy.
