This branding iron may possible be used for some other purpose than livestock?

My first serious thought was equipment, but what material would take a brand other than leather and wood?

I can see wooden crates being branded.

That has to be for branding wood.

I vote wooden crates . GE was big in power generation equipment and industrial motors - likely transformers and such,

I don't see power poles as I don't ever recall seeing them as a power generation supplier.

Made my last trip down-valley on the honey-hole tour for a while--both are closed for the next month:

54272278839_15b8547a35_b.jpg

More useless junque!

Kan't Twist 1" clamp--because I don't have one.

P&C and Snappy RA Offset screwdrivers.

Pricker from an old file card--anyone need one?

Unmarked CI file handle, missing the clamp--I think I can fab one.

Plus a not-pictured Peets boot dryer--I can never have too many of those.

$10 total.

The knurl on the old sockets matches that on the one I picked up earlier in the month:
8-point socket.jpg
The pricing was way higher than it used to be. I hope this was just an experiment, or the checkout person (who seemed inexperienced) wasn't willing to make a volume discount like usual.

That Proto R-2795 broaching looks like this:

It must be for a special application.

Today I hit the second day of a local estate sale. There were some good items left, probably because the sale company has a habit of overpricing. It was below freezing this morning, which may have inspired them to move stuff! $40.00 well spent.

I grabbed this parts cleaner basket to carry my loot in. At the checkout, he said to just take it! The Bonney 7/8 combo is for scale. Nice big basket.

The basket will require about 11 inches inside diameter inside and 15 inches tall. I believe that carburetor cleaner used to be sold in tall buckets for this. There were at least a couple of more baskets there, and I intend to return tomorrow morning for 1/2 price day! They said that they will be eager to deal tomorrow afternoon on everything that is still there.

#HS-5K Radiator Specialty Co., Charlotte, NC (Now ""RSC Chemical Solutions") "Hydro-Seal" carburetor cleaner - 5-gallon container with dip basket.
Standard carton quantity: ONE.

I had a bucket in the back room of the Yelm store. Dropped an aluminum check ball into it and couldn't fish it out with a magnet (of course), so I stupidly stuck my arm down in there and grabbed it.

About three days later, all the skin on my left arm crackled - like an old China plate - and then fell off in little pieces. Took about three months for it all to grow back and look normal again.

Nasty stuff. Cleaned those carburetors, though! (y)

On Friday morn, I too braved the cold and hit the sale near Provincial. And boy, was it cold! Anyway, here is what I found:
54273180856_f5ebc42be4_b.jpg
As Provincial said, the pricing at this sale was over the top. $80 for a 1/4" Snap-on ratchet? I will pass. But there was a lot of unpriced merch, and they were ready to deal when I got there, so I picked up a mixed Armstrong and Proto set of hex sockets in flying lady tin, and an almost complete set of MAC 1/4" metric impacts. And when I was picking these up, I grabbed a small box to hold them in, and low and behold, this was the box:
54273466173_26c21c4820_b.jpg
A dirty but intact Proto puller box. This is my favorite part of the day. Anyway, $20 total.

After that, little dog Pepperoni and I hit the dog park, and then headed off to another sale, which, while it mentioned tools, did not show any pics of them. But, here is what I got for $6:
54273602945_f4b361b871_b.jpg
Armstrong hex socket, small crow bar, MAC 1/4" driver and extension, misc. 3/8" drive metric hex sockets (Wright, Proto, Snap-on), MAC DBE, MAC metric combos, Armstrong rachet adaptor, MAC sockets, Armstrong wedge, Martin 8oz ball pein head. A little crustier than I usually pick up, but should clean up nicely. I will circle back on that sale today, see if there is anything I missed.

Hit a semi permanent Barn Sale in town, usually once a month they are open. This was the first time they were open since the beginning of December.

Ended up with some steel wool, oil tins, most of a can of BLO, Pioneer Seed Igloo Jug, Berol Giant pencil Sharpener, 15” Diamond Duluth marked adjustable, 5 Best Western Ashtrays, lathe rest, tap holder, 3/8 SK ratchet, Tweco work clamp, 4” Proto adjustable, and a small machinists hammer. I gave $20 for the whole lot.

IMG_9079.jpeg

I passed on quite a bit.
There were several Craftsman Machinist's boxes, none in great shape and/or missing the flip up front cover. Kennedy bottom cabinet that was too rusty for me to be interested in.
Snap-On KRA-58B 9 Drawer was decent but....missing a small drawer. If the price was right and I knew I could find a drawer, I probably would have considered it.
The only one I thought about asking about was a small Park P23 (I think), it was in good shape, I just don't need a box that size.

I could have dug around all day and found some SK Sockets, and there were a few other older adjustable wrenches that I thought about, but didn't have to have.

Hit a garage sale while I was out and about. It was pretty picked over, but I did get a Blackhawk breaker bar and a cool old Hinsdale set. 3/8 drive and labeled a 13j. All the sockets are there and the crossbar. Looks like it’s just missing the breaker bar. Oddly enough, it includes a 21/32” socket. I don’t recall seeing that size in 3/8 drive.

HS Flea today plus one estate sale and a few TOO''s which were dudds, only he FM and ES paid off.

Smalls at the HS Flea:

Partial model, - has the gun only, orange line - going into camp gear, a tiny "anvil" 1 oz total weight, and made in England (could it be a Peter Wright?) and a pair of Starrett compound crimpers with adjustable jaws. these are NOT Bernard/Sargent made; those grips are solid steel, not formed sheet metal, $2 for those, I wasn't leaving them behind.

-37mm-Modle-starrett-crimpers-Camp-line-1-oz-anvil.jpg

$20 for a Hy-Score Mod 806 .177 Spring gun, missing at least 2 screws, but hopefully nothing MIA inside, and fixable. Probably not a High end gun, but not a bad one quality wise - made in Germany for Hy-Score by DIANA and is the same as a DIANA 15 from what I read

B2-Hy-score-Spring-gun.jpg

And the Estate sale; $2 here - Mostly full quart of Penetrol, a Sears rifle slip-on **** pad, 2 small LED key-chain flashlights - I stick these on badge retracters and clip to my hunting/camp suspenders; a small Craftsman-like Phillips, and a pair of nail clipper/snips - only bought as they were Wiss USA made. - I collect Wiss.

a pair of Starrett compound crimpers with adjustable jaws.

OK I was WRONG - these are not Crimpers, they are carbide tipped wire cutters -.050 capacity, and very poorly adjusted! I adjusted them and they cut spring steel like butter! Someone modified these to be much narrower than the 21/31 width they are supposed to me, but near 1/4" wide works for me for .050 wire.

Starrett Cutters.jpg

Still sold: https://www.starrett.com/details?cat-no=1X-5 1/2

And replacement jaws are available, but not cheap!: https://www.starrett.com/details?cat-no=PT01931-1

Thanks Timm; I'm discovering that as I research and look for what the MIA screws should look like, and made from 1959-76? hopefully parts if needed won't be a big issue.

@Outlawmws : The Diana 15, marketed and badged by Winchester, was my first "real" airgun. It's a pretty good gun at about 500 fps.
I don't know a ton about airguns, but I do know DIANA is a quality brand. I have a break barrel air pistol somewhere around here that needs new seals (not competition legal anymore due to sights).
