Some progress today on the last two barometer stands. Bases need another coat of Arm - R - Seal and more machining work to be completed on the stands. Maybe finish up this weekend…or not…

If interested, the drawing for the barometer stands:

Last, the inspiration picture downloaded off the internet of an Art Deco cabinet:

I needed to make a circle 2- 1/2 inches in a piece of wood with an 1/8 inch depth. I couldn't see how to stay inside the outlined circle due to the base plate. I used a piece of plexiglass to make a base plate so I could see what I was doing.

The clear base can be a handy addition. Another option would have been a piece of plywood with a larger hole and use a router bushing. It'll be perfectly circular.

We've been going through a bit of a clean up and purge in the 'home office' since the cold weather moved in. I normally keep the shredder in the garage but somehow stuff just doesn't seem to make it there - it just gets piled on the desk. So I brought it in for the clean up and we shredded several garbage bags worth of stuff. Looking at the desk it has a CPU compartment which isn't being used since we have a smaller case and it sits on the desk. Measurements were made and the wheels started turning. I had a spare older 20" full extension drawer slide. Lots of bits and pieces of lumber laying around. So today the shredder got moved inside. Hoping that it will help with the clutter that accumulates.

A lot of years ago, I built a similar pullout shelf for our shredder. Painted black to match the shredder but the face is routed to match the style of the oak desk. One of the best improvements in our home office.

Snowblowed (snowblew?) the driveway and the neighbour's this morning, steering cable broke.

Pushed the blower into the shop to melt, went down to the small engine place. Luckily they had the cable.

Put the cable on, when reinstalling the wheel the axle bolt broke. I may have been a little enthusiastic with the impact gun. Managed to drill the bolt and get it out with an extractor.

Back to the village, small engine place didn't have the bolt. Hardware store didn't have a match. Auto parts store did.

Wheel is back on and blower is ready to go. Expecting 15cm tonight, with 70 km/h winds.

Temporary table extension on my drill press. Measured, then set up as a jig to drill the mounting holes for the knobs on the cabinet doors. Also drilled the hinge mounting screw holes.

Had to cut 1/2” off of the bolts I bought to mount the knobs. Cut ends will be inside acorn nuts, so the ugly is hidden.

Painted a couple of shelf supports.

I have been kicking this around the garage for a couple years, move it here move it there. This past week was assigned to get the little things out of the way for the big picture so, I finished cleaning the light assembly up, repaired wiring and made a mount. Might add a flasher or sequencer later.

Man, that is cool. I see them come up at auction once in a while, but they usually don't work, always, "as is". Nice job.

Spent a little time working on my refurbishing of my Delta 12" disc sander...
Applied activated 2K Matte Clear as a top coat to the various painted pieces...

Gave all the parts a nice low gloss finish...

I've always struggled finding a 2k clear locally. I'll have to check out the NAPA down the road!

The weather has been beautiful here. Clear and cold. This weekend is supposed to be the beginning of 10 days of rain/snow.
Had 12 tons of baserock delivered yesterday so I could finally finish the lower driveway to the shop. Spread it with the tractor, a shovel and a rake then drove back and forth about 20 times with the truck to try and roll it in. The coming rain will pack it down even more. Even had enough to get the ramp to the shop done. The clay we have around here is slippery as snot when its wet so this will be a nice replacement.
Then went in the house for dinner and asked the wife for "my usual" (2 tylenol/1 beer)

Just want you to be aware. Drinking alcohol and taking Tylenol can cause liver damage.

The Lady of the Garden's mom had to have a liver transplant because of the interaction between the two. She wasn't a heavy drinker.

BTW. Never want to offend or put someone off. I struggle posting this type of stuff. It's somewhere between "See something. Say something." and "Mind your own business." Please take it as me being concerned.

I had one, many years ago. There’s nothing in there to be working or not working, just a couple of standard lamp sockets. You can easily wire in a lamp cord and plug to light it up. If you want it to do more than that, you’ll need your own electronics to do whatever you want it to do. Or, you can buy one that somebody else has already wired up to do something.

This is the sort of "unsolicited advice" that should be welcomed by all. A dear friend of mine has been on the list for a liver transplant after his was badly damaged by the toxic effect of alcohol and Tylenol (acetaminophen). Until he told me this, I was unaware of the danger.

After we got back home from food shopping this morning I went out to the garage & tried to start the Explorer & it fired right up. I let it run a couple minutes, turned it around so I can check the fluids. Topped off the washer fluid & the coolant, the rest are good. I will be sad to see it go; it served us well for 8 1/2 years. With both my wife & I semi-retired only working PT we do not need the extra vehicles.
