Did a little work out in the garage today, nearing completion on my Delta 820 disc sander motor refurb...
When I acquired it, the brushes access panel had gone missing sometime during it's 80+ year time span...
Naturally, this allowed a large quantity of sawdust and wood chips to get sucked inside the motor...
Missing access panel covers this opening...
I took careful measurements... Created a CAD line drawing... Test fitted the paper template...
Glued the drawing to a piece of 16 gauge HR mild steel...
Punched the two screw holes on the centers with my Whitney #5 Jr hand punch (1.2 ton punching capacity).
Nice clean screw holes, punched like it was going through butter...
Cover has been cut to size and has one coat of etching primer... Waiting to dry, so I can apply the finish color coat...
