Garage fairy left something for me, I never knew there was a garage fairy, but now I must believe.

I was putting the trash can away after they picked up the trash, and noticed there was something in there.

The things like new, so I hung it up in the garage.

Cant think of a scenario where this happens, so it must be a garage fairy.
So whaddaya have to leave under the bench for em? 10mm sockets?

Did a little work out in the garage today, nearing completion on my Delta 820 disc sander motor refurb...
When I acquired it, the brushes access panel had gone missing sometime during it's 80+ year time span...
Naturally, this allowed a large quantity of sawdust and wood chips to get sucked inside the motor...
Missing access panel covers this opening...

I took careful measurements... Created a CAD line drawing... Test fitted the paper template...
Glued the drawing to a piece of 16 gauge HR mild steel...

Punched the two screw holes on the centers with my Whitney #5 Jr hand punch (1.2 ton punching capacity).
Nice clean screw holes, punched like it was going through butter...

Cover has been cut to size and has one coat of etching primer... Waiting to dry, so I can apply the finish color coat...

Blew the motor apart on my RAS project. Took lots of pictures so I can get get it back together after some cleaning and paint. Bearings appear in great shape, so I'm going to let them ride for the time being.

I raised the roof on a bird feeder.

Perhaps you recall the suet feeder I made last year:

IMG_20240721_175242094_HDR.jpg

This was not as popular with the birds as I'd hoped, and so on the theory that the suet blocks were too hard to get at, I lifted the top an inch and a half:

Let's see if that helps.

EDIT: It did help. Birds are using it already.

No, replace the bearings with Japanese ones.
The bearings are in great shape, smooth and quiet, There's evidence (wiring/ cord) that someone had been in there previously. Your post made me go take a closer look at the bearings. NTN's (Japanese) are already in there. The bearings on my initial inspection appeared not to have the same miles/ use on them as the rest of the motor and components if any at all, more along the lines of the cord so I breezed right past them. Unless they have an issue once under power, they will stay.

Started the clean up and refurbishment of the newly acquired bandsaw. 32 oz of purple stuff, 2 cans of engine degreaser, lots of scrubbing and at least now you can see the machine and all the parts than need repair.

Recently I noticed that the golf cart was making a scrubbing sound when turning. I investigated and found that the leaf spring bushings needed to be replaced. One pic is the new ones I installed. One pic is what was left of an old one. I think it was time to change them.

A mate has set his lad up with the launch of a new clothing range (seven sins) and he asked if he and a film crew could use the Corvette garage as a location. Laid a few rules down including no external shots, no food in the garage and yes the cars are fibreglass so no need to tap them to see yourself. Started off by arriving 30 minutes late which is a pet peeve of mine especially on Sunday morning..

Whole thing took a full eight hours and I stayed throughout as they needed some motion shots and sorry, you can sit in it making engine noises but no way you're driving them!

Happy it was over until yesterday when they asked to come back on Sunday next to film some 'missing' footage

Here’s the oak tree fall on the boat that was the reason for the trailer repair. Had to replace the engine and fuel tank as well as repair a 3” hole punched through the deck and bottom.

That hurts to look at, it may have been enough to get me out of boating for a while.

My grandfather was a boat builder, I grew up around it. I know the work...You did a heck of a job on the repairs.

I have a vintage/antique creeper, I restored; but I either use a hard plastic sheet recycled from a stripped treadmill, for small quick jobs, a larger plastic/vinyl sheet from a commercial door that de-laminated, or, like Ya'll, cardboard, -all make sliding in and out easy, and the cardboard insulates in cold weather.

Heck I've fallen asleep under a vehicle on cardboard, many years ago when I routinely "burned the candle at both ends".

The cardboard also pads against driveway rocks.

More power steering pump fun!

I cleaned up the area using some engine degreaser sprayed on a rag and wiped off as much as I could, not perfect but much better. I then got the pump in place and the pressure line connected and tightened along with the reservoir hose, reconnected the radiator hose, new serpentine belt in place and filled the reservoir with fluid. Still have the alternator, cooling fan and shroud to reinstall. Gonna have to get a gallon of coolant to replace what spilled out.
