Reviving an old thread (came across it in a Google search) to see if there have been any changes of opinion about the sites mentioned above or about woodworking sites in general.
I'm looking to join a general woodworking forum. I'm a member of routerforums.com, but it's really mostly for routers and CNC. I get a few replies to my queries, but not much. I mainly joined it when I was looking for a new router. I joined craftisian.com but find the interface and navigation odd and not helpful.
I've narrowed it down to lumberjocks.com and woodworkingtalk.com. Anyone know the difference? I heard there was some drama on the LJ site, so a bunch of folks left and started craftisian. I think LJ is also a sister site to RF.
I'm a former woodshop teacher (taught grades 7-12 for 4 years). I've got all the toys in my garage: TS, jointer, DP, portable planer, etc. I'm looking for a site that is active with a general woodworking focus on all aspects (materials, tools, finishes, etc.) aimed at a serious DIY'er.
Any updated thoughts and comments?
