My OEM socket organizers showed up so it was time to get rid of most of the clip rails, and reorganize the top of the HF 5D cart.

While sorting through my spare socket bins to see if I could fill in any gaps I found this Plomb 1/4" ratchet in the bottom. Totally forgot about it. After disassembly, a trip through the parts washer, and some fresh grease it works well.

A rather productive day in the shop without the race car in the way.

- Changed parts washer solvent
- Cleaned parts washer and added ball-valve for the drain along with a filter
- Mounted (2) fire extinguishers in the shop
- Did routine maintenance on all the smaller outdoor power equipment
- Washed the motorcycle
- Cleaned and organized the shop
That reminds me that I need to swap out the two old old ones in my garage. I have the new ones still in the boxes. Need to put those in the holders and stage the old ones to go to the HHW drop-off some time soon. I have another two in the house - same deal...

I long ago tired of working on my vehicles so they go to the dealer for most things.
My truck is going in for service and a recall issue in a couple of days.

But... I did replace the air filter element and the cabin air filter today. Dealer price is crazy for those two simple tasks.

Your mess is spotless compared to most garage/shops!

It's my mess and I'll cry if I want to....ok!!

Friday night I crawled into bed smelling like T-bone steaks from the smoker.

Saturday night I crawled into bed smelling like premium pine.

You would'a thought I would have gotten lucky with the wife both nights......nope.

Yesterday - replaced the air filters in the 2015 Expedition and 2023 F150. I had to make a run to O'Reillys to pick them up and learned they both use the same filter. Then tossed some scrap metal that was taking up space into the trash can. After that I spent the afternoon using the string trimmer to edge the flower beds in front and rear of house.

Cleared out the back side corner of the garage that will (hopefully) be home to a new mower soon. Very limited on space in this at the moment as new baseboards are still inside as I never finished a couple (unused) rooms in the house that I started in the fall so I'll probably force myself to finish them to get them out. It's that or put them up in the rafters, which would be a pain just to take them back out later. Trying to do all this sorting and cleaning out out now as in the summer I don't want to do anything in the heat except the necessary which is mow. I wanted to do a lot of this organizing this winter but was too busy at work and even with my new torpedo heater I got last year I just didn't feel like going into a cold garage to move **** around.

Put line on the son's new fishing reel. He's outside casting a weight into the pool to practice with it. I put lighter weight line on his reel than I have on mine. It casts the lighter weights that we typically fish with easier. I may need to replace the line on my reel with the lighter weight stuff too.

Got the oil pan off and cleaned the block and pan mating surfaces, tomorrow I'll toss it back on and put it all back together.

I had to beat the hell out of the pan to get the RTV to release....felt like I should have had Michael Jackson Beat it playing on the garage speaker.

Doing a little work from home today I noticed part of my calibration box was loose. Not good for a machine that works with vibration analysis. Took it apart and two of the small spot welds have broken. Probably from the very careful baggage handlers. So I thought about totally disassembling and rewelding but it would mess up the powder cost so hopefully JB weld will do the trick. Taped it up to keep as much dust as possible out and performed minor surgery. If that don’t work it’ll have to go back to Austria for the repair.

PowerPoles back on the boat. New everything, they function perfect. The old worn bushings were over due for replacement. They are nicer powder coated black than I could of imagined, money well spent I'd say. Quick function test of all the electronic components, all is good. Just waiting on the new windshields.

Bilge cover plates is complete, installed and all set.

The oil leak on the Excursion is tomorrows adventure, prob Thursday and Fridays adventure too ..maybe Saturday as well.

I fixed the condenser drain line on my daughters Mazda last night. They had our local Jiffy Lube replace the compressor on their SUV. They butchered the plastic fittings that held on the air ducts/drain line, broke some, others just MIA. $2400 for the work, with shoddy workmanship. Drain line to the chassis feed was not secure and the line was plugged, so water backed up, then leaked out thru the loose line connection. I blew out the line, ziptied the line to the fitting. Son-in-Law started the car up and it immediately dumped water thru the chassis drain to the floor.
I asked him why did he get that kind of work done at Jiffy Lube. He said they could do it immediately. I'm shocked they agreed to do the job in the first place. I told him to go back and get some free oil changes from that cluster-f.

Yesterday’s wind blew off a row of siding from my neighbor’s garage. She’s snowbirding, so I grabbed the pieces before they could escape and put them in my garage.

IMG_6652.jpeg

Straightened out the bends and dings from falling, and nailed them back up.

IMG_6653.jpeg

Final glue up, with dowels.

Now that we have a woodworking section, I guess I should do a thread over there.

Assembled the last of the present batch of Elevated Raised Bed Planter Boxes to replace those that are out on consignment.
Next Saturday I will be visiting the Nursery to collect for the three that have been left there. In a worst case I will be taking some boxes to another outlet and offering them a dealership.

It will do for now. It really needs some better organization.

Nice collection of tooling and accessories.

I have that same exact set of old Craftsman ignition wrenches. Bought them new back in the 80's and still have them in my wrench drawer, although they don't get use much these days.

Your neighbor need to get those rust stain sources investigated.

Yeah, probably so. It’s aluminum siding over the old wood (cedar, probably) siding from the 1940s. I assume that rust is indicating that water is getting inside the aluminum somehow, but it’s not immediately obvious how that would be. And it’s not mine, so I’m not especially concerned to tear in to it.

Thanks, I have almost all the accessories for the lathe. Including the mill head.

The wrenches were my dad's. I found them while I was cleaning up his garage. I don't think they will get much use either. But they bring me good memories of working on the car with him.

No overhang on that roof, and no gutters. Water is probably running off the roof and down the face of the wall.

I feel a little bad.

Gave my neighbor two little air compressors I thought I wasn't using anymore the other day. Last night, the wife started talking about redoing the floors in my son's bedroom. I started thinking about what all would need to be done and remembered I used one of the little compressors to run my brad nailer when doing trim.

Texted the neighbor this morning and asked if I could get one of them back and why. He laughed and said, "absolutely".

So this afternoon, I put the little compressor back in it's little spot on the shelf.
