I'm working on installing a 240V/50A circuit in my garage using 6-6-6 aluminum SER with ground. If I wanted to plug my camper into it (which uses 120V/30A) can I just make an adapter plug so that I only feed one hot, neutral, and ground to the camper? Will I will be getting a max of 50A?

if you have 3 wire meaning 2 hots & neutral you have a 240/120 circuit (assuming the neutral was hooked up) .
so you could run the RV off it. just be mindful with the RV @ full load you will be maxed out on 1 leg of your circuit so you can;t run any 240 volt loads , only 120 on the other leg

My shop has 3 pin 220 . No 4 pin so these wont work . . Any others before i do the same and add a plug and tie in 1/2 of 220 leg ?
If what you have is a 6-50 (welder type), you can't do that because there isn't a neutral for the 120. The 50 amp camper receptacle is a 14-50, the same as a range with two hots a neutral, and a ground. The 30 amp 120 volt camper TT-30 is one hot, neutral, and a ground. The adapter is eliminating one of the hot wires while still keeping the neutral and ground.

And if you have a 10-50 style range or 10-30 style dryer outlet, you don't have a ground pin.

Do you need full 30A to the RV? I use one of those 15A or 20A adapters for mine and mindful of what gets used. That's the simpler solution if you don't have the proper wiring connection at your 240V outlet (or better yet if you have the spare circuit add a 30A outlet while you're installing the other one). A 30A RV shouldn't have that much of a power demand unless you're running a bunch of things at once.

3-wire doesnt always mean 2 hots and neutral. could be 240v receptacle meaning 2 hots and ground NOT neutral. important to ask what kind of receptacle they have and not assume.

Thank you all! I will be using a 14-50r outlet

Yep, that's the standard "50A RV outlet".

Order one of these adapters:

Yes, you can get a max of 50A at 120V (assuming you wired with 6ga and are using a 50A breaker). The bad news is that this adapter is only rated for 30A. It uses 10 gauge wire. And the "30A Receptacle" is only rated for 30A. RVers do this adaptation all the time, but the reality is that the breaker is too big to protect the wire on the RV and adapter.

I often wire my 14-50Rs with 10 gauge wire, put them on a 30A breaker, and put "30A limit" at the plate. 30A * 240V = 7200 watts. That's enough power to fire up 2 ACs and accessories. No issues using this feed with big 5th wheels that are running 2 ACs.

You can split it with an adapter and have enough power for 2 x "30A RVs":

you are correct , but I was clear if you have 2 hots & a neutral ( I assumed plus ground) and the neutral is hooked up . and this is probably a sub panel ...
