It’s got some decent holes in the front floor pans. I want to get it under my carport once I get it cleared out. Right now it’s sitting on gravel so not a ton of grass underneath of it luckily.
Humidity and condensation have eaten more than a few beetles. If theres moisture under there it’s eating.lol

I replaced my trunk shocks last year because they wore out causing the lid to close fast mashing my hand. The plastic ends on the new ones broke off. I kept the old shocks and switched out the ends. I hooked up a sash chain to make sure it doesn't extend too far, which may have been why the ends broke.

Removed and rotated then reinstalled the mounting rails on a new-to-me RTT. Removed mattress and stripped the cover off. Washed and reinstalled. Tonight I hope to reinstall mattress and then install the RTT on the trailer.
Watched a storm roll in, then got soaked running back to the house. Also put the trash out, only significant due to the huge pile of old cardboard I was hoarding for no good reason. Making space!

Got to use it a second time today with a plastic shard. Wild timing. I gassed up all the tires yesterday after plugging the right rear before taking the car to the store and returning home. This morning the left rear was at 20lbs.

Those Black Jack kits are awesome, I have two of them, keep one in each vehicle. Very solid handles.

Had to bring Big Kid's B6 wagon back into shop as tiny oil spot in parking place. We replaced the pan a couple weeks ago (stripped drain) and found one M6 pan bolt stripped as well, so was nice to get pan off to be able to ream the stripped bolt hole to 6mm with depth stop (no excess material to go even a tiny bit deeper) and run a 7mm x 1 plug tap back in....VERY carefully. Got pan off without damage by making a sheet metal spreader from some 18ga steel and following with plastic wedges. Guessing some gasket cleaner ran down from inside block and got onto gasket surface keeping one little spot not sealed and set up. Waiting for new magnetic drain plug with soft copper washers (VW seems to like hard washers and puts little socket head drain plugs in to limit torque and maximize leakage). Rinsing living **** out of lower inner skirt of crankcase this time and will give it a day more to drip dry.

Garbage strike is officially over for us - they picked up the blue recycle bin yesterday and the green waste bin today, plus the two extra barrels of Ivy cuttings I stuck out there. - I power washed both weekly bins for good measure (black garbage bin was Power washed last week post PU)

So once dry we are back on regular schedule this Friday.

Changed the oils and filters--2K hr maintenance--on the shop I-R scroll comp.

Fixed ****. One of the Zahm devices I rebuilt yesterday had a totally unrelated failure--a compression fitting blew out. Fortunately, our local plumbing/electrical shop had just the piece I needed to get it back up and running. I also needed a half-dozen o-rings and the hardware store had what I needed--they were in the first bin I looked in. Now off to spend my entire paycheck on lottery tickets....

Polished my knobs.

IMG_7340.jpeg

These are for the doors, still working on those. Old brass knobs and all of the associated hardware. They were once coated with some clear bronze finish, longs since gone and replaced with skin oil patina. Brasso, a rag, and spinning them with a drill cleaned them up nicely.

The door latches had grease so old that it had turned to powder. I’ll reassemble and grease those tomorrow.

Finished working on the charging cable for my son's Leaf, found that the controller in the cable is bad. I rechecked the connections and measured the voltages, all are correct; the back of the plug shows 240 phase to phase and 125 phases to neutral.

His car charges nicely in my garage, so i told him he needs to get another cable.

He sold the OEM Cable that came with the car and replaced it with a third-party aftermarket cable, looks like he can apply what he made selling his OEM Cable towards the replacement.

A few weeks back the JD LA130 rider would not move forward or back. I checked the belt, looked okay. Thought I had a transmission issue as I found a broken bolt and flat washer on the transmission. Dropped the transmission and searched for where the bolt came from. No success. After a break came back out and found it was from long ago. I had replaced a bolt on the deck and this was the original. No idea why she won't move so ordered a new belt. Continued cleaning the trans and mower.

I am one week away from concluding my No Amazon July personal achievement.

Bezos is probably nervous. He may have to cut down on some vacation plans or yacht purchases without me funding him.

Anyway, it has kinda sucked a few times because there are things I don't know where to buy anywhere else.

Will I make it one more week???

Yesterday I also continued work on the old Coleman Gypsy stove and did more deep diving on finding examples to try to document manufacturing details, like markings and colors between US and Canadian versions. It's been difficult!

I've found less than 15 documented in the interwebs, and 2 of those my be a dupe due to one being purchased "restored'. Zero show in recent Eprey listings current or past. Two other primary models for 1927-33, (2 & 9C) and those are far more plentiful!

I think being the only stove Coleman made using a separate pump, rather than integral to the tank made these less desirable to keep long term, so more got tossed. It was their "economy model".

Searched for an MIA stainless work top I have, somewhere. :headscrat

Put other stuff away, and chopped Ivy "branches" smaller (love the 15" geared Fiskars lopers!) for less space in the now empty green bins and barrels - Guess I'm back to yard work catch-up.

I assume you know about the release lever in the back that you pull out in order to manually push the machine around? If it's out it isn't going to respond to the pedal. If it's in verify that it's actually connected to the trans.

It's been hot and humid here the last few days (temps in the 80Fs but humidity over 95% so it feels awful), but the garage is in the 70s and 45% so I take any excuse to go putz in the shop. I got a couple of decent wooden stools with cushioned tops for 50 cents each at a sale, so I don't even have to move my seating around anymore. Finally sorting all my Yankee screwdrivers bits and push drill bits into drawers according to size of the screwdrivers, type of bit, and sorting push drill bits according to size and if Yankee or Goodell-Pratt. Sitting on a stool and sorting little stuff is about the height of my ambition this week.

Hot humid weather is great motivation to get stuff picked up, put away, and organized. Your future self with thank you when it cools off enough to feel like bigger projects are possible. Carry on! :coffee:

Look into replacing it with a carbon filter or something, should be something to help with smells out there.

I'm using an aftermarket filter. And it looks denser but doesn't work much better, if a tall, than the factory filter. Buy American we say...forgetting why at times there are reasons why we don't. This isn't one of them. I love my Chevy. But not everything about it.

The real question is, how much stuff is in your shopping cart waiting for next month? Or, do you think you'll be able to continue?

As for me, I pulled the kayak off the stand and brought it into the shop. I was looking for a way to move my son forward some more in the cockpit. I discovered I can put eyelets on the footpeg brackets, so I did that. We'll be testing it out on Saturday where we have an all day trip planned.

Not in "my garage", but i traveled to my new project car and replaced the ignition lock cylinder and put a battery in to get the drivers window. It has been open for about 30 years. The window actually worked with the switch.
