That black hinge stood out from across the room, so I mixmatched some paint and daubed it on with a qTip to make it less noticeable. I should probably scratch a little back off.
The dip in the lid is bothersome. Bend it flat and a ripple forms in the lip and when you flatten that, another pops up like a bump in a rug. I guess it's stretched and needs shreenking. Part of the challenge is not damaging what's l
eft of the paint.
Okay, I went from typing to hammering and it was easier to flatten than I'd anticipated. I clamped it beyond flat, with an 1/8" shim above the hasp and pried up on the flange's low spots while hammering on the high spots with a rawhide mallet.
That was incredibly satisfying.
Now I like this box. Having the lid pivot on the hasp felt reely rong!
