It looks funny to me with only one plug. I've been looking for a brown one, or two, to see if they look better than white ones. There isn't a cord hook on the back, so I'll add one if I do put plugs in. I can mount one using a backsplash screw or two.
I have some ivory ones, and maybe some older brown two prong ones that you can have, but I think a black or grey three prong would look great in there. Might cost $2 more, but would be less apt to look dirty too.

I'll be patient and find some vintage plugs at the Habitat stores. In the meantime, I'll probably make a cover plate for the back side and use a screw or three to hold it in place. I'll use the same number of screws in the holes in the other side, because the asymmetry is bugging me on this one. : )

The bare rusty areas blend nicely with the blue when wet. Hopefully, the #7 helps with that, or WD40 probably would.

: ( I would be working on it today, but I'm gathering firewood instead ) :

This old Kennedy Kits box seems worth twenty bux. I might be tempted, if it was closer. Monroe is far too far away and that's okay. I don't need it anyway. It's got a few extra holes in the front and is missing some sort of locking bar, as well as some paint.

I'd get it just for the fun resto project

Grab this New Britain box too, while you're over there. Still up for sale @ $20.

This one posted recently in Bremerton, which is within reach; but $50 is slightly outside my budget, in terms of dollars per pound.

If this box was $20, I'd be trying to squeeze another one into the shop.

That seller has this Snap-on carry box too for one fiddy. Also cool, but that one weighs more like $50 tops.

I need to stop shopping online.

Both the Kennedy dn the NB would be cool boxes.

I'm not certain those holes in the K's front are not factory for something. they are all very evenly spaced.

I'm tempted to start a Toolbox Repair and Modification thread, but will follow up here with the two damaged boxes I've shared, since I finally repaired them today.

I bent some little steel pieces to reinforce the cracked shelf corners on the Simonsen Tool Caddy.

IMG_7255.jpeg IMG_7264.jpeg IMG_7268.jpeg

I made them so they share the mounting tabs on the sides of the box that the shelves hang on. That way, they're actually carrying the weight of the shelf. I turned the cracks into slots and then clamped the new pieces up tight against the bottom and welded the two together down the slots. I ground the welds smooth and gave the corners a thin coat of Royal Blue paint, since that was the only blue I have on hand. It feels good to finally have the box back together again and clean enough to use.

The Simonsen box in the bottom is a perfect fit between the wheel boxes. I found a two prong brown outlet in my stash of electrical stuff and it looks much better. It's not wired up, but does a nice job of plugging the hole for now.

I also welded the hinge tab on my new old Proto box. I drilled holes through the box behind the hinge and then clamped a chunk of aluminum as a heat sink.

IMG_7301.jpeg IMG_7302.jpeg

It was a little awkward setting it up for welding, but worth the effort to have the welds be invisible; aside from some burned paint and discoloration.

IMG_7304.jpeg

A dab of sharpie ink darkened the light spots and once it rusts a bit, it'll be less noticeable. :)

Picked up this nice and crusty crown logo roller today from Market place for $40. The drawers are in great shape little to no rust inside just surface stuff on the exterior. The rails are very smooth as well. The bottom lid is a little sticky but just needs cleaning. Very happy with it! I’m just going to clean and scrape all the loose **** off then clear it. Leave it rustic.

If it were mine, I'd put a hard-laminate top of some kind on it--hiding the rust--and mount a bench tool or two to it. DP, grinder, buffer--maybe buffer and grinder. I love having portable work stations--with storage.

I like that idea Tim. Not sure what I’m going to do with it. Definitely think I’m going to put some kind of top on it.

Handy little roller. I think if it were mine, I would knock the rust off and either clear coat matte finish or lindseed oil it. And then get a heavier piece of steel plate just to set into the top space, then just sand and finish out the plate, natural, and keep it waxed or lightly oiled. I like my bare steel worktops.

Me too! My main bench has 5/8” road plate for the top that my grandfather made forever ago. Thing is a tank!

That black hinge stood out from across the room, so I mixmatched some paint and daubed it on with a qTip to make it less noticeable. I should probably scratch a little back off.

The dip in the lid is bothersome. Bend it flat and a ripple forms in the lip and when you flatten that, another pops up like a bump in a rug. I guess it's stretched and needs shreenking. Part of the challenge is not damaging what's left of the paint.

Okay, I went from typing to hammering and it was easier to flatten than I'd anticipated. I clamped it beyond flat, with an 1/8" shim above the hasp and pried up on the flange's low spots while hammering on the high spots with a rawhide mallet.

IMG_7354.jpeg

That was incredibly satisfying. Now I like this box. Having the lid pivot on the hasp felt reely rong!

I've been dong more and more metal straightening with pressure and camps. Where I have been hammering, its generally been on a "spreader plate" that prevents hammer marks ant creating hammer hardened spots.

I started with tongs I made myself from dead nippers, but I've done large spaces where I used a 4X6 angle as an "anvil" padded that with 2X6, clamped a 2X 6 on top of the whoopied and textured aluminum in this case and then pounded that with a big single jack. it worked great and you can barely tell the aluminum was ever crushed with a tree branch...

I picked this on up yesterday with contents for $30 yesterday, No makers marks, and I recall seeing this 6 (not 7) drawer box on GJ recently, and cannot recall the brand now. Looking and searching didn't help me...

I kinda like the 6 drawer configuration better than the Kennedy 7 drawer...

It's in decent shape, no dents really, top left drawer is sticky, (all the slides need attention), and the cover is stuck in the bottom so I need to pry that out... a few patches or rust that need mitigated, but post cleanup will use it as is.

^ GOLD box? That's an odd duck.
While I'm here in this thread... I picked up this 20-inch "Atlantic Container Corporation" box up in Sequim for a whole $3.60. (With the three tools the total came in at $11 and change.)

I think I have it’s brother. Top one here. I think we settled on Waterloo or some other brand, I think I posted in that thread, which might help, ir hinder, your search.😆

I agree likely the same box -but I'm not seeing the "Waterloo" dimples behind the lock, nor is that half using those locations as rivet holes.

On the other hand id they are pitting the hasp there, why bother? I did finally pry the fromt cover out of the bottom storage pocket of mine, and inspect all sides, back, and front for any maker's marks. nothing... That front cover is missing its "handle" these are just bent sheet metal loops and spot-welded on.

I souls see if I have a key for that thing. while I complete Cleanup, but I'm almost done today without a break, still recovering om the "Prep" for yesterday's "procedure. Bastards are saying this is now an every there year event - :wtf: I don't think so Tim...
