Restore finds from earlier this week, first sale this morning (free, was a continuation from last week) and the rest was $5.00 from a second sale.

Pics posted in the wrong order. I will try and fix it. The free pile includes the padlock.

Here is my small haul from PAST tool sale held in town. I was again selling stuff for my friend, he sold $260, and I sold $91. Best sale was a big WW vise for him, a huge space hog, and heavy, glad t be rid of it, and it went to a mutual friend, so bonus there.

Top Down: Millers Falls No. 48 Hacksaw, Eclipse 1/2" skew chisel with a custom bulbous handle, handmade jig for holding short blades like spokeshaves for use with Grinding jigs, free Thorsen 514 and 524 sockets in 1/2" drive, bag of small goodies, taps, fasteners etc., Swan 1/2" chisel with a bulbous handle, flat on the bottom. things I passed on included a Preston curved spokeshave (cut a groove) with some rusty spots. I thanked the man who bought it, saved me from spending. It was a great price for a slightly compromised tool.

Got a few weeks of finds to report, been selling more than picking but I managed to make a big dent in my death pile so I'm backing to buying **** I don't need :rocker:

This sale had about 100 harbor freight socket and wrench sets but there was also some Craftsman in there. Can't believe the Kromedge tap set was complete! A bunch of other random Craftsman USA stuff as well. 12 bucks

IMG_7909.jpg

My favorite kind of sale...private estate sale with overwhelmed sellers clearing things out cheap. The wrench set is a full Thorsen USA set, it was $5. The SK set and all the other rats and misc were $10. Thought I scored on the Morgan 087 vise for another $10 but it's a basket case. The swivel retaining screw is busted and I think the other bits that are supposed to be in there are gone...but not sure because I can't get the damn base screw off!

IMG_7911.jpg

This is from today, kind of an odd mix of stuff other than my usual pile of Craftsman:ROFLMAO:

The survey rod is Dietzgen USA paid $5 on that, 10 on the Camelbaks, $3 each on the minty Vaughan USA hammers. The big pile of misc includes a long Wright 1/2 rat, the heritage Craftsman 1/4 box, and a bunch of other stuff. That with the 1974 fire engine bank was $25.

We spotted a local TOO on our way home from town on Friday afternoon. It was a repeat of a sale we had picked previously and the only useful item I spotted was a hook I needed to install in the bathroom. While talking to the women doing the sale, I told them that I look for rusty tool treasures and one lady promised to go through her things and bring them the following day. IMG_3838.jpeg
It poured rain on Saturday but we stopped by on our way to the Post Office. Much to my surprise the seller had set several items aside for me and I bought them all except for a couple of hand saws. IMG_3835.jpegIMG_3834.jpegIMG_3833.jpegIMG_3832.jpegIMG_3831.jpeg
A few additional itemsIMG_3837.jpeg
i wasn’t sure what the clamps were for (maybe holding items being welded?) but I now own two of them. They would be great for cracking open walnuts! IMG_3839.jpegThere was a familiar odor eminating from the garage where the group of senior sellers were waiting out the rain and I’m not sure if that helped or hindered the negotiations but eventually an agreement was reached.

Well done Don. Those look like some nice old examples. I've never gotten the license plate bug like a lot of guys (thank goodness), however I recently tried to buy a vintage Puerto Rico plate and it was NFS.

I came up on a roadside tool sale along a main road, the kind of thing I daydream about and never see! There were several loaded tables at the road, and an enclosed trailer. I turned around and went back as knew there had to be something good. Turns out the trailer was loaded with boxes of hand tools from the man's closed shop, and the sale was outside his current business.

There were hundreds of sockets, wrenches, and pliers. Condition wasn't pretty (some boxes had water damage), plus tools already picked over all day, but pricing was next to nothing. That included 25 cents a piece for sockets. I made a pile in the sweltering heat inside this man's trailer. I would have bought much more if I had the time. Didn't post my finds from there, but pulled about 8 Snap-On pieces in the lot.
Long story short, the entire load was for sale. Tools, boxes, supplies. When I looked up, there was a vintage Puerto Rico plate under a trailer rib. It was unusual enough to get my interest. I asked but he was too attached to let it go.

My normal dog park is closed, due to a balloon show, so I decided to go to the one north of me, and in so doing checked for any interesting sales. And there was a good looking one, so little Pepperoni and I went exploring. It was hot, so I didn't want to leave her in the truck more than necessary, so I only dropped in for a moment, and here is what I found
54738234734_caf791f35d_b.jpg
a small socket box in SK colors, with SK wartime sockets, Plomb 1/4 breaker bar, Snap-on spinner, Starrett trammel points (I think), Mitutoyo depth micrometer, and a beat up Starrett box. $6

But something was nagging at me as I took the little dog home, so I went back and ended up buying it
54737893601_6145f858de_b.jpg
'48-'49 Kennedy mechanics box. Full.
54738133074_3e72c64cbb_b.jpg
54737895681_c6ddedfb0c_b.jpg
even has the little carry tray!
54738261660_f57ea1d437_b.jpg
54737897506_5624cc180f_b.jpg
Not sure what all is in it (still in the back of my truck, as it is hot today) but I have seen Snap-on, Starrett, etc. $80 loaded into my truck. And hopefully it will be loaded into my shop before the wife gets back in town.
You're probably able to get 1/2 your $$ back in the Snap On Ratcheting adapter
“I’m looking at you through the glass
Don’t know how much time has passed…”

There’s no way this box was on the shelf at Habitat since 7/17/25. I would have seen it last month.

Anyway, there wasn’t much of a new selection at this Habitat. It gets picked over quick. I dug through the small tool section and pulled out a nice older P&C socket in 3/8 drive, a Mac socket, and a Ward’s 1/4”x 5/16” doe with really long jaws for 75 cents.

Then I browsed through the hardware shelf as I always do. Examined this little plastic kit that was all taped up, and was shocked when I saw a familiar name peeking back at me through the little window!

Lets’s open the box together!

5162D801-0077-4620-A5BE-1D9C22FFEA85.jpeg
Plomb 1/4” ratchet, extension, and 8 sockets! Good bit of rust on extension and some sockets.
1/8 dead screwdriver shank may be responsible for all the rust. The ratchet works like new, just needs oil and wipe down. For 5 bucks I can’t complain!

Well done, love the Stone Sour quote. They were great in concert BTW

A couple of nice stops this morning. Here’s what I got!
First stop was $15
Craftsman metric 6 point combo wrenches
27mm & 32mm craftsman 12 point combo wrenches
Snap on file pouch missing the good stuff!!
Irwin 3/8 drill bit
Loctite 262 new
2 flap discs

Next stop was $5
Small step bit
Ratcheting terminal kit

A TOO for $2
Billings Pat. 1879 bicycle wrench
Jamestown Crescent 4” adjustable a bit locked up

Finally a TOO on my way home from work last night. $5
Westward punch/chisel holder
KD 3/8 nut driver

IMG_6564.jpegIMG_6565.jpegIMG_6567.jpeg

Sorry one wouldn’t load

The 6 point Craftsman wrenches fetch good money.

Knowing I needed to act quick or step aside, I blurted out “How much for the whole thing?” One lady jokingly says 100 bucks. The other says, “Hmmm, $8.”. SOLD!

Hit a privately listed estate sale of a hoarder., so much stuff to go through.Nothing was looked at and the guy wemt buy weight of each bag and crate I filled. I had 3 bags and 2 crates
And his price was $10 each. Got some junk I already tossed and here is the better stuff.1000028785.jpg1000028789.jpg

Picked all this stuff up at one garage sale right around the corner from my house. I tried but the woman running the sale would not take any more than $10 for everything. I feel like I stole from her and I told her so, she said she was just happy it was going to a good home.
IMG_6885.jpegIMG_6887.jpegIMG_6895.jpeg

Hit a mother lode on Saturday. Saw a CL add for free tools, lawn and garden, etc. no picture.

Got a 14" Delta bandsaw, a delta tenoning jig, a porter cable dovetail jig , and a yuasa drill press ,all for $80.

***** to all you guys and all those I missed catching up on four pages of excellent hauls!

Picked these up earlier in the week, and have given them (a rather therapeutic) weekend soak, a scrub and an examine. The buckets all good too! The bucket full was £3 and the tool box (Halfords 12” with steel tote tray inside too) and the wine box were £5. I needed neither but hey £8 😉 Thats $11 dollars or there about. So as found on my bench:

PHOTO-2025-08-20-12-03-40.jpeg

And post sort/scrap/scrub. I was quite ruthless and ended up with a 1/3 of the original rust covered tools.

IMG_8890.jpeg

Random no name BSW DOE, two matching TWilliams DOE, a Dowidat and Elora ring, China Adjustable, two metric Bedford chrome DOE, solitary Beta combination 10mm and a Whelan mystery wrench.

IMG_8893.jpeg
Four tongs/nailpullers far right one is an Elliot Lucas, 8” Wilkinson ALBEC pliers, 6” TWilliams pliers, and an unusual sprung push button ‘Footprint‘ wrench with ‘NTGB’ stamped in it - any ideas folks? All English castings bar one.

IMG_8894.jpeg
IMG_8895.jpeg

A motely slection of chisels, bolsters and scrapers. The broad bolster if you zoom in has had so much action that only ‘SPEAR’ of ‘SPEAR AND JACKSON’ is visible!

IMG_8896.jpeg

The last of the rust pile! I gave the club hammer away already, and I will keep a selection aside and hopefully recoup my £8 a few times over 🤞

This was sitting for a very long time, wish it was a single mantle. I took a chance at $15. Will see if there is any damage to paint as that will hurt value greatly.1000029962.jpg1000029965.jpg1000029967.jpg1000029969.jpg

I hit the final day of an estate sale for half off. They were practically giving stuff away. Not a lot left though. Some drill stops, a leather punch, unopened Wilson combat gun oil, unopened 54 cal projectiles, and some strange Japanese pruners with curved jaws. They seem heavy duty and the rivit was hand hammered. I can’t read any of the writing. I’m not even sure what they’re for lol.

My buddy cbacres tipped me off on an an estate sale yesterday. (y) He managed to leave some goodies behind for me.

Things in the home were not in great condition but the people running it were very nice and they were negotiable.

Lack of photos due to incoming storm. There is a bit more but ran out of fair weather.

The Google translate app on your phone can take a picture and translate it or just hold it up with the camera on and it'll translate as well (most of the time)

Interesting, thanks! It says something about cutting tin up to a certain thickness. I guess they’re tin snips!

This past weekends pick ups....

Hard to find Craftsman Vanadium ratchet. But the mechanism is not working right. It free spins, then gets stuck, then goes other direction. The push button depresses but doesn't do anything else. I think it broke years ago and the fellow just kept it, hence the nice condition otherwise. I'm tempted to cut the rivets off and take a look inside, but probably won't. The last one I saw a couple years back was in such poor condition I didn't buy it, now I wish I did. lol

20250824_155951.jpg

Husky 1/4 socket set, knurled sockets. Wish case had a logo or stamping.
Snap On Ratchet SL710D
Sk 1/4 ratchet
Craftsman 4 inch adjustable, JH stamped, I'm guessing made by Williams
Wiha Snap Ring and Slotted screwdriver

20250824_160126.jpg

Not my normal pick ups. Griswold cast iron and small oiler for 2 bucks.

My big spending this weekend.
A local online auction.
A Morse drill index patented 1906. It had a few random bits.
A toolbox that’s kind of beat up, paint peeling, etc. the top tray fits, but the handle has been cut off, so I’m not sure it’s original.
anyone recognize the oval label that was on the cover?
I’ve got a whole $2.00 invested in the lot.

On the label; if it were a bit flatter of an oval, I'd guess early Craftsman, you might get the blue rattle can off or it with SG soaked paper towel? take it slow.

The last one I saw a couple years back was in such poor condition I didn't buy it, now I wish I did. lol

Husky 1/4 socket set, knurled sockets. Wish case had a logo or stamping.
Snap On Ratchet SL710D
Sk 1/4 ratchet
Craftsman 4 inch adjustable, JH stamped, I'm guessing made by Williams
Wiha Snap Ring and Slotted screwdriver

Not my normal pick ups. Griswold cast iron and small oiler for 2 bucks.
