4" x 6" Harbor Freight Bandsaw Chip Tray Bracket - 3D Print

Hi All - In case anyone is thinking about making a chip tray for their 4 x 6 band-saw and has access to a 3d printer, I just posted STLs on Printables (link below) for one I designed. The STLs files are free to download. I have been using it several months now and it does a good job capturing most of the the swarf.

I believe it was around 9 hours, but can't remember for sure. Import the STLs into your slicer, slice them, and it should give you a print time estimate.

Here a few pics of it. To compensate for the angled side of the saw frame casting, I milled the side of the mounting bracket at an angle and fabricated some spaces to fine tune the fit. Alternatively, you could heat the bracket and bend it to the desired angle or weld two pieces flat stock at the desired angle. Hope this helps.

One could also drill and tap a couple of holes in the upper section of the bracket and use two setscrews or bolts in them for fine tuning relative to the casting.

Another saw mod that works great is to build an angle steel dolly with the lips turned up to capture the base of the saw, then bolt the saw into it. A piece of material inside provides a shelf for drops or a coolant tank. It also raises the saw to a more comfortable height and allows twisting around of the saw if room clearance is needed for angle cuts.
