2025 Garage Sale Thread (14th Annual)

My haul, from a jack of all trades who remodeled houses, sailboats, trailers etc . Tools for tile, finish work, rough work, electrical, plumbing etc. He was moving out of 4000 SqFt, and taking a UHaul pod to Maryland. The spaces were previously inhabited by him and a partner, who also ran a bike shop, and whose father was a dentist turned jewelry maker (or some weird story like that). He was still deciding what was going or staying, so a few dead ends on things for sale. He had some kid help him unload the spaces into the yard, and stuff got mixed up. And then double bonus, he shared the yard space with other tenants, and thus the Gyro Versa vise w long jaws was not his to sell. Oh well, here is the get after about an hour of poking about.

In no real order. 2 Hargrave Cincinnati Tool woodworking clamps, in 24" & 36" lengths, forget if they are 415 or 425.. A bunch of 1-1/4" vacuum attachments which will fit Saturday's purchase. Some small bins which should fit my ULine rack. A couple of Morse taper drill bits, including one about 1.75". Several dental pliers repurposed to jewelry pliers, a dapping block, honing stone, fret saw blades, SS gun brads, pin vise for drills, and a set of vintage adjustable dies (no taps) Wells Brothers Little Giant, in weird tiny sizes. Oh, and another screw holding driver .



And in the left behind category, a Ryobi beam saw, and not pictured a Prazi converter. My size 12.5 shoe for scale, guessing its a 16"

Couple small hauls from the weekend

$5 for the Gerber and Maglite combo plus a roofer’s hatchet that is Kelly assuming the handle is original…unfortunately the maglite tailcap was seized and I destroyed it trying to get it off. So I’m in the hunt for a functioning maglite to replace it with.



$2 for a leatherman with driver accessory, plus a few minty craftsman sockets and adaptor set

Just got back from picking a nice little place in Nebraska. Fella had a bunch of stuff and we will probably need to go back. Picked up a bunch of quart cans and some I haven’t seen before. I also snagged a NOS Massey Ferguson carb, a few spark plugs, and some paper shells with a good paper box. The smaller square cans are cool as well as the International Harvester embossed oil can.

One of three local sales scored tool stuff today, some of it free, the rest inexpensive. The two toolboxes were cheap Taiwan stuff, but I like blue toolboxes. The set of four casters are Made in USA, as is the 3/8” ID air hose. The Husky mini vac has got to be better than my cheap Shop Vac portable one, which is only good for dust, a single leaf can clog it.

I have something similar, seems to be a no-name brand (Stinger)? There are some online posts saying Ridgid makes them, but I'm not sure.



I bought it new (still have the box), at HD or WM around 20 years ago, primarily for the RV (where it lives). I rarely use it, not much power compared to a full-sized. I have used it as an inflator.

Pick up this afternoon thanks to FBM. Union B-20 Machinist Chest 1933-41. No key but it is the lock series/key available (A50M16) from Gerstner. I may order felt from Gerstner just to offset shipping cost. Handful of tools broken combo head, center finder head, mikes, indicators, taps, drill bits. A quick wipe down and this my stay right on the desk.

Fishing and family took precedence over going to sales this weekend but we went to town to get items in the PO Box and saw a sale that was extended through today. It was put on by sellers we had bought from before in previous years. The only tool was a really old Sunbeam hedge trimmer with what looked to be a wooden body and I decided to leave it behind. I did see a couple of universal joints that looked to be Corvair correct and a cutter that I didn’t know much about but grabbed it because it was made in Hayward, CA and had never been used.

Earlier this summer, I got a box of various bits, some Planetor type, but I couldn't remember what they were called (if I ever knew), and they got set aside and I forgot them until now. Not sure what I'm going to do with them.

The cool part is they're all supposed to use the same shank so you don't need to carry 37 bits just one shank and 37 heads. And I suspect that one guy might only carry two or three sizes but lots of duplicates and then take them out to sharpen every few days.

Paid $12 for the Snap on air drill, Ingersoll Rand 1/2" Titanium impact.

Then paid a total of $23 for the brand new in box transfer punches, two sets of Vise Grip locking pliers, Channellock pliers, a Mac stubby phillips screwdriver and two Snap On flat screwdrivers. (One may not be Snap on, I cant find markings on it, but it was with the other Snap on screwdriver so Im assuming.)

I then found d my best deal of the day a Kalamazoo belt sander with Baldor motor for a whopping $5. Runs good, just needs a new wheel and sanding belts and good cleaning.

I have the stinger too! I use it to **** out my A/C condensate line.

Went to 2 estate sales over the weekend, both were loaded in the pictures but were heavily picked over when I got there sat morning.

$10 for this cast plate. Idk what it is! The other side is machined flat so I am going to use it as a welding plate for small projects! Let me know if you know what it is, all I know is its heavy!

Lapping is flattening other surfaces on it, officially with loose media. I'd put sandpaper down instead.

I don't know exactly what that thing is, but I'm guessing it's worth more than a few bucks to the right guy.

...kinda like the time I cleaned out the attic in the garage at the house in Tillicum and told my buddy to haul off all the scrap metal that the previous tenant had left behind. he came back and told me some story about aluminum "lith plate" and said he got a few hundred bucks for the stuff .... in 1981.... just sayin'...

I would think the bigger problem with welding would be heat distortion. Bye Bye precise flatness. The grooved side is the top.

Robert Plant is (was?) the lead singer for Led Zeppelin. In his youth, he was notorious for wearing skin-tight jeans to highlight his "package."

I interjected his name into the years-long rule against crotch shots, as a way to add humor. Apparently, way before my time, there was a person (or several) who went out of their way to post crotch shots, and may have even been banned from the site.

Seeing crotch shots, or even just pants (or feet) still triggers certain members to this day, so whatever was done had to have been pretty horrifying.

Yeah. In the Coleman lantern world, where most of the desirable items are nicely nickel-plated, we see some horrible things that can never be unseen.

Also I was born in 85 so that was all before my time. My parents listened to country music from the 50s to the present so thats what I grew up on.

My great uncle still helps at work 20+ years after he passed. Grandfather kept the two sets and I ended up with one recently. Cleaned and serviced them but only thing I can do with them is put my welding kit on them and try to make a couple joke pics since it's bare above the guards.

Also I was born in 85 so that was all before my time. My parents listened to country music from the 50s to the present so thats what I grew up on.

All good. I never assume anyone's musical taste / knowledge has anything to do with their age / background, after working with a young guy who knew about all sorts of music, well older than he was (and some older than me). I have a friend now that's the same way. Youtube and the internet in general are game-changers in that regard.

Some men do wish for the suit of armour medieval wedding, the no pants might be more eccentric though.

Only place I'd imagine it to be proper wedding attire would be very limited select communities in Florida, Washington, Nevada, Montana, Maryland, Michigan, and Ohio that avoid clothing for the most part.


The intended joke(welder wielding naught but a pair of boots, shin guards, an apron, and the welding machine) seems to fall flat unfortunately. Second attempt and it didn't get any bites. I need to stick with the dad, phonetic, and ambiguous medical jokes it seems.
