Slap a piece of 3/4" MDF on top and tell her to f off. Pick up a circ saw and straight edge to rip the MDF sheets.Probably gonna scrap this whole fucker or finish it up and post it for sale locally
Specific information was shared, about what I can and cannot do. That specific information is wood working as I said I can build the metal frame. I don't know how to do wood working, don't have the tools, and don't even know how to quote work I can't and don't do.
Cost? Only $200 cause that covers material (metal at $146), adjustsble feet ($40), misc hardware ($10) and small bits of other steel. Labor for something similar was $800 alone to my neighbor just too years ago.
Anyway, at some point she thought a wood top and shelf were included in that $200 quote; how the ****?
When budget posed an issue, I took the time to research and find a budget friendly alternative to said issue. Personal friend will do a 12' long, 25" wood top all for $300 because an $600 unfinished butcher block locally is too much.
Asked a follow-up question regarding design and we're back to square one with "the original blueprint included a shelf..."
Yeah, that was before you forgot I said I don't do any wood working and that the wood top is for just that, a wood top.
So I offered the option to refund everything, since it's my sister in law. She hasn't responded at all but there's no way this much can be misinterpreted. Even just looking at what I quoted.
A custom metal framed, 4' kitchen shelf sells for an easy $400-800 online. This fucker is 12' long and square as ****!
/end rant

As for me. I pulled the flat wheel off the wagon. The tire is completely dry rotted. I'll swing by tractor supply and pick up a replacement tomorrow.
Finish it and sell it locally.
Your experience mirrors mine with doing side work for relatives. I don’t know if it was selective hearing or them thinking that I worked for free but I gave up working on relatives cars many years ago.

I don't do **** for family. I won't stop to piss on em if they're dying by the side of the road.Probably gonna scrap this whole fucker or finish it up and post it for sale locally

No. I meant to slap MDF on the top instead of the more expensive custom top.I'm 39 now, and for a good decade or so that's how I've been towards many.
Made amends with many though as we just had some genuine misunderstandings; especially my parents and I.
Anyway, they're good people (those I do keep in my life) but for this specific thing, I never knew how out of touch she is/was with everything.
Also I realize I misunderstood what @niget2002 was saying earlier about the MDF as I think he meant for the non-existent shelf?
Nothing leaves my shop if it isn't to my liking. MDF shelf with a custom finished wood top
That should be a crime.
No. I meant to slap MDF on the top instead of the more expensive custom top.
I'm willing to do stuff for family, but if they go psychotic, then I take control and do what I want at that point. Which means I'm finishing it the cheapest and quickest I can.
Luckily most of my family is pretty good about things.
But your time is worth nothing. You don't charge yourself, so why should you charge them?Gotcha, makes sense
Yeah the whole reason why it bothered me so much cause it was way out of left field; completely out of character and so when she said "in the original.." etc I was telling myself, I'm over here gifting you $800+ in labor!
But your time is worth nothing. You don't charge yourself, so why do you charge them?
It's how people think. Probably 90 percent of them think that way.You lost me.

Wifey stopped and grabbed the 60" wheel for the tractor? Good wifey!Wife had to go to town for something, so she stopped at tractor supply and grabbed the wheel I needed. It's slightly different size than the old one, but it won't matter.
I went out and installed it when she got home.
I like itThe color is Capri Cream. It had been repainted red, and the previous owner was a young guy sanding it for a repaint. He gave up. I like red cars, but it seems everyone is repainted Corvairs red, and I haven't seen any Capri Cream Vairs, so I went back to the original color. I like it.
Good wife, yes. 60" wheel, no.Wifey stopped and grabbed the 60" wheel for the tractor? Good wifey!
I started to organize my bolts into one of my new cabinets. Had two 5 gallon pails full of them.
I'll have a couple of drawers for bolts and screws, one drawer for plumbing and one for electrical stuff. The rest I'm gonna just scrap.

Some rotors **** so bad from the factory they shouldn't ever be turned.Re-freshed the front end of my 1999 E55 AMG. The front rotors are kinda rare nowadays and very expensive. So I had my originals measured and they were within spec so I had them turned at my local O'reilly's at $25 a pop. Amazing how uncommon that is now, cheaper buy new most times. Anyway, since I had it apart.....(famous last words) I ordered new Bilsteins and lower ball joints. Really a fun job to with my son, he is getting to be quite the wrencher, a lifelong skill that many kids don't appreciate in this online world we now inhabit.![]()

Lol,At some point I will have to do this also, I will hate it.
A little chuckling and cleaning.

Get a good set of thread checkers.Great job!
I would pay someone to do this for me. Take my stuff and make it something where I can find stuff.
