This type of hammer os known to have issues with the plastic eventually kabooming.I'd be very leery to try to warranty anything like that for someone else.
I haven't yet seen the issue with these newer SO hammers that have red handles and black rubber inserts. The older orange ones would crumble sitting in a drawer. This one appears to be a bit UV bleached. I wonder if that had anything to do with its fate. This type of hammer os known to have issues with the plastic eventually kabooming.

Maybe there is a reason for friend not wanting to warranty it himself and I don't know the circumstances. My question is why do you think the Snap on driver has seen that hammer before and why would there be an issue with warranty when it is not that uncommon for the plastic to go badI'd be worried that driver has seen this exact same hammer before and had already refused to warranty it.
I wouldn't trust anyone wanting me to warranty anything for them that they should be able to do so themselves.

So you don't need to know the size. Walk onto the truck, hand it to the dude and tell him you want another one. Then step back two steps cause he'll probably throw it at you. LOLI'd be worried that driver has seen this exact same hammer before and had already refused to warranty it.

It's worn out bad and I can't make it out... I tried but no luckThe model number and weight is on the hammer handle in that rectangle shown in your picture. Reverse side.
My buddy doesn't have a snap on guy around him anymore... Been awhile since they had one. He was up up to see me this week and brought it with him hoping I could because we have a guy come thru every once and awhile. It's been through hell and high water and can't even make out the model number anymore... I figured someone here might know what it was so I had an idea what size it wasSo you don't need to know the size. Walk onto the truck, hand it to the dude and tell him you want another one. That sounds like an absolutely miserable existence. Jeez, man.Because my nature is to not trust anyone. I automatically think the worst of everyone until they show me good reason to think different about them. I was raised that trust is something earned, not given.
Luckily his friend isn’t asking you to warranty it for him. I’m sure Snap On appreciates your white knighting for them.Did they buy it on eBay? Perhaps already in bad shape for pennies? Guess what, that's fraud trying to warranty it and I want no part of it I don't care what kind of so-called friend you are
We're not trying to fraud snap on, was just a question if anyone had an idea what size it was... He can't remember, it's been a few years since he had a snap on guy and it's been sitting in the bottom of his box for a bit because it seen better daysBecause my nature is to not trust anyone. I automatically think the worst of everyone until they show me good reason to think different about them. I was raised that trust is something earned, not given. Wanting me to warranty an item for anyone for anything sets off all of my red flags, especially knowing there is no good reason they cant warranty it themselves if they actually bought it new and it should be covered under warranty.

Snap-on's warranty isn't like Craftsman, where no receipt needed it's guaranteed just because you have it in your hand. Snap-on's warranty "only extends to the original Customer and cannot be transferred or assigned."

Buddy gave me this hammer to get warrantied but can't remember the size and I'm not sure either with it all being broke up. Any ideas?
That's kinda what I was thinking, thanks! He wasn't sure if it was a 16 or maybe a 24...Looks about 16 ounces to me.
Whatever. That sure does not sound like what you stated in your OP.
I literally asked what size it was, just because I didn't say he doesn't have a snap on dealer anymore means nothing.
Yes that's what he did... He's my buddy and asked me to get it warrantied... If he still has his snap on guy around he would of done it himself... Not his fault his guy went bankrupt and closed up shop. anything else to add special agent? You 'literally" said "Buddy gave me this hammer to get warrantied"
It don't get much clearer than that. You do you.
Ok bossThat's exactly what you did.
Perfect, will measure it in the AM, thanks for the help!@Fusion13

This site is weird AF. I got schooled by at least a dozen GJers for warrantying a Craftsman tool I found, even though that does not go against their lifetime guarantee policy. Everyone said I was committing fraud and how it was so unethical.
This guy is literally going against Snap-on's stated warranty to get a replacement for someone else and it's cool
Dude is wound tighter than a nine day clock…
Omg my guy, give it a rest... Every snap on dealer has done this more then once... Better call snap on and report everyoneThen your driver is committing fraud to Snap-on. It's still fraud.
Edit: That would also make it an interstate commerce violation, a federal felony.
I guess we're all going to jailI had a dealer that encouraged "fraud". He would warranty anything whether I bought it or not, even if the date code was older than I was.
If you buy a lot of tools, I don’t see why a dealer wouldn’t warranty anything that he or she knew that they would be credited for.I had a dealer that encouraged "fraud". He would warranty anything whether I bought it new or not, even if the date code was older than I was.
