What did you do "IN" your garage today?

The bandsaw made cutting it look pretty easy. I'm working on giving it something of a horn and heel, and boy howdy, the 7 inch right angle grinder and cut off wheel took waaaaay longer to cut the parts that the bandsaw can't reach. Grinding after cutting is even more painfully slow. I'm thinking of trying to do the rest mostly with my POS mill-drill, but I don't like the idea of making that many tiny slivers in the garage where they could get in the dog's feet.

Not a good pic, but I'm not seeing any way to clamp this in the vise of my 7x12 and make longitudinal cuts for the cutaways. I'm not sure it's a good idea to try to give it a horn and heel, but I have rarely been accused of always making good decisions.

I'm playing with the idea of a 4-1/2 inch carbide tipped hole saw to cut approximately on the white lines, If I can figure out how to secure the raillevel on my wore-slap-out RF30 clone mill drill.

My friend does commercial HVAC and he sent me some pictures of them. He's not shy about spending money as work covers all his tool expenses and more. He just didn't want to give another company any money if he could give it to me.

Few months ago he bought a large $300+ pipe flange from McMaster Carr and had it shipped to my house so I can make a large breaker bar type tool. He had also provided the steel rod and pipe to make said tool.

Said it was better spending that with me than buying a $1,800 tool for a one-time use.

That pipe flange? It's on my garage floor as it weighs a **** ton

The sheets aren't heavy at all as I can lift them easily (fortunately).

It's the main reason for owning just a 4' x 4' CNC table - I'd never be able to man handle a 4' x 8' sheet of 3/16" as a 4' x 4' only weighs about 110lbs.

To make things easier, I'll typically get my 4' x 8' sheets cut down to 2' x 4' size as it allows me to load up two different material thicknesses on the table for most parts.

A lift of some sort would totally be cool though but no money or space for one. Plus I wouldn't know how to set one up properly for loading/unloading steel.

As for recovery, there isn't any. Injuries were from '06.

Does your girl suffer from sciatica or the sort? A quality pair of shoes goes a long way.

Have you ever considered a rope come-a-long with a either a heavy-duty magnet or material squeeze like those used for carrying panel sheets? I have one with rubber grip pads on each side that I have moved 2x2 sheets of metal on my ceiling mounted electric winch. I have to be really careful with the load factor, but it is doable.

Dug out the creeper I'm giving my son. That required moving a lot of ****, 2 welders, blast cabinet, jointer and a tool chest/box.
Decided to clean a little before putting things away. Ended up taking all afternoon, but it looks better.

First I needed to enlarge the space in my miter saw/aux. work bench. Nothing is ever as simple as it seems. I needed to remount my six drawer craftsman mini box as well rearrange my speciality clamp storage.

Working slow after an unscheduled appendix removal Wednesday night/ Thurs morning .. just some more glue up for the table project. This is leg 3 of 4. Depending on the final dimensions after another few passes through the planer or joiner I may add one more layer to keep the proportions appealing to the top dimensions. I don't have many actually! But the few I do, are pretty close.

We visit and stay at each others houses at least once or twice a year - one lives some 4+ hours south, and the other 5+ hours north east.

Our kids all get along well, and even though they were my friends to begin with, all our wives get along as well (very well lol scary)

Then we planned out a meet to go wheeling.

For me it was a 17hr drive home, but 14hr drive TO. I say 14 because I spent that night with my girlfriend (now wife) and left to Moab from there which was a tad closer.

One guy came from Arizona, two from Nevada, one from North Carolina (flew in), another from Utah, and two others from northern California.

I had only ever met/known the friend I convoy'd with for the 14 hour drive as he lived in Southern California (while I lived on the Central Coast).

Take it from me, I had to grow up quick but I never take out my hardship on anyone else

I'm still at the age where we grew up to be men and tough it out, etc

I still do that now lol but I've learned empathy which took me a long time to do

You find yourself others wanting to surround themselves with your company and vice versa, and it does a lot of good for one's mental health

Using a 5/8" bolt hole to run a long bolt through it

He's ordering me a pipe jack to keep just to use as a means of "mocking up" for the V in case the pipe jack I have differs at all

They've all been really easy to manage - not just the customers but the requests as well.

However, I have told others 'NO' although it's been maybe 2 years since I denied one job. I did so because what they suggested to pay me was downright insulting.

Many a time I could have used one of those--but got by with a piece of angle iron and a couple of chain clamps.

I'm sure he has tons of tools - his entire van has every Milwaukee tool you can think of.

Sounds like you have the base for one hell of a vise or grinder stand!

What I used the angle and clamps for was to maintain concentricity in the two pipes--or SS tubing or rod--I was welding together. It works surprisingly well. I'd only use the angle and clamps to tack it together, then complete the welds using tri-stand and pipe jacks.

Your guy is in an entirely different league!

Mostly finished up the shop sink. Just need to finish up the plumbing, hang the water heater, and fasten the sink to the countertop. I was able to use up some laminate that I got from my brother back in 96/97. Ya, I tend to hold onto stupid **** sometimes. It only took me 15 minutes to find the gallon of contact cement I bought a couple months back. Next is finding the water service line at the house. It comes up through the slab in the garage.

I dug out the mower and got yard done. Then in my arrogance thought I'll tackle that 5 minute job on the sprinkler system. Thought I could thread in an elbow that had backed again...nope it was cracked this time.

Trip to the hardware store and broke out the shovel. Tried to eliminate the pipe strain. Less than a complete success but less than before. Oh and it was 2 hours...cleaned and was only 45 minutes late to meeting up with friends from high school/college.

There is a thread on "Rail Anvil's", and some are downright works of art. I have one someone else made up and I've done a little more cleanup on it since the pic was taken in 2018. While no substitute for a real anvil its is great for cold forming stuff and general beating:

The lower portion looks like it could be used as a support for welding together various diameters of tubing. Maybe tank fabrication.
