@XJSuperman, @zmotorsports I had never seen or heard of a centurion so I had to go do some quick reading on it. I would love to swap my powerstroke drivetrain into that thing! Its a cool looking truck and the OBS Ford trucks are a soft spot for me as I have owned a few. With my kids growing, I kinda wonder how much longer my extended cab is a viable option before they outgrow it. Something like this is cool and definitely different, but the last thing I need is a basketcase project.

I think you need to pull the trigger. That would be awesome with a diesel platform under it. They are rare and a well-done restoration would be even more rare, which you are more than capable of.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Mike! I may have to stop in and see if I can take a better look at it next week when I head up there.

20251207_203230.jpg She loves tomato soup with a grilled cheese and its an easy way to get her to actually eat a lunch. I have a busy week coming up as we try to get the rover transmission job completed this week, and try to get these benches cleared off and some organization for hand tools created.
That's a pretty slick way to freeze soup, I might steal this. 😁

Soup update 3 soup hockey pucks make a good sized single serving.

Spent the weekend working on an F150, went from an oil change and rotate to all fluids, sway bar links, and a full inspection. I removed a ton of excess RTV from the rear diff cover, 20251213_142545.jpg20251213_144203.jpgand after cleaning it up I finally got to the point of being able to use my parts washer to clean the inside of the cover. With it all nice and clean it got reinstalled with a proper amount of sealant and torqued to spec. Next up was replacing the busted sway bar links20251212_210811.jpgand then finally addressing the check engine light which was due to broken wires at the evap purge valve. 20251212_205133.jpg with all these issues addressed the trans filter was replaced, transfer case and front diff fluid replaced and wiring handled it went out the door.

I picked up the presents for the boys last night. They are getting RC buggies this year, they used to love my nitro car ao I hope they enjoy these. 20251214_135414.jpg
They each got one in a different color so theres no confusion of which one belongs to which boy. I also got myself an early present in the form of a new multimeter. 20251214_123433.jpgmine had blown the amp circuit and even with a new fuse it wont work. So time to get another one after 20 years.

Finally the temp dropped last night and the high today was around midnight. Its 18 degrees outside so it was a good day to make a pot of chili. 20251214_144209.jpg
The early start of it. I snuck in beans in my wifes chili by blending them into a puree again. She doesnt notice and I dont mention it. Other than that its been a productive weekend. This week will be crazy busy with a few big jobs rolling into the shop, along with the regular weekly duties. Hoping to finally get my benches cleaned up and workable again since that didnt happen last week.

It would appear Krampus has come and blessed me with more Euro work20251216_092624.jpg20251216_094454.jpg I had to unpack it all before I left for work to make sure I got it all. Nextfew days will be full of Porsche, Audi and BMW work before diving intoremoving an oil pan on my father in laws truck to work out a low oil pressure issue.

I am also voting for the Centurion project! That sounds amazing!
Man its tempting, I have looked at that pic probably 50 times since I took it. I have a nurse wanting to bring her 96 Bronco in for suspension work and it feels like I keep getting little hints dropped here and there pushing me towards trying to buy it.

You know if you don't it will continue to eat at you and eat at you until you pull the trigger. THEN there are certain people here who won't drop it. Not saying who, just there are 'some' that won't let it go until it is in your shop being restored.

If I didnt already have the TJ project in a million pieces and no time for it, I could almost justify the centurion.

Last night we had an A4 Audi in for engine mounts and a transmission pan gasket. Jeff was humming right along when I got a text about a bolt issue. I was looking at it and the bolt in question comes down through the mount into the subframe. Its a triplesquare drive and was stripped out. I grabbed my sawzall and cut through the aluminum body of the mount and the bolt. I was pretty sure I had cut far enough so I hit it with the air hammer and it popped the bolt head off. Mount came right out and the bolt unscrewed by hand with the tension removed. 20251217_201006.jpg
No damage to the car, new mounts went right in, also got a new set of front brakes and we can button it up once we get a new bolt today.

Last night while the A4 was occupying the lift I got started on an Audi Allroad, which is basically just an A4 wagon. I pulled it in and sucked the oil out, 20251218_163218.jpgthen replaced the filter. These have an odd filter that is supposed to not drain back. 20251218_163904.jpg
Once Jeff finished the A4 we swapped places and got this one on the lift. He pulled the axle and I had a new outer cv joint to install on it. I cut the clamps, gave the joint a few good taps and off it came. 20251218_194841.jpg
I then flipped the axle, slid the boot off and cleaned old grease from the shaft. 20251218_195050.jpg
New clamp and boot went on, filled with grease, and new joint packed with grease. I went to install the joint only to find the diameter of the splined inner race was much larger than the shaft. I stopped and reinstalled the original end so I could put the axle back in and put the car outside. I will have to get a correct joint even though this one showed to be a match.

My father in law dropped his truck off this evening for me to get started on. I waffled and decided at the last minute I was going to replace the oil pump as well. So while I am tearing it down I wont have parts until tomorrow morning. I dropped the front diff out, thankful for my trans jack and Jeff stopping by to pick up parts for his truck. With the diff out of the way I drained the oil which started the disaster of the evening.20251219_203500.jpg20251219_203449.jpg Since draining my oil drain is a pain, and its hard to see in the 5 gallon buckets, I dont do it as often as I should. You can see where this might be an issue. Well I had an Exxon Valdez tonight as it overflowed into the floor. I was tossing down pig mats as quick as I could tear them off and then I got the buckets and started pumping oil into 5 gallon buckets. With the buckets filling, I went ahead and broke out the kitty litter to absorb the mess. I hate to make a mess like this and it makes me feel stupid, but lessons learned the hard way are not easily forgotten.20251219_203454.jpgI got up top on the truck and popped the water pump off 20251219_205641.jpgthen broke out my puller and got the balancer removed, 20251219_211536.jpg
And then finally removed that nasty timing cover. Its marinating in the parts washer currently. 20251219_212748.jpg
All thats left is to remove the oil pan and then oil pump and pick up can come out.

Finally completed the 6.2 oil pump work after what seeemd like a never ending parade about town for parts and tools. Its on me for not preparing myself for the job, but I called an audible on doing the pump at the last minute. The initial job was only going to be the pickup and oil pressure relief valve. New oil pump and " improved " o ring seal for pickup. 20251220_104102.jpg
Cleaning and prepping for install of new oil pump and cover 20251220_104147.jpg
Parts spent a lot of time getting scrubbed in the parts washer. 20251220_154251.jpg
Here is the oil pressure relief valve in place and ready to rock. With most all of it together and still no way to get balancer on, I ended up going to 3 different parts stores that all showed having the installer tool. I fonally got ahold of it came home and had it running shortly after. I used my zip tie trick to get the stretch belt installed. 20251221_111338.jpg
And the final result20251221_154513.jpg with that truck done this afternoon we managed to squeeze in a 4 corner brake job/ lof and a caddy brake fluid flush rotate and lof for a girl I work with who is leaving to be a travel nurse. Its been a crazy busy weekend, and this week will be wild as well with Christmas, trying to squeeze a months worth of work into 2 days so I can spend some time with the family. Time to slow down cook something good and relax tonight.

I started posting and somehow just put the one pic and posted it instead of my find from yesterday. I made it back up to where the centurion was yesterday and stopped and studied the truck for a few minutes trying to decide if it was worth finding the owner and trying to make a deal. Needless to say I will be passing on this particular truck. 20251223_134159.jpg20251223_134121.jpg20251223_134130.jpg20251223_134136.jpg20251223_134155.jpg

I feel like its way more work than I want to put into it, and this one is a half ton variant. I wouldnt be comfortable towing my 5000 lb boat behind it, and its twin traction beam 4wd since its a half ton. These were also made on one ton frames from what I have found and were it a one ton truck this might be a different discussion.

Got home and had a small project arrive to knock out. Im tire of looking at my jackstands on the floor so I got some brackets to hold them up. 20251223_174241.jpgfrom this,
20251223_205046.jpg
To this. I have one more to put up but that stand is holding my parts table up until I learn fusion and make a caster support on the 3d printer🤣

Lastly, I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and spend some time with your families and friends. This forum is awesome and I appreciate all who stop in here and give advice, and encouragement as I work thru all these neverending vehicles for others. Heres hoping this year is the year for my Jeep to materialize into a running vehicle!

I've been quiet about the Centurion, was hoping you'd pass on it. Originally from the northeast, I've had my fill of rust repairs. BTW, I think it's the first one I've ever seen on a 1/2 ton chassis!

Merry Christmas!

I hope yall had a great Christmas with the families!

The centurion was rough, and half ton was definitely a no go. It has given me a bit of motivation to make my truck my own though. Other than the spray in bedliner and topper its all stock. I might finally come around to trying to find some better seats and a few other mods to increase the comfort of riding in a hard *** work truck.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas, the boys loved their RC cars and I found out what it feels like to get a 1/10 scale buggy to the ankle at 30 mph. I could not believe how fast these cars were out of the box. I started them in training mode to try and get them used to the power of the cars. Before I knew it they had changed them to race mode and were building ramps and raising hell all about the yard. 20251225_111042.jpg20251225_111038.jpg
These cars are wheelie machines, and are light in the front. I am going to order some weights to try and keep the front end down to handle better.

I was also given a really cool gift from my in laws. My mother in law got me an engraved decanter and glass set. 20251225_200345.jpg20251225_184005.jpg
The set is really nice and has a nice walnut base to hold it and walnut coasters. I look forward to having a pour and getting to use this set!

Figuring out how to get out of learn mode ASAP is just what I would expect boys your ages to do right off the bat!! They did not disappoint!
Very nice decanter set - enjoy!
Merry Christmas to you and yours! Glad the Centurion came into clearer focus for you.
Thanks Gary! Same to you and yours!

I did a bit of post Christmas shopping for the shop yesterday and acquired this Husky magnetic light for 24 dollars at the ol big orange store. 20251227_190655.jpg20251227_190652.jpg20251227_190641.jpg
Light came in handy last night busting out a 30k on a corolla for a buddy in from Nashville area. I also picked up a Ryobi electric pressure washer. It was not the active pressure washer I wanted, but the price was right and it flows almost 2 gpm. We will see how it works later today when it gets unboxed. Will be good to try out because my poor car is nasty.

I got a chance to use the Ryobi yesterday on my disgusting car. A month of hard road miles and brine from Kentucky and east Tennessee roads had made my car a mess. I had thought maybe a lower psi washer would help with my foaming abilities of my foam cannon. Well, it didnt. 20251228_113919.jpg20251228_124202.jpg
I used both Carpro reset and Adams ceramic soaps and neither foamed well. I also tried the included foam cannon that came with the pressure washer with no luck as well. I guess I am going to have to try a different foam cannon with adjustable orifices as neither of these is doing what I want. Otherwise the pressure washer did well and the volume of water seemed to do great for washing the car. It also has nice rubber protected tips so you dont scratch your finish, though Im not sure why you would be that close to your painted surfaces. It includes a shorty gun and also has a wand attachment to add some length to the gun should you need it.20251229_085045.jpg It was nice to work with considering the inconvenience of starting and shutting down the gas powered washer like I do. I am going to work out a shelf mount for it and see about plumbing it in as a permanent fixture in the shop after new years. The rest of this messed up short week is going to be busy with several cars I need to finish up for the year. The list keeps growing so it's a blessing for me.

Yeah I think you have to pay attention to orifice size in relation to pressure washer performance. I personally think foam cannons are a pain.....SO MANY SUDS!!!! I'm always racing the soap drying time, and just have never been able to slow down and wash like I do with buckets. Ymmv

Happy New Year! 2025 was a hell of a ride for me, with job changes, family stuff, the growth in my shop, and all the rest of what life gets sprinkled with. I have been blessed to be where I am and doing what I am doing and for that I am truly grateful. With a new year comes a chance to make a resolution to be broken by end of the month, but my men's group leader challenged us not to make a resolution, but to make a goal and to make a plan on how to achieve that goal. I have not decided on mine yet, with my new job my goal is to beat my prior year numbers. Doing so shows that we are experiencing growth and that we are doing what needs to be done to make people want to use our facilities.
For my personal goals, I believe this year my goal will be to get more organized in my life. I get tired of not feeling orderly, though I am almost always well prepared. I feel like those 2 go hand in hand. I have my notebook for work that I take everywhere, so making lists and being able to mark off those lists is getting better. I am using the whiteboard in the shop to keep track of incoming jobs and to make sure I can write out what each one requires. It needs to be moved because its hard to reach.

Lastly, is keeping my spaces clean and tidy. Im so sick of looking at messy benches and all my flat spaces being covered in junk. My bench is torn apart for a strengthening program currently, but as it goes back together, I am going to make a conscious effort to keep it clean. Time to make the shop more efficient!

I can't start the new year without a few new tools either. These arrived yesterday but will be making their shop debut today. First up I purchased this battery/ charging system tester to replace my failing Midtronics tester20260101_084917.jpg20260101_084939.jpg
I used one at the local parts store and it was easy enough my boys could use it and they were on sale and have a great warranty through my parts guys.
Next up was a pricey piece of kit for what you get. I bought a time sert kit for repair of a BMW oil pan 20260101_085123.jpg
There were cheaper China kits I could have purchased, but I have always used time serts branded kits with good results so I stuck with what I knew. Finally, was that while replacing the oil pump in my father in laws truck I accidentally lowered the truck onto my 3/8 impact and cracked the plastic handle housing. Its been a great gun especially for how old it is. At over 10 years old its held up well and been smashed by a lift twice in its life. 20260101_085028.jpg
New Dewalt atomic brushless impact to replace it. 20260101_085037.jpg20260101_084956.jpgshorter, and significantly more torque. Looking forward to using this one. I am closing out my shop books for the year, this has been another part of me better organizing my life. I have kept records of what jobs I have done for the last 2 years and it has been a big morale booster to see how much I turn out here and how productive I can be. The goal is that all work performed in my shop pays the payment for the building, pays for all my tools, and that any toys I want to purchase are paid for with shop money. This system has worked well for me and as I continue working out here I get to see the heloc balance drop which is a good feeling. Enough rambling from me, time to get this stuff implemented and get working. Happy New Year!

First project of the new year. Clean up my chemical area. I have run out of space with my current shelving and needed something better. Jeff called yesterday and found these at Porsche because they rebuilding the dealership. He grabbed a unit and brought them here today. I went from this mess here 20260101_095315.jpg
To this 20260101_111318.jpg

I just need to clean up the old shelving unit and find a place for it.

How do those mini-bulk oil boxes work out, better $$$$ wise or just convenient to have that much on hand? Less waste and trash or more profit?
Sterling, they are 6 gallons per box. My price is like 79 dollars a box. It makes a lot less waste without storing 5 qt containers, is more profitable for me, and best guess from the internet was the oil was made by Texaco/ Havoline and has done well for the last 5 years I have been using them. I will still use any supplied oil, but most folks dont really care and I have not had any issues with this oil.

We had them out today. There is a church around the corner with a softball field, we got on the dirt infield and they were totally different cars. On the driveway or in the grass, they hook up and wheelie so bad its almost uncontrollable. On the sandy dirt of the infield, the traction isnt as good but they drive so much better. The multi rib fronts steer better, and they seem to be where they are meant to be. I imagine that its more like a real sand rail on this type surface. Boys went nuts over it until batteries died. I took our disc golf discs with us and we threw them for awhile after the batteries went down. Good afternoon with the kids. When we got back I let my youngest use the jig saw and make some plywood cutouts for my diesel heater base. Now it will pack up a bit tighter.
