Howdy y'all. My first post. I have read articles off this forum for years finally decided to join.

My Cousin gave me a JH Williams superector wrench. It is in pretty good shape. I have taken it apart to clean it and I decided heck, I want this thing to look like it was brand new.

I am thinking powder coating the handle is the way to go.

Then I will go down to a local machine shop and have them make me a 1 inch to 3/4 adapter I can put in it, So I can use my standard 3/4 sockets when working on my tractor.

There seems so little literature available about this line of tools. I would love more info and if anyone can tell me, what color should I have this wrench made.

Looks like it might have been a mid range red of some kind.

Welcome to GJ! If you stick around, and your projects and interests widen and deepen, note that the Sticky at the top of the thread has a handy A-Z Index of Threads that are not subject to the descending chronology format of the forum.

The Internet Archive International Hand Tool Catalog, which you will see abbreviated as IA, IA/ITCL, ITCL, etc here on GJ includes dozens of Williams catalog from the 30's through the 70's. I have linked it set to J.H. Williams and in order of publishing HERE, this time, but you should make IA/ITCL one of your main sources for info. Scroll through them. I remember helping someone else out on this not too long ago and the "Superector" was "baked light grey enamel" through at least 1952. But I don't know if they might've switched to red later. If you use the GJ Search tool, set to [This forum], and search on "Superector", you will see a few other examples, in the Williams thread, and also a couple solo threads, like this one.

Thanks for the info. That is a fascinating database.
