Hey guys, those of you who have used metal panels for garage ceiling, where did you buy them? I'm not having much luck finding basic interior panels in CT/Tri-State area. Did you buy them locally or have them shipped? I did search this site and didn't find too many leads.

I'm out in the woods in nowheresville but there's a place about 30 miles away that rolls it out through dies to a couple different rib patterns, any color, any length. Surely to goodness there must be a place like this near you.

What exactly did you search, what words ? This may be part of your issue.

Don't use "metal panels"

try something like . . .

ribbed metal siding
pole building materials
post frame supplies
Amish builders
liner panels

Who in your area puts up the post frame buildings ? Where are they getting their supplies ?

Isn't liner panel just 29 gage?

Home depot, but be prepared to overpay
Yes, usually is.

If you're referring to my comment about not using "metal panels", that was in reference to search words trying to find what he needs. He may need to be more specific when utilizing his GoogleFu if he's having trouble searching.

I wasn't, but I agree.

Any metal roofing supplier should be able to get 29 gage panels in whatever color he wants and most lengths. Home depot may have them in stock in a few options

@MikeC55 where in CT? I see a few ABC locations. Best bet may be a smaller yard, but not sure where/what's around you

Thanks, guys. I was searching on 'metal ceiling panels'. I'll try the alternates. I'm between Danbury and Norwalk and will check with a local lumber yard (Rings End). I'm not sure who does metal buildings / pole barns in this area. I think 22/24 gage is a little heavier than for my needs.

I'd be shocked if they can't get it

Edit: these guys definitely do, as I buy ABC up here and they list it:

If you are looking for suppliers, look for metal roofing. Then ask if they make a thinner interior rib panel.

Road Trip!

Point being, your local lumberyard should be able to get the steel, but it’s not going to be the lowest price.
And neither are the big box stores, including Menards. The lowest cost supplier will be the folks that roll the metal in house. In most populous regions one should be within 100 miles.

Menards rolls their own.
Interesting, but I thought I've read they have some onerous shipping costs if you are very far away from their location?

Also, Menards is not everywhere. I'd wager I could beat Menards prices no matter where I was located. Getting to know the local metal roller will always pay dividends.

I had special ordered some, online Sunday evening and ready for pick up Tuesday morning when truck was unloaded....Holiday City, Ohio is where they have the plant....or at least one of them.

I believe the only shipping charge I had was the "crating" charge. It was like all 2x6 material and once you broke it down, could be returned for credit...I used my CC. This was of course, shipped to store for customer pick up.

Keep in Menards has various manufacturing plants and mills. This allows them to cut ou the the middle man, sell at a cheaper price, passing the savings on to the customer.

That is exactly my point. Menards is the middle man... The less expensive option is straight from the metal roller, not the Menards owned roller.
