Might have been me, but not that recently.

Y6 Glassesr.jpg

Those are not actually safety glasses, but for really close fine work...

And with a pair of safety glasses:

Glasses a.jpg

Before I got the cataract surgery done, I used those a few times for the mentioned really close work. Since then, maybe once.

The thick ones are actually bifocals. the old guy's eyes had to have been legally blind.
Those are cool but it was a pair more visually similar to mine.

Went out yesterday AM for this pile of junk….. Seller had it on FBM for $5 and had the Pee Dee thread measuring wires for another $5. Sometimes you gotta study these pics to see exactly whats there. He cleaned out a beautiful Gerstner and riser and sold all the contents. I guess these were the leavings…. I had the Starrett snug boxes & bag for the extension. The pin Vise is Blue-Point and I already had the bits. Surface gage (tiny) is no-name ( SPI ? ) and the snugs and extension arm are Starrett. Neat Snap-On punch and chisel gauge & Starrett scribe attachment. Heli-Coil kit is eh… but all there. CNC’d level is made by Toyoda mach.

I have no idea what the hell the stand is. Could be a assembly or inspection fixture or an award… lol.

Is the battery viable?
It's got dents and some bulging corners, knowing my luck it'll pop like a balloon if I try putting it into service. I really only need this particular battery to look pretty for a display I'm piecing together.

@Tarantula nice find on that Walden T-handle.
Belonged to a ballerina. The spinning couldn't have been a coincidence.

Finally got a moment to post some of the items I picked up at an estate sale 2 weeks ago. Saw an add at work and made a mad dash for the sale. Paid $35 for everything but that was a good deal in my book! While I was there it was a little bitter sweet. The farm and house reminded me a lot of my grandparents farm. They both have passed in the past 5 years but I still miss 'em. Wish I could go back in time but I can't :)

-3 separate but functional snap on speeders! All detents work and the handles are free. The longest is 36" . The smallest is a ferret which Ive been looking for
-sk 3/8 drive small head long handle
- early plomb battery pliers
-craftsman slip joints with the cool handle design. Ive been looking for these for a while and have resisted paying the eBay prices
-deep sr socket

Paid a quick visit to my small local car boot sale yesterday morning and then went a further couple of miles to a small boat jumble.

The spray can holder was £2. They are made in the UK and £18 new.
Large Geo Plumpton & Co caliper. UK Govt broad arrow property mark but no date. The broad arrow is of an earlier style and so I would put the caliper nearer to WW1 than WW2.
B.S.A. No1 DOE 1/8 x 3/16 Whit openings.
No name Whitworth thread gauge. It has been taken apart in the past and one of larger fingers has been put back in the wrong order.
Bedford Vanadium 3/14 x 1/4 DOE. UK Govt broad arrow property mark and 1968 date.
Moore and Wright center punch.
No Name round nose punch.
Trend drill/countersink.

Someone here bought an old pair of safety glasses a little while back. I can’t seem to find the post. I picked up this old pair for $1 just to see what they were. The only marking is “B-I”. I wish they weren’t so narrow or I’d have to get some use out of them. I like the folding mesh sides.
IMG_3174.jpegIMG_3175.jpegIMG_3176.jpeg
B-I or B-L probably Bausch & Lomb. My current prescription "grandpa" safety glasses are just like those. Mine are AO 3M with the mesh "Breeze Catcher" side shields. Looks like 3M has sold off the safety glass thing to Pentax at least what comes up for my model number.

Picked up this set of knock out punches for a knock out price, $3!!
I have you beat: Mine were free--kind of. A former employer and friend left them to me. When he started ailing, he asked all his friends to make lists of which of his tools they wanted--he had no one else to leave them to--itemized by personal value. I think the Greenlee punches were #3 on my list, right after the Milwaukee self-feed bits, which I also got. I use them all regularly.

I responded to a CL listing last night, and the seller and I exchanged a few emails and then a phone call and agreed to meet earlier today. He just retired as a telephone/telecommunications repairman, and he had quite an interesting collection of stuff he was looking to unload:
new arrivals 070726 01.jpg
I haven't really had time to go through all of it yet, but I did a quick inventory while unpacking it and setting it up for the photos. Looks like we've got:

- Older telephone service kit in "leatherette" type suitcase with canvas pockets. The tools (what few remain) appear to be all Klein

- Later Jensen service kit containing all manner of weird gizmos we usually only see here in the "Bell Systems" thread - serious specialty stuff. Mostly Klein. Some odd brands that will keep me busy with the list and patents.

- a Craftsman 3-drawer "Rally" box containing an assortment of what look like late CM sockets, some cheapie wrenches, a nice Estwing claw hammer, and an NOS Buss fuse assortment. And an NOS Schwinn bolt-on kickstand.

- 2-gallon pump sprayer
- BIG Husky tool bag (my buddy will love this one. needs a bath.)
- Older Milwaukee battery-operated drill motor with charger. He said he thinks the battery is dead.
- Black & Decker small hand-held battery-operated "bit driver" in case

- 1.5 ton bottle jack
- 120V trouble light
- Proto 3/8" drive socket set (not sure if complete)
- a set of what appear to be Jensen 1/4" dr SAE sockets in a tiny rubber holder - these were manufactured by ProAmerica

- Diamond 6-inch slip joints
- Makita 1/4" sheet pad sander
- Makita 9.6V battery (who needs this? PM if interested. I have no use for this.)
- some sort of corded device I haven't figured out yet

- bottles of automotive chemicals
- PH2820A Champ and PH16 Fram oil filters (NOS)

BONUS:

The contents of these boxes contained not ONE used crimp-on electrical terminal, burned-out glass tube fuse, half a book of paper matches, loose staples, or any of the usual detritus one would ordinarily expect. Not sure if I should be disappointed.

All in: $97.50 (including bridge toll on the Narrows)

but electrical tape is not an insulator.
I pulled black tape off all kinds of objects in those boxes.

There was a small bottle of a clear liquid. Didn't have much smell to it at all. Thin. Not as thick as fingernail polish, but in the same type of bottle with a little brush cap. What would that be doing in a case of telephone tools?

I believe this company made most, if not all of them. https://www.fibrecase.com/aboutus.html

They do look very similar to what I have here, although the photo images are so tiny it's hard to tell.
Fibre Case Corp.'s phone number is answered by "Philly Case Co.", and the young lady who answered the phone hasn't been with the company long enough to know any history. Not sure if it was a merger, acquisition, or otherwise.
In any case, close enough. I don't need to dive into this rabbit hole.
What puzzled me enough to ask was the material used to construct the case. It's not plastic, and it's not cardboard, and it's not leather.
Not sure what they mean by "fibre", but it's definitely not plastic, cardboard, or leather. Interior is heavy khaki canvas with big brass zippers - real old school technology - which makes me think "early 1960s" before they discovered things like Velcro. Not a mark on it anywhere that might help identify it.

Thanks for your help, gentlemen.

Fibre / Fibre Case Corp., Wooster St., Brooklyn, NY / https://www.fibrecase.com/ / est. 1894 / tool storage systems / see Philly Case Co., Moorestown, NJ /

Philly / Philly Case Co., 365 New Albany Rd., Moorestown, NJ 08057 / https://www.phillycase.com/ / tool storage systems / successor to Fibre Case Corp., Brooklyn, NY /

I'll see if I can clear the waters with an inquiry via email.

Solo run this morning to Leesport Farmers Market flea. $15 yielded a Ford logo wrench, Kraeuter and S&H Red Devil pliers, three Ronson wrenches, and a “Whitaker Special S-1043” dbe battery terminal wrench (probably Bonney-made). $8 of the total went into the larger Red Devil (No777), which is in great condition. I had seen it with the same vendor a couple months ago, and not buying it then sat heavy on my heart.
