Been raining a bit, looks like it will be stopping soon, making progress, but no way am I going to get what I wanted done today. I still need to get the last 53’ box trailer tonight. I can physically fit it in the yard, but it is going to make things terrible when I go to finish moving things around. Oh well.
I dug out this little chunk of steel, it was a bit of a pain as it had sunk into the ground.

is the end goal to get off the hill? Or have things changed?
The end goal is to get the bulk off the Hill, but I am still renting the shop for the foreseeable future. Making the exit strategy easier is the current plan. Once I rebuild the Salvage Garage, then I would want to exit the Hill completely. It is baby steps right this minute, but things are starting to align, once that happens everything should be a bit easier.
The current emergency is to cleanup at the SG in prep for snow, we have a couple weeks left, but it will be here sooner than I want!

Got a bunch more moved, think I have the plan pretty much in order, I have to shuffle stuff as I go to maneuver the box trailers. Also been putting things in them that will have to come back out once they are all landed. I think I can have things pretty well situated by the middle of September. Depending on how everything goes, I may try and shuffle things one more time so that I can put gravel under the trailers so they won’t settle as much and the area can be leveled. This would make things easier for loading and unloading as well as snow removal.

The QR codes are up and running and I am still using the system, I am glad I spent the time and effort on it.
Movies are slower going, but I am using a program that catalogs them, been fine tuning it so next step is mass entry. Luckily the majority of that can be done with a barcode scanner, unluckily, the majority of my steelbook cases have no barcode...

Tangentially related question, where on Earth do you find your shelves and industrial cast-offs? I'm about to have a new garage space to fit out and would love to save some money! The only thing I have found nearby is the Ritchie Brothers auction place and they don't do drawers, bins, or pallet racking at this location. Any tips for finding this sort of stuff? If you have some unwanted and unloved stuff I am willing to drive to Maine!

Unfortunately I tweaked my back pretty good helping a buddy, been dragging me down for about a week now. I have help tomorrow, but it looks like it is going to be rain, so that is going to screw up my plans. Trying to get some things moved around so I will have the room to do some organizing inside the Salvage Garage. I am assessing my projects and trying to get things in order for the winter, really would like to fix one of the front end loaders ASAP, it would be helpful with the dirt work and the snow removal. One step at a time...

Sorry about your back. The rain we've been forecasted lately has been lighter than predicted. Any chance you could dodge most of tomorrow's rain?
The rain might not be too bad, they are saying 0.6" and it is 80% chance from about 11 to 5, lower chance before and after that timeframe. I have moved things around to make some room for activities so something is going to get done. I have to replace all the wheels on three of the pallet jacks I bought, that will be one of the projects for sure. I should have those inside before I leave with enough room to work on them. There is always something to do, just have to keep the motivation going and with my back sore, I am not sure how long I can fake it. 
Well, I screwed up a little bit, I haven’t used Baker, the little 24 volt inside forklift for a while and the battery is way too low to move it. I should have put it on charge earlier, but oh well. The pallet jacks are inside and hopefully there will be enough charge to be able to move Baker in the morning. I did buy another forklift specifically for the battery, but the lifting eye on one side is so nasty that I didn’t dare pick it up. I plan on welding a plate to distribute the weight back to the case before I take it out of the parts forklift. It was a refurbished battery that is not too old and holds a charge much better than the one currently in Baker.

Fixed.
That was my fear. My plan is to do some small plug welds on the new piece, then weld it to the top where I am away from the battery. Will be using a fan to blow air across and away from the weld, also going to use wet cloth as the battery will vent gas that will explode with enough heat. I have never had more than a pucker factor when dealing with them, but no sense in chancing anything.

Might be a dumb question, but are those buss bars removable? Then you just haul out individual cells and leaves the lifting tray free to repair sans the bits that like to go boom.

Good idea to be wary. I've been party to two battery explosions - one in an enclosed area, one relatively open. No one was hurt in either case, but neither one was pleasant, or safe.
They are soldered on, so yes they are removable, but not without more effort and risk.
I suspect that welding will actually be less dangerous than when I was using the torch to remove the lead bars thinking it was worth it only to realize it was absolutely not worth it.

Something about a rainy day.
I was picking up the title to the last 53' box trailer and the parts department had a 35 gallon barrel of miscellaneous truck and trailer lights, tag said up to 95% off. I asked the manager about buying them all and he looked at me like I had two heads, I told him I was serious. He started to say something about seeing what was in there, I told him I didn’t dig through them and the deal was he couldn’t either, I made an offer and they counter offered we agreed on a price and I walked away with a good deal. It is definitely a better deal than I original expected as there are more LED lights in there than I figured there would be. Just a couple that I looked up were $35 each and still good part numbers, I suspect they were taking them out of their inventory. They are also going to email me over the entire "obsolete" parts list, so there might be more good stuff.

Yesterday afternoon I went to pick up some perforated stainless steel sheets, all used stuff, but in good condition. The guy had some 80/20 as well, but he wanted me to take the entire frame and the old piece of equipment, it was a bit more than I thought, but what the heck. After that I went to look at a dump trailer that is designed to be used with a dump truck, so you can still dump the truck while the trailer is hooked up. It wasn't in bad shape, but it was in need of some repairs for sure. I think I could use it in the yard without much effort, would be cheaper than buying a dump truck, more stable than the big dump trailers, and better than moving a couple yards at a time. I did not put an offer in, going to think on it a bit.

The use that you are thinking, well, the trailer would need to be MUCH bigger. The Royce setup is missing some pieces and parts, but it has some inspection cameras and a nice Sony B&W monitor for your viewing pleasure. I just looked at it as some linear rails and a few motors, but who knows what it will be. I just moved it into a trailer for right this minute. I am trying to get a few things done to make access inside the shop so I can do a few more things. My back and neck are fighting me, so I am trying to be a bit cautious, no sense in making it worse (it is much better than it was!).
I have done a really quick sorting of the random barrel of lights, ended up with a pretty decent amount of LEDs and some are ones that I actually use. There ended up being a lot of the pigtails for the lights and a bunch of mounting brackets too. I have a feeling some are going to be useful while others are going to be sold. I did a quick look on eBay and there are several part numbers that sell consistently for a decent amount, most were over $10 each plus shipping. Some were closer to $30 each, I am going to do a Marketplace listing and see if any sell locally first, I won't have time for eBay until after white stuff season starts.
