HF Oscillating Multi-Tool coupon code 45802832 works online, making it $20. Shipping is $9, so grab a freebie to make it more worthwhile. (This is its after-Thanksgiving sale price too).

http://toolguyd.com/2010/11/current-harbor-freight-freebies-deals/

To be honest, I would never buy this for myself, but you guys seem to like it.

Edit: Auzivision - 1/10 the cost for a fraction of the quality & performance. HF is not an adequate Fein substitute.

Just curious, if you would never buy one or use a HF model, how do you know it’s “a fraction of the quality & performance”? What is it the Fein can do that the HF model can’t?

I’ve never seen or used a Fein in person, so I can’t make judgment on its quality. I have personally used a HF model and it appears to perform just as good as the Fein infomercials seen on TV.

It would be great if someone would do a head to head comparison on these, then we would have more than simple subjective data.

Here's a recent comparison, but not with the HF model.

Do you honestly believe that a $20 tool will compare to a $200 tool? Will a $2 cheeseburger from Burger King compare to a $20 Rib Eye? Obviously not.

I've seen the Fein in action, and it's quite a marvelously smooth tool. It's definitely not worth the cost for what I'd use it for, but it's considered the top of the line for a reason.

Is the Fein 10 times better? Doubtful, but I'm sure that it's still measurably better all around. Will the $20 tool offer adequate performance for many people's needs? Possibly, but it's foolish to think that you'll get the same performance & build quality for a tenth of the price.

I bought the Fein tool at a pawn shop a few years ago for $40 and like it. I was given the HF tool last year for Christmas and honestly it is every bit as good as the Fein. I can not tell any difference other than the Fein being variable speed.

I'll try to keep an open mind, but it's not easy. I've broken so many low quality tools and so many "bargain" parts and components that I'm extremely leery of ultra-cheap products.

e.g. Why pay $85 for a computer power supply when you can get one for $15, or less after rebate? "fizzle, fizzle, POP" goes the entire system. Hadn't happened to me, but happened to a roommate.

I picked up both SAE and metric of the earthquake impact socket sets that get such great reviews for 15.00 each.

Thanks for sharing! I saw those Earthquake impact sockets at my HF a few days ago on clearance but marked $29.99, so I kept walking. After reading your post I went back and ended up with both sets for $12 each!

Sounds you have the original HF model. I have the upgrade one with variable speed and I see they have added two additional models (air powered and a cordless one) for a total of four current models. I'd buy that the Fein is better but apparently not much from reports of those that have used both! :)

Well, when in Whitehorse, YT, this summer I bought cheeseburger w/frys for $18CN and I think the BK Whopper would match up pretty good against it!

Whitehorse, YT... now there is a place not a lot of people get to see.

Were you traveling the Alaskan highway? Maybe you were checking out the semi famous world's largest weather vane? Anyhow, the McDonalds inside Wal-Mart has a decent, yet over priced cheeseburger.

Now the Fenix deal looks pretty sweet even when compared to a generic Romisen RC-29 ;)

Yup, I just picked up the metric set for $12 (with coupon). I also bought the following items on clearance:

$1.07 folding handle torx set (not sure what they are called)
$4.77 indexable pry bar (15" I think - shorter one was cheaper)
$2.17 brass punch (standard and tapered available)
$.87 car interior wipes

I hadn't been to HF in a while, but I'm glad I did. I'm tempted to go back and pick up another pry bar with a coupon, but I don't think I'll really need another one.

Ah well. $25 and change still isn't bad, dropped from $30 this morning.

back on????

Ealier I added 2 to my cart, tried to check out and it said they were sold out. When I searched they did not show up, only the amazon $25 one. I tried again a few minutes ago and suddenly it shows up and I could order it.

Amazon is wacky!

Whoever snagged this set got one heck of a deal. I was in negotiations with the wife-monster on this one. It would have been perfect to carry in the truck.

Sadly I lost this one. But I promise not to talk to the wife-monster for at least 17 hours.

saw that yesterday but didn't realize that it was actually a deal... damn.

Not as good, but still a beta set for under $100:

I had to really restrain myself from buying it. I've got a really nice Wera set and couldn't justify buying it.

Sears "Cyber Monday" deals aren't being released, but new coupon codes are being updated. I put up a sidebar graphic on DealGuyd that will be automatically updated as new info is released.

http://dealguyd.com/

Thus far it looks like coupon "cyber" will give free shipping on $49+ orders.

Just a suggestion: can we spin off a separate Amazon deals thread? Then all the "here & gone" Amazon deals can have their own place to go and this thread can be for brick & mortar stores and other online deals.

Some Amazon deals, such as the early Black Friday Deals I posted on TG, are not volatile, and should be in stock for a reasonable amount of time.

Maybe we should have another thread for those "here & gone" deals, what does everyone else think?

A deal is a deal, right? I'd say 3/4 of this thread is Amazon anyhow...

I'd vote to spin off the Harbor Freight stuff. I think that makes much more sense. This thread has become loaded with HF junk and HF coupons, there I said it. It makes it hard to cut through all that to find real tool deals.

Since everything in HF is a "deal" I don't know why it has to be in here.

What are you talking about? The last 5 pages of this thread had two items from HF. Another was listed for comparison only which should be more than allowed considering this thread is over half chatter.

Maybe you had confused this one with the HF pass/fail thread? http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27192

NAPA has Gearwrench 5 piece X Beam ratcheting wrench sets on sale for $24.99. The metric set has 10, 12, 13, 14, and 15mm. The SAE set has 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, and 5/8.
Most vendors sell the 5 piece set for $60. It's a great price if you just want to try the X beam shape out.

Deal is gone:(

Personally I like all my deals in the same place. Why bother having to visit 2 threads? Im sure if you are looking at the brick mortar deals you'll visit the amazon deals and visversa.

I was the one who snagged the last pair of mini-bolt cutters. When you see something you want you gotta pounce. Im still hoping those 18" klein bolt cutters come back down.

I'd vote to spin off the Harbor Freight stuff. .
Im with mark, since HF has the same sales over and over, whats the point? And if they do have some ridiculous price on a clearance item you wont be able to find it unless you visit the same store. I think most remember the compressor deal they had last year that only about 5 people got.
