is this deal dead? the metric set 80558 is coming up as 46.39 for me, which makes it eligible for a $16 discount using promo code LC123, making the set 30.39.

Do you have an account on their site? This same thing was happening to me until I logged in. So I just tried after clearing my browser cache and cookies, ie: logged out, and sure enough it was the non-discounted price. So you must need to be logged in to get the sale price.

Still shows for me. Advance is clearing them out of stores. You have to pick them up in store. I suspect you're looking at the price to buy one shipped to your house.

i got the lower price to load by using another computer/ISP/browser. try searching for "gear wrench 13-piece" instead of the part number using firefox. that's how i got the lower price to load, i didn't need to log on AAP account. IE8 would load the higher price for me.

Sears.com is having a sale until 5:00 AM Central time (ends 1/3/11). You can save 10% off tools. Plus, if you spend $50, you can use the coupon code "sears5off50" and save an extra $5.

I went to the local Advance store to pick up my 68pc set (retail 82, paid 53) and saw a few boxes of the Gear Wrench ratchet sets. Prices listed 39, and they had a 20% tag next to them. But, no 12-18 dollar deals (guy said it ended 12/31)

Oh, and picked up my Knipex pliers from Lowe's.....and WOW those things are cool! My first pair, and had no idea that they had the automatic locking tab with the push-button slider. Used them tonight and was incredibly impressed. Although not US-made, quite happy with the German construction!

How much were the Knipex in the store? Thinking about heading there tomorrow before this deal runs out. Gonna try my Harbor Freight 20 percent coupon just to see if I can pull it off.

Since reading the bottle opener thread I have been hunting for one worthy of my toolbox.

Here is the best deal I have found:

Channellock BCOB

$3.61 with no tax and no shipping charges!

I had to order one - these were $13 on Amazon after shipping.

My local Home Depot has the Dewalt DW059K-2 Impact Wrench on clearance for $199, down from $299. YMMV

Sorry but I absolutely refuse to open my beers with an opener made in China.

I'll stick with my Craftsman.

Wait....isn't most Craftsman stuff made in China now as well?

Their beer opener isnt ;)

If channellock has to put out some china screwdrivers to help keep their profit margins high then fine... as long as they make sure they are at least decent quaility - from what I have heard they are. The important thing to me is that they at least keep all their pliers made here and with a high quality standard. If you don't want china screwdrivers there are plenty of quality Euro brands to choose from, and still a couple good selections in the USA.

Buyer's remorse is the feeling of regret AFTER a purchase is made.
What is it called when you wait too long to decide on a deal, and then miss out on the deal?

Got some more deals (And stuff) at Advance Auto:

It seems most of my local stores just had one of each of these 1/4" or 3/8" sets in ASE or Metric. They didn't sell at the inflated price they were stocked at, so they are being deep discounted (Virtually in half) and sold. Add in the discount code by buying online and picdking them up and you get 2/3 off the original price......Sweet!

Mines coming up 30.89. Have you purchased off of the website before? I did last week and I'm wondering if that's why I don't see the deal.

I'm signed in and they are available at my local store. Still coming up 30.89. I wonder if I need to delete my browsing history and cookies? This worked last week and I'd love to pick up some more stuff if I could get the right price to come up.

I'd be interested to see if someone in Maryland could try and tell me. My price still coming up over $30. Just wondering if I need to clear my cookies. Maybe since I got a good deal before they are changing it on my account. Would definitely pick up more items from GW if the prices would go back like before New Years.

I'm not in MD, but I had to clear my cookies twice before I got the lower price to show up. It doesn't hurt anything to try though. I cleared the cookies from Advance and then searched Google shopping for one of the sale items. It showed the lowered price and when I clicked that to get to the Advance site the sale price showed up.

Fwiw, going directly to Advance even after clearing cookies didn't work for me.
