I had posted that I didn't receive my SS gift. I was bummed but optimistict it was a delay or something. Well Christmas came and went. Moose contacted my SS and I got a PM on the 12/28 that it was sent back because the USPS ***** and that he was dealyed in resending it out. I was told that it was shipped via UPS on 12/28/10.

Well today is 1/6, more than a week has gone by and I have as of yet to receive my SS gift.

I sent a PM to my SS yesterday and haven't gotten a response.

Moose,

Just curious - did everyone else receive something? I, personally, enjoyed the concept and look forward to doing it again. I'm also willing to chipi in for any SS mishaps.

It seems like there is always 1 slip up or two during the Secret Santa, I would recommend "Not" posting up the user Name and allowing Moose and the admins Handle the Sitsuation. There are Plenty of people here (including me) who are willing to make it Right. There is No need to start a "You want me to drive by his House" thread.

No matter how pure and overwhelmingly positive the spirit of an event, there will always be either mistakes or pure deception on the part of some participants. But with folks here to make it right, it seems like you will be taken care of.

Sorry it happened, though.

Heh.. I didn't get in last year; missed it by post counts. I hope you get your gift, but the way my luck is I'll be in your shoes next year but I WILL be getting in this year!

I will also send send something to make up for the SS debacle.

I think a few of us sending small items would make for some neat gifts.

I didn't evrn hint to anyone driving by someones home. However if this person won't hold up an obligation for something in the spirt of SS I think people should know that way they know not to conduct business with that person.I also stated he should wait a week so the person could make it right. Had that person not been heard from at all since this started I would give them the benifit of the doubt but his own admission of stalling in sending it shows that person has a lack of respect for the OP and the Spirit of SS itself. As soon as I read the OP's disappointment I was already thinking of something to send. If Moose will send out a way to get it to him I'm sure we can change the OP's bad experiance into an extraordinay one.

:headscrat "I" Didnt claim that you hinted anything... I repeat.. Let the Admins do there job, They will make sure that the SS in question isnt taking advantage of the Membership. Ive seen too many of these threads get out of hand but if the Admins think we should lynch the guy publicly in the Forum Today or a Week from Now, Knock yourselves Out.

You are absolutly right, lets not drag someone through the mud when we actually don't know for sure whats going on.. That would be mean and disrespectful as there may be circumstances we are unaware of. My sincere apollogies for even suggesting it.

Moose please let us know what we can do

I said I was wrong lets not lose sight of the thread

I don't think you were wrong at all, I think if the matter isn't solved, people should know who it is and not deal with him for being a douche. Of course, as you said, wait a few to make sure, and even still if it is solved, the guy is reprised.

And my words on the popcorn were to lighten the mood.

Gotta agree. I'd be a little pissed if I ended buying something from that member and found out this was him all along. My opinion only...

Last year, at a a certain point, the one or two folks who had not met their obligations were outed publicly. I cannot recall if we started the threads, or if the stiffed members did.

As has been mentioned: give it time to play out but ultimately, if you volunteer to take part in a charitable even for a community, and flake out, you should not expect to remain anonymous. That would make it more likely for you to fleece someone else.

The Admins are not gonna allow a guy who skipped town on the Secret Santa to be Posting up in the Classifieds etc... This is why it is imperative that you contact the Admins and Moose in this sitsuation so they can monitor his Log-Ins etc. I have some stuff that was shipped before New Years and hasnt showed up yet myself, I checked some Tracking numbers today and it seems its in a Holding Pattern out East. Again.. We have had this sitsuation before, but its only been 6 business days and this might be a International shipment (Canada??) etc.. I dont think we have reached the Panic Point yet..

Dave, Do we have Current Members who have fleeced previous members in Secret Santa/Classifieds? I was under the impression that you guys remedied these People in the Past?

I have not had any recent cases from the Classifieds that were totally unresolved. Sellers who bone someone and never make it right are banned.

There was some SS drama last year, and Moose and I talked about some things early in this year's planning. But then it was his show, so I really don't know who participated.

Neither do I. I guess I should have mentioned that. All I'm saying is that I see nothing wrong with publicly posting his user name at the very least, if it pans out that he ripped another member off. No one said we have to post up his address and email address, and start a witch hunt.

I also don't think the admin wants everyone one of us sending them a PM every time we buy something to make sure we aren't buying from a questionable member.

I was one to not receive a gift last year from my SS, but I did receive a nice gift from a volunteer to make up for it. Participated again this year without hesitation. I'll be in again this Christmas!

I didn't want to say anything on the main board, so I let the mods take care of it. Things happen, a lot out of the control of those affected.

I'd let the mods straighten it out. No need for unnecessary drama.

I have No issue with publicly posting the user name if he rips a person off, I just dont think 6 business days is enough time, and i think the OPs thread is a little premature. Ive seen too many of these threads get out of hand here at GJ in the Past whether its via the Classifieds or the SS giveaways. The Classifieds are "Buyer Beware" GJ admins have nothing to do with goes on in there.

With that said they try to keep peace and protect members by weeding out Problems but if your gonna buy something you better take care of #1 and make sure you use the proper channels (Paypal/Credit Card etc) to protect yourself in case you run into a scammer.

Very Well Said JerryW..

BTW.. If it wasnt a rule this year, It should be a rule next year that all SS Packages must have a tracking number. I think this would aleviate some issues, I know i personally dont ship anything without a tracking number due to liability reasons. Its Generally Free or severly discounted via online postage purchases.

I for one don't advocate doing drive by's. It's just a secret santa.

As far as business days. It's 8 business days and that's after Christmas. While I understand what your saying, I have been patient and by no means is my post premature. I have done most of this behind the scenes and copied Moose on my reply PM to my SS. I understand hard times. I am out of work on disability and not getting my full pay, but I met the obligation I signed up for. I also did it on time.

Things happen and I can understand that, but it doesn't take 8 business days to get from where my SS lives to NJ, even ground. I am calling it the way I see it.

He's a good guy and I'm not trying to out the guy until everything has been exhausted, but if it falls through, people deserve to know. I like the guy, I just don't like being told one thing and then end up feeling like I was mislead.

I was contacted via PM, but a member who was generous to be my SS if things didn't work out. I will see what happens in the next few days and go from there. Thanks to everybody that offered. This is a great comunity.
