Garage guys:in centeral Illinois got 6'' and the state capital got 11'
so we are digging out. I just have a single stage Jacobson two cycle
that was given to me 13 years ago becuse it would not run ,got
it running and have use it ever since. It removed the 6 inches
with ease but once you get over over 10'' it is very slow.
Loved the Gravely conversion pic.:)

Bustedwheel--That's a Bombardier SW-48 which was built for years as a municipal sidewalk plow. Many of them are still out their plugging away. Lots have been bought up by snowmobile clubs and nordic skiiing centers as trail grooming machines. Very sweet and functional machines. They show up on CL and Resortboneyard.com from time to time.

Chicago in the winter *****!! why do i live here? 22 inches today. worst storm in 45 years. but my trusty late 70's ariens went thru in one pass. the eves are open on my new garage adddition because i have'nt sided yet so it snowed about an inch in the garage last night. heat is not on so i will vacuum up the snow. we had 70 mph wind overnight. can't get anywhere and need to clean up the mess so next few days will be spent giving my equipment a work out.

The two stage blower is unique in that it is a 2-stroke. Works REALLY well.

I also have this little guy which they stopped making in 1986 - the best thing EVER for clearing a normal household roof of snow, and for little light snows that you don't want to ice over.

1970s Toro Snowhound, single stage, 3 HP, all metal. It's older than me but it works every year.

This was last year chewing it's way through a 3 ft pile of snow a plow pushed up on my sidewalk.

Nothing fancy but it beats a shovel.
Just picked up the GT6000 late fall for $150, had to get something because My old faithful 1963 Jacobsen Chief finally needs a major repair.
The black can on the rear is 75 pounds of salt with a hand scoup now I do not need to drag out a bag when salt is needed.

My '68 Cub 125 that I completely restored two winters ago with a QA42 thrower on the front. Only got to use it once so far this winter, I put a speed-up pulley on it and it flung 6" of really heavy sloppy stuff 20' in the air. Since I took this pic I put tri-ribs on the front - makes steering much easier.

Not real easy to make out the details via my "security camera" (ignore the date, I haven't set it)... but it's a 9HP Toro 2-stage...

I haul it around on one of those hitch platforms to clear out my house, apartment, etc... it's been a godsent this winter because we have a 13x8 dumpster smack in the middle of the driveway and I have to keep it clear.

...she's not the best out there, sometimes she won't put out, and she can be a pain in the *** to start on a cold morning... but her mother gave me this snow blower, so that's cool :bounce:

Kubota L4400, ag tires, double ring chains, chains also for front, front 7ft QA snowblade, rear 6ft (too small) blade.

backed up by a '97 chevy k3500 w/8ft fisher plow--kinda cumbersome in places, so i prefer the tractor

backed up by a 1971ish ariens 32" 8HP snowblower w/tire chains

Up until last January, I had this:
NewTruck.jpg

I really had a lot of fun with that 3/4 ton, but I couldn't afford the gas to feed it every day. Used to do the entire neighborhood for fun. I think my neighbors are missing it as much as I am today lol

So do you have a museum of snowblowers? Those don't look like they have seen daylight, nevermind snow!

My 1977 Gravely 408 that Dad bought brand new. It's only an 8 horse and single stage blower, but man is it cool.

I had a Toro 726LE like the one on the right. I bought it when we moved into our new house in 2003. It was a good machine and the joystick was great and easy to use. It did have a repair/recall to line up the auger drive pulley. I sold it to my father when we moved to Houston in 2005 and he's used it ever since. Typically, he uses a Massey 165 with a blade, but the Toro is nicer to the terrain.

Yesterdays blowing snow, got packed so hard, and then it went down to zero, the skid load wont push it, so this is how I'm cleaning the drive today... and even with this things weight and being 4 wheel drive, its a chore...

Well, mine is nothing compared to some of what's been shown here but for it's size it did pretty well yesterday (22in for Chicago). It's a 10 yr old Craftsman with a Tecumseh SnowKing 11hp engine (nothing like what they sell now - this is all steel and about 300+lbs). I've made some changes to it like pulleys and carb tuning along with a few other tricks.

I cut through 2-3ft deep drifts w/o shoveling to break it down and had to shovel down the 4ft and higher drifts...pictures were taken by my wife. She missed the one of it under the drifts with just the chute poking out! Used 1-1/2 tanks to do my driveway, sidewalks (corner lot), neighbor's driveway, and street in front because plows never showed...so far nothing has stopped it.

Here it is cutting through some very deep snow:
