Honda HS724 2 stage snowblower...

cost a small fortune, but it starts right up after 1 pull each time like a honda should and the hydrostatic trans makes it easy for the wife to use when im not home.

My 1977 Gravely 408 that Dad bought brand new. It's only an 8 horse and single stage blower, but man is it cool.

Slim

That's a really great little tractor. Nicely kept. What attachments do you have besides the snowblower?

I have three of those Gravely 408 tractors - they mow great, and here's my 1974 with a newly acquired plow - it impressed me with how well it plows too!

Take a look at the Yahoo Group dedicated to this unique Gravely tractor.

When I have a light dry snow up to about 5", I've used this York Rake (with the grader bar down) behind the ATV. I have about 800 feet of driveway at the farm.

I usually use the 1969 Gravely Commercial 10A walkbehind with a 38" snowblower (snow cannon) to clear the heavy stuff.

Sometimes, I'll even get out the 1946 Oliver Cletrac and push it.

Hi All, here's my latest snow removal acquisition, (before I mounted wheel weights and chains) 1971 John Deere 140 H3 with "Cozy Cab." Until now I relied exclusively on my cab-less 1987 John Deere 332 (3cyl. diesel) I don't have to eat snow on really windy days any longer!

I also have a bobcat 300 series: With custom mount for cycle country atv plow:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/8094653@N06/4336908857/" title="IMG_1793 by latency5, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4050/4336908857_9cc10b1b4d.jpg" width="375" height="500" alt="IMG_1793" /></a>

That would pass as a twin to my 310. I modified an old wheelhorse blade to fit it.

this is what my wife gave me for christmas this year. I also have a honda 4 wheeler with a blade on it. the 4 wheeler does a great job of moving snow but when it starts piling up more than 2 to 3 feet along side my drive I need a way to pick it up and move it. this has worked great this year. it is a 97 new

Glad to see some other Gravely owners on here. Upstate NY winters can be a real pain in the Syracuse area, but my "snow-tank" does just fine. Here's my Gravely 816 in her winter running gear:
IMG_0650.jpg

I picked up the cab and 4' blower this winter on Craislist, $550 for both! The cab is actually made for a 8000 series, but the only difference is that it's a little longer and a couple mounts don't line up. Not a big problem to overcome. The blower is great - I was running a 2 stage 38" before, and my wheels are 42" wide, so I would lose traction. The 48" is great!

The tractor itself is a 1975 (I think) with hydraulics that originally had a 16hp in it, but somewhere in its lifetime it was replaced with a Kohler M18 Magnum (18hp dual cylinder) which is a nice upgrade. I also have a 50" mower deck for it, and my Father in Law has several riders, walk behinds, and just about every attachment known to Gravely. This tractor was actually a housewarming present from him. It was the first rider he'd ever worked on, and since then he's bought a few more riders since he was so impressed with this one! I'm hoping he'll give me a walk behind for clearing the sidewalks and some brushhog work!

Here's the new blower without the cab on it:
IMG_0639.jpg

And here's the driveway I have to keep clear:
roof3.jpg

(The trailer is a 8x14, for size reference)
Since I got the cab, the heat from the motor keeps me nice and warm when clearing snow. I don't mind doing it at all anymore, and usually end up clearing every square inch of snow I can!

school a noob here. I just bought my first riding mower, never needed one before. Was looking at attachments for it, one of them is a snow blower.... for $1200...yikes

my question is, how are they powered? do they run off the belt that would run the mowing deck?

The ariens in the post before yours is pto driven as is the mower. I think most smaller tractors are belt driven though.

Almost everything on smaller tractors is belt driven.

My old (1975) John Deere 210 was belt driven, and it was more hassle than it was worth to swap out belts. It's still a good tractor for mowing and pulling a trailer around the yard (and since it has a Kohler K241 motor, it shares a lot of motor parts with Gravely walk behinds) but I've been spoiled by my Gravely and rarely use it anymore. EVERYTHING on the Gravely is gear or PTO driven. Even the mower deck uses a PTO shaft to a gear box, and then finally has a belt to drive the blades. That was the big selling point of them - 3 PTO points, gear driven everything, and plenty of attachments.

Bought this late last year when Lowe's was having a sale. Ended up getting it at 30% off with all the discounts. Now just waiting for snow this season.

Here's my Toro 521 snow thrower and my Craftsman tractor with home made cab and snow plow. I've had the Toro for 5 years and it runs great. The tractor I had sitting around so I decided to build a plow and a cab thinking that it would be another winter from Hell here in centeral MN. Oh well I'm sure they'll get plenty of use soon enugh....

I wouldn't want to be without snow. I have way too much fun in it.

My snow remover and a typical blizzard result on our driveway.

It *****.

It's not that I love snow but I would like some......I worked hard all fall long building that plow and cab. I'd atleast like to try it out.......In a "normal" winter in MinneSNOWTA I'd be sick of using these by now...........last week it was 50 degrees here I wore a T-shirt to work in the morning....what a freaky winter.

my john deere 1900 420 it has been used for 5 min this year. the blade has been welded back together and painted with a new 1/2" wear blade. cant wait to give it a real try this year. Beats the heck out of a shovel and I dont slip and fall while walking behind my MTD snow blower any more but i still have in for emergency problems. I also have a 47" 2 stage snow blower for the tractor but it uses lots of gas so i mainly use the plow and about 1/4 throttle so i canmove lots of snow for cheap.

Well, I must say this thread has rather LONG legs at this point and I never saw the previous picture the first couple of times around or read ALL the comments or pages. It just struck me cute and funny the first time I saw it and I know I like it when my posts are commented on so I threw in my two cents worth.

Didn't mean to offend with the redundancy of the post.
