i was at the pawn today where i picked up a steelman 6 position chassis ear and 6 pair of used usa made vise grips that are the bodyman/sheetmetal style. the big "u" clamps w. swivel pads. paid 95 for it all so i was happy. not something i would consider post worthy on here like a you **** deal or anything. but the next part was a 1st for me and thought i'd share.
also at the pawn was not 1 but two irate mothers demanding their rings back because their junky sons pawned them the night before. The clerk politely told them that they were being sold for x amount of money and that they would return them for the actual paid cost provided charges are pressed to show it was a stolen good and not a sellers remorse deal. the mothers didn't want to press charges but wanted the rings back.
My take is they are f'd. if i were the pawn shop i wouldn't give it up unless they came in proving it was stolen. How do u prove it is stolen--go to the police. As it is, the kid signed a form saying it was "his" to sale, so he would be on the hook for selling stolen property. the one lady couldn't comprehend what she needed to do and was getting irate and flipping out on the hourly employee.
I generally keep to myself in public--yet if i see something wrong, or someone in need of help, i generally try to do something. I'm not one of those turn the other way people and confrontation does not put me off. This i felt was one of those instances as the employee was getting verbally abused from the mothers all the while they didn't do **** to the person who really caused the problem--their dead beat sons. the worthless pill heads were with each mother and had their hoodies up over their heads and eyes to the floor the entire time.
after 5 minutes of hearing these ladies act like trash and get louder and louder I suggested they go to the police station that was down the road and get this resolved in a civil fashion. Needless to say, they didn't like a stranger telling them what to do. But they did get the hell out of the store.
seriously though-- no one goes to a pawn shop to sale goods because they pay great prices. the pawn is there to make money off your unfortunate situation. Do people not realize this?
