I have a DeVilBiss single phase 40 gallon compressor. This item was built in 1969 and looks and runs great. No oil leaks, clean, etc. It is mounted on dolley with casters. I had this unit hard wired but you can put a cord on it. You can hear run. Needs pressure regulator, and hose ****** attachment. Has a newer GE motor on it rated at 1/2 hp. It will accept a stronger motor, I just happened to have this one already. Price is cheap for something that will last forever. This unit is made of what I think is cast iron, It is very heavy. A 220 volt conversion is as simple as putting on a new motor.

This is the info provided from the seller, have not looked at it yet. I know nothing about compressors so I need some good solid advice. Prolly not looking to run a blaster so that's not an issue. Is it a roll of the dice as far as a rusted tank goes, if you can't see it? Thanks in advance.

i have a huge old devilbiss compressor that needs rings and the only info i was able to get it used 5hp minimum motor and turned at a prettly low rpm like 500 or so, and the most important thing, parts have been discontinued for many years. im sure i could match up rings but you cant even get a head gasket. i jsut picked up an ir t30 instead of trying to fix that one.

On units that old, is there any concern that years of moisture in the tank have weakened their integrity?

If all checks out is it worth $150 ? I realize the motor will prolly need swapped so not sure how much I'd be into there.

Plan on at least $100.00 per horsepower for a motor, In my area used small horsepower motors are almost imposable to find. I don't think I'd pay more than $50.00 for that rig.

having to buy a new motor can take a "good deal" and make it cost more than a new compressor in the end.
