Re: hot rod garage in the works.38x56

the unit is just for the in floor heat closed loop system. don't even have running water or a sink in the garage.takes up to much space. thoose little boilers are just awsome.

Garage is looking great and love your attention to detail.
I'm curious as to where you picked up all your radiant supplies, boiler mostly? i'm just pricing it all out for my soon to be built 700sq ft garage.

cheers,
Parrish

the boiler is a hydro shark made in Germany bought it at local bldg. supplier menards. if I did it again I would use a gas boiler it does really cost some jing to run in a cold climate. hope this helps.

Re: hot rod garage in the works.38x56

just a little update got to use the paint booth yesterday painted the new 1898 shear. and as long as I covered the booth with over spray I decided to prime the air compressor enclosure. oh yea the whole idea was to paint a friends tractor.:dunno: sometimes A.D.D. has its advantages you can get three things done at one time.:lol_hitti. ok maybe there not done but still moving forward.

Re: hot rod garage in the works.38x56

hi.. just glancing inward on your build... nICE... I was wondering about you dust system for paint fumes and the need to run a wire around the PVC to take care of static electricity (spark/exploison)... I know they do this with woodworking dust collection systems... also did you do anything in the duct work to prevent things from getting sucked through?

I PLACED SOME FOIL TAPE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE PVC AND RAN ABOUT 5 TECK SCREWS THOUGH THE PIPE AND RAN GROUND STRAPS TO THE STEEL DUCT AND THEN TO GROUND. There are 2 seperate systems one is for dust collection and one is for painting 2 seperate fans. Idid not do anything for traps to keep things from accidently sucked up. but there is a clean out on the bottom of the horz. run. hope this helps.

I think I saw you a couple years back at the 50's E.rodz with car covered in Sharpie! Can't remember when it was...anyways, great looking shop! Your doing some really detailed work there, I must say I'm amazed and I bet your neighbors are too! I love what you did with the cedar beams and the distressed copper finish it looks gorgeous. I just flipped through this post and I didn't get too thorough with reading EVERY post but I'm curious about the fire department thing I just skimmed over...did someone call because of the drywall dust thinking there was a fire or did you actually have a fire? Look forward to seeing you at the 50's this year if I get something finished I'm working on in time.

Re: hot rod garage in the works.38x56

trying to get the shear put back together but its just not happening as fast as i would like it to. got the wrong springs twice and the shear was in alot worse shape than i thought at first the table had been repaired with 1/2 thick of bronze silaca welding rod. and just about every bolt was stripped out or broke off. ended up filling the back up with concrete epoxy to make a level spot for the new reinforced back bone. fabricated a new cart for it and now if the right springs show up i think i can finish it soon.

Re: hot rod garage in the works.38x56

Man did I get by but kicked last night.had some problems with the masking tape pulled some of the base coat off. so i decided to sand the compressor housing again and seal it up with some clear. well that was a save and it worked.:D
went to bed thinking I was going to do some airbrushing on it today.NOT! walked out to the garage to find the caulking that holds the plexi glass in let loose and a whole panel ripped out of the cover!!!:scared:
Going to try to fix this thing and make forward progress today. wish me luck.!

I don't know if anyone has commented on this yet, but beautiful Parks/Craftsman 18" band saw! Nice resto on it as well - I like the engine turning on the blade guard. I may have to do that to mine when I get it restored:bounce:

Congratulations on making it into the Popular Mechanics article, E.rodz!

I think you and I were the only garages included that actually involved a car parked in a building. :) But it was great to see another GJer in there.
