For me there would be two issues. Could I use it and do I have a place to put it. The second one is often the bigger issue.
Hard to tell, but that looks to be a high quality USA made unit...something which you never see these days. I would buy it myself in a heartbeat and get rid of my China junk model. Damn, it's blue, too.
If you don't want it, let me know where it is....
Decent engine stands sell new for between $35 and $50, and show up for less almost all the time in local pennysavers and garage sales. I wouldn't buy one without a project ready to roll, and I don't plan on keeping mine once its done. Talk to your local mechanic as well. Mine told me he sends half a dozen a year to scrap because people bring him an engine on a stand and don't want the stand back once the motor is in the car.
The only feature I have seen in a motor stand that impressed me is a gearhead to rotate the engine.
Yeah, it's a walker. How long has it been since they made engine stands? I may just pick it up and store the cheapie at my dads place.
Or you can just give that block a big hug and pull it up.Me, too, until I heard they can get sloppy. The last thing you need is for the gearing to break thanks to a big block. Nowadays I prefer the manual method of turning using a longer bar...just as easy.

I'm sold, going to pick it up tomorrow. I can always use more than one stand, I have a couple of engines laying around. One is a 320 buick Straight Eight and as you can imagine, it ways a little bit
Plus I imagine I can use them as transmission stands with a couple homemade adapter plates
I also have a late 40's early 50's walker 3 ton service jack that it will match nicely.
