Man, tough crowd, K-Bot.

But I know it's all yer fault. You could screw up a ball bearing with a rubber mallet!

Hard to tell for certain in your picture, but it looks to me like the socket was just barely on the nut or bolt. You can see the contact area and further in the socket there is no contact ? If indeed that was the case, I would expect almost any socket to do the same thing.

Just my opinion,

Didn't you realize?
I'm a plant from China.

My goal is to destroy Snap On's reputation so that harbor freight will rule the tool world.

I need to make sure that all American made tools are out of circulation by the time the Chinese invade so that we don't have to foul our hands with this american scum as we build our glorious empire.

I would like to see a pic of the square drive end. I bet money that it will show some evidence of being used on an impact.

Lol, I've got to say, this is downright hilarious.
I have made posts praising Snap On, I own an ever increasing number of Snap On tools, and 95% of the tools I own that aren't Snap On, are other American made brands. You can count the number of Chinese hand tools that I own on your fingers.

I have made posts praising Snap On's, ratchets, the screwdrivers, the service, and the warranty.
Snap On, despite the price, is my favorite tool brand.
While I can't afford much off the truck, I buy every Snap On tool that I can when I'm looking at used tools.

And now, I make one post, in which I didn't even mention the brand until questioned, I am accused of lying about the age of the socket, and accused of using it on an impact. And of course, "tool abuse". While I admit I frequently "abuse" my tools, I never thought of using a 6 point socket on a 6 point bolt, without any sort of cheater pipe, or even just excessive force, as tool abuse.

Besides that, I have damaged many sockets before, and If this socket had just cracked like I would have expected, I wouldn't have said anything.

All that surprised me, is that I have never seen a socket deform so much, and so easily before.

I still expect that this was nothing more than a defect.

I have finally come to a realization however.
On this forum, you simply don't even mention the words Snap On, and any sort of defect or breakage or dissatisfaction, in the same topic.
Otherwise your words will be twisted into whatever necessary to start a ******* match.

Yeah... You should check out the HF Pass/Fail Thread.. Every Fail post is followed up by 5 people who have had the exact opposite experience. Its not just Snap on... FYI. Tools break big deal, As Bart simpson so elegantly said you might not have intended to abuse your Snap on Socket but by essentially using the wrong size account a rounded bolt, You did. Stuff happens sometime you just have to get the job done... I wouldnt worry about it.. Warranty your socket and go on with your life.
