Just went back to slickdeals and read the follow-up posts .... Landsend apparently altered the deal late Tuesday (?) stating it was an error. Those that called did get the free shipping though. I was lucky and got my three orders in early & got the free shipping.

In Store Only

Milwaukee M12 2490-22 Hackzall, Screwdriver, 2 batteries, charger, and carry bag. On clearance for $47.88 from Sears.

I bought mine at Sears Hardware in Trexlertown, PA they had two and I bought one. It's probably hit or miss at Sears and in store only. For the price it's worth it for the batteries.

Combo kit on Home Depots site

I tried searching on sears.com for m12 hackzall, but only got marketplace sellers. Maybe worth a stop in a local Sears?

I checked 3 stores within an hour of me and all said 129.99, so I called Eden Prairie and they said the same thing and that others had been calling for the $48 deal but did not know wear that price came form.

The store I bought mine from had a hand written label on it. So I don't know how many other stores have them on clearance for that price.

As far as the hackzall. I was given one for Christmas and used the heck out of it so far. I've used it to remodel my bathroom. Worked great for cutting studs to recess a medicine cabinet, I also removed the plywood sub floor with it, and cut all the old copper pipes to replace them with cpvc. It's a real life saver in tight spots.

Also instead of buying the more expensive hackzall blades you can cut down or use full length sawzall blades.

Same here. $130.00. He asked me if I called earlier and I said 'no'. So it sounds like someone else called on it and didn't like the 'clearance' price so didn't bother to come in. The salesman said they don't order those hackzall kits 'but they send them to us anyway, so we've been authorized to offer that clearance price'. I passed. Wished it was $50.00 instead of $130.00

I don't understand the poor image of the Hackzall. I have had one for over a year and love it. It works great for those jobs I don't need or want to drag out the full size, plug in Sawzall.

On another note my Sears has the Milwaukee 1/4" M12 Driver on clearance for $70. This is the full kit with case, charger and 2 batteries. They also have the last of the 13 piece USA made full polish Craftsman Professional combination wrenches on clearance for $69, and the Knipex copy Craftsman Pro pliers on clearance (various discounts). I bought the 2 piece 8" Needle Nose and 8" Diagonal Cut Pliers for $22. You may want to check your local sears for clearance deals.
Good luck, Dave

Thanks for the Link Skin, I was gonna order some of the offset sets but after reading the reviews it appears you cant go by the picture (USA) Plenty of reviews with buyers feeling duped by receiving China Wrenches even after the pictures showing USA. Still looks like there are some super deals there though...

Yes thanks! I ordered some that were in stock in store for pick up tomorrow. If they aren't USA I'll just return them.

in store your mileage may vary, i've yet to read a bad report from an online purchase though. The offsets for example, there are actually two sets now, one is chinese which i believe is this one LINK. Anything marked "Professional" in the title and ordered and shipped from a mail order warehouse should be USA. I'd chance a whole bunch of it and report if i needed them, some of the prices are really good. All the wrenches i've gotten most recently were manufactured in October and December of 2010 respectively and both [the Pro deep offset Std+mm set and Stubby Std+mm set] were reported to have begun switching to chinese sets in stores quite some time ago. So for what its worth they are still making USA product.

But there i still some fear, not entirely unjustified either. Safest move would be to just do an instore pickup and hope to get lucky on some NOS. Simplifies returns as well since you can just take it to the counter, get it scanned and go on your merry way.

The offset set you lined to is likely just the two 5-pc sets combined. I ordered the 14pc Gearwrench flex-wrench combo a year or two ago, and received the two seperate 7pc sets.

It doesn't matter if it's marked professional or not, the same part number refers to the older Craftsman professional set and newer made-in China "full-polish" set.

As for the sets, Sears is holding a 30%-off sale on "mechanics tool sets, drills, and tool storage over $75" and "20% off all other tools". I'm not seeing the 20% sale, but a lot of the "mechanics" sets are 30%-off automatically.

All the same i'd still argue the mail order warehouses are still receiving USA product as evident by the complete lack of chinese stuff people have gotten. I'm sure you'd agree, and its also self evident by the packaged dates as recent as 6 months ago, that the online warehouses cycle product at a faster rate than a store so if it were showing up anywhere first it should of been there, but thus far its only been in the B&M operations. :dunno:

Like i said i'd happily chance some more if i needed them.
