Garage door insulation

I have a metal garage door. During the summer time the garage gets very wqrm. I want to insulate against that heat. Home Depot has a solid foam kit and there are solid foam panels to cut your own kit. I have seen a video using fiberglass sheets. Does anyone have any experience with using either type in the garage? Any advice?

I used styrofoam panels that are used under stuco house finish. they were cheep, just cut a little over sized and they snap in to door pocket. I then added some foiled covered bubble rolled insolation to finish off. The foil reflects light nicely to add lighting. Held the foil/bubble insolation on with short drywall screws ( didnt take many).

Did the fiberglass and returned it. Terrible stuff. It was a kit from Lowes.

Owens Corning kit. Very easy to install, noticeable difference in temperature, summer and winter. Cleaned up the inside of the doors as well.

Thanks Vernmotor for posting the link. I did research other methods, but financially I chose the blue Iso Board insulation from Lowes.

The full build is the DIY Garage Door Insulation. It works well for me in the Florida summer.

I did the same thing a couple of months ago. It really helped alot.

I used the foil covered bubble wrap against the door and then topped it with a fiberglass panel with a plastic cover made for suspended ceilings. Both the bubble wrap and the panel were cut slightly larger than the flange of the framed opening. The panel had just enough flex to get behind the lip of each framed area. Nothing else needed to keep them in place. A very noticeable improvement in the hot and cold, and much quieter in the garage.
