Welcome back. Glad to see some new pics. Wow!!! is all I can say. I do know that if I lived there, I be kicked back in a chair outside just stairing at the mountains. Beutiful shot. Here in Ohio where I live, you look out, see a corn field backdropped by a woods, with a bunch of junkass farm machinery parked in front of the woods. can't wait for the corn to grow to block out that view. One architectural detail I like is the way the soffit drops down and then trimmed with the crown moulding. And is the door larger than a standard door? From the pic it looks woder than a standard 36" door unless the photo is just decieving.

Does the soffit hide wiring, or was that just a detail to add to the looks? Looks great no matter what though. When I was growing up I watched a movie where Charlton Heston was a soul survivor of something that happened and I always thought that if something like that ever did happen, of all the cool places that there would be to live. Yours would definately be added to that list.:thumbup: What's the plans for benches, boxes, etc, for the garage portion? Surely it will equal the craftmanship of everything else.

One more question, in the theater room you have this:

sheetrockgarage018.jpg

Is the triangular area in the corner for a projector or something along that line. Surely you are going to have a plasma or something larger than that. Just looks kind of odd dropped down by itself in the corner.

That corner item looks like it's on the garage level of the building, so I doubt it's for either.

Correct.

That's on top, that's the area where the workbench will go. The angled area is for a flat screen tv.

This is what the theater looks like inside:

As for the soffit, it isn't hiding any wiring or anything, just for looks. We have several outlets put up there, and will put in some rope accent lighting.

As for the larger door at the end of the hallway, that leads to the theater room, it was custom made, can't remember offhand how big it is, but it's almost 4 feet I think.

Any updates from the last few weeks?

Not much really, it's been going pretty slow now. We are down to mostly paint. My painter was on vacation for a couple weeks. We did get the floor coating picked out.

Today I had a crew come into the garage and grind down the one foot foundation wall (interior) and use a blend of patchcrete and concrete glue to level out and "pretty up" the interior facing of that wall. Hopefully, now we can get the epoxy laid before Saturday and then get the sink set in and the upstairs is done!

Update.

Working on painting for the last couple of weeks. First coat of epoxy is down. Have to wait 24 hours between coats. I'm going to have him lay down 2 coats of epoxy, put the color chips in and then do another coat of clear coat on top.

I'll post up some pics of the first coat tonight.

HOLY **** BATMAN!! That is super impressive!! The "bunker" under your garage has more square footage than my entire house!!

...and I should add that the design and layout are just incredible!! If I dug about a foot into the ground, I would be in 8 inches of muck and marsh. I guess that's what I get for living on a filled in swamp!!

This is just an idea, but you can use fiber optic side-emitting cords instead of rope lighting. Instead of having individual bulbs that you can see, you get a solid strand of light. And, there is no heat except for wherever you decide to put the emitter. Here is a link to look into it if you are interested.

You have an awesome build. I have always wanted to do something like that. I'm only 21, so I still can someday. Thanks for the great pics!

So, now just waiting on the plumber to come put in the sink, and waiting for the diamond plate baseboard that will sit on top of the interior foundation, and I'm good to go...

Hey Dude,

I think your project is absolutely amazing! If you want the floor to be as amazing as the structure... let's get creative together! If you'll allow us to use pics of your project... we'll give you a deal you can't refuse! If you want to give me a call to talk about it you can call me at (864) 342-9292 (Eric).

Again, really nice work...

Eric

I'll call you this week to discuss. We are about 3 weeks or so from doing the floor.

Thanks
Doug

That sounds great! We might need some lead time depending on how creative you want to get. I'll look forward to your call!

Eric

DOH! No Worries... I'm sure someone else is going to build a Bunker Garage in the middle of a beautiful landscape any day now... lol...

I just have to say..this is great. I wish I could have heard you propose this idea to your wife....LOL. She is either very cool or you are a great talker.

Goes like....

"Yeah honey, in addition to our 3 car garage that is bueatiful - I would like to rip up our driveway, destroy our lawn, build a underground hangout with a garage above it to store my toys, and then a secret tunnel to the house....what da ya think?"

I think I am going to tell my wife that and say "Why can't I? He has one!"

LOL....that would be hilarious....I love everything on it

(I couldn't read the full thread, so hopefully I'm not duplicating anyone's thoughts/posts")

I'm more of a "ask for forgiveness" than "ask for permission" kind of guy if you get my drift.

Man that looks killer.
I love the gloss gray with white speckles.
good choice.
I never wanted speckles, because all I saw were the black and dark colored speckles. I was like.....What if I dropped something.....
The white is where it is at.
