So what was the cost difference between going up opposed to going down ????Killer set-up by the way

No idea, didn't get any bids on going up, since the city shut that down. I have to think it would have been a ton cheaper..

I'll post some pics of the basement up again here in a few days. Paint is nearing completion...

What kind of lighting fixtures are those? Specs, website, etc...

Dunno. The electrician said they were T5 High bay lights...

If memory serves they were about $170 per fixture (including bulbs and install)

Been a little slow on the updates guys, sorry..

I ordered some 4 inch Diamond plate baseboard (which is mostly installed) and some 4 inch DP crown molding (should be here this week) after it's all up, I'll post up some more pics.

Downstairs is coming along pretty good as well. Paint is finished, and we are working on flooring now.

damn, been a member for a little while now, and while I mostly lurk as my garage is nothing to look at - I've somehow completely missed this one! I started on the first few pages, and then ran across the dreaded "delete..." posts. Made me want to cry! I can't believe that there are creeps out there that would try and get that info out of you for malicious intent! You bastards ruined a good thing here and NO ONE should feel uncomfortable for showing a few pictures of a garage build. Here's from me to you: :monkey_po

Thanks for the pictures you did share Utah, I can't believe the attention to detail. I too love the tunnel - my first thought was OH MY GOD I LOVE IT...can I have one? Definitely a one of a kind project!

This just in:
There hasn't been any new posts as the Bunker garage was hit by a wayward missle from the nearby testing range last week and imploded on impact.
Film at 11.

Yeah.. sorry guys. Summer is here and I'm easily distracted. As Mr. Welsh pointed out, I had my eye on a new toy. I've been having fun with it for the last month or so.

Garage portion is getting there. I need to finish the diamond plate crown molding, and the cabinets are getting installed in a couple weeks. Once all that is done, I'll post up some more pics.

Here's the toy..

Wow! Perfect addition to a fantastic garage. Great work UTAH! It looks like the interior of the garage itself is coming together real nice. Good to see this thread still living.

Fumari by a Fumari flag, Is there a Lamberdini in the future? Sorry for the atrocious misspells, a former cowarker claimed he had owned several of each over the years.

Either you or your architect (or both) is a design genius. I admired this from the get-go. Brilliant at many levels!

I am curious as to how the idea was actually born.

I think he stated it in the first post. Something with ordinances I believe that couldn't allow him to go up, air right probably so he went down. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I dunno man. The new Gallardo LP560 looks pretty sweet! :bounce:

My wife and I had the privilege of spending 3 weeks in Italy last summer, which included a day for Ferrari, and another day for Lamborghini and Ducati. After visiting their facilities including a tour of both the Murcielago and Gallardo production lines at Automobili Lamborghini, I was convinced that I would buy a Lambo over a Ferrari and that I would actually prefer the Gallardo over the Murcielago. Then again, the likelihood of me ever actually facing that decision is pretty low...

You did well with the 360 though; that is one gorgeous ride!

That's pretty much it. I really wanted to do a nice 2 level outbuilding. Garage on the main floor and a theater/gym/game room on the second level. City wouldn't allow it, so I went down. In the end it was alot more expensive, BUT I did get access to it underground so it truly does become part of the house. And it's nice and cool down there

By complying with their ordinances, you created the coolest garage ever.

Utah997 I saw bmwpower was asking the same thing I was wondering about the tunnel, but your responses are gone now.

How did they pour it or build it to seal it up from water coming through the earth. I want to do a tunnel from one building to another in southern Utah, and can't quite grasp how to make this water proof. If walls are poured as with a basement, and then a roof is placed on the walls and covered with earth, how is that joint made impervious?

I work for an environmental and geotechnical consulting company and shuddered when I saw how close they excavated next to your house in a sandy soil. My nerves would have been on the edge.
