Craftsman Pro online

Anybody know if the Craftsman pro wrenches online are still the USA made ones and not some lousy China full polish ones? Can't find any standard size ones in store, but have been eying them up online. Sorry if this has been asked before, couldn't find anything in a search.

Also, how would you compare SK wrenches to the Cman Pros? With the code on the Advance Auto site, they're pretty close on price.

I believe that the Craftsman Professional line is being discontinued.. The "Full Polish" wrenches are what's replacing. I think whatever is on the website will eventually be replaced with Full Polish when its sold out..

Probably a good idea to purchase whatever's on the website before it's gone.

The problem is that the pros and the new Chinese full polish wrenches are the same part number, so it's not guaranteed which you'll get. The pic on the website still shows the USA wrenches, but that is an outdated pic.

I think you can return online purchases to your local store. You should double check, though. If you order them and get Chinese wrenches then return them. I'd leave them in the package so returning would be easier.

FWIW; you can return alot of items in store you purchased online, however; they will give you a hard time a possibly refuse if the item is listed or sold as on-line only item. For example; when I bought my professional wrench sets six months ago or so; both metric and standards were bundle together in a set for online purchase at a discount as opposed to buying the metric and standard seperatly. They came in a plastic bag in a box istead of the plastic cases you see in store.

Not true, I ordered the professional and got the "full polish" china ****. It is the same SKU. I was refunded and got a 25$ gift card. There are some usa ones still left with a different SKU. Just make sure to call customer service before you buy, they will tell you exactly where they were made and by who!

Yes they were.

Also, SK offers long-pattern wrenches. The metric set is 86040. I don't remember the SAE set number.

To the OP-

I bought a metric SK wrench set form Advance. One of the wrenches was defective, because the name was mis-stamped, but SK would have exchanged it for me if I wanted. There were some other small flaws on a few of the wrenches. But I went to sears and looked at the Craftsman Pros and they had some similar flaws.

Thanks. I have seen that topic, was just wondering what people preferred between the two. The long pattern SKs from advance are pretty pricey, not sure if they're worth it

Not sure if they compare exactly, but the Craftsman Pro deep-offset double-box wrenches I have compare, in finish and appearance, to the new SK combo wrenches I've gotten from Advance Auto. The beams aren't quite as thick on the Craftsmans, but that may be because they're a different style wrench than the basic combo SK stuff I got.

Either way, both are nice sets.

I ordered an SAE set and a Metric set of offset wrenches online a few weeks ago for store pickup. One was USA, one was China.

I wouldn't be surprised if the warehouse guys at the stores have been directed to give the China ones to customers first, knowing that most customers don't know the difference or don't care, just so the financial impact of doing so makes the bottom line look better, sooner. Then if anyone *******, they have a set of USA ones to give along with an "I'm sorry, the box I grabbed on top of the pile just happened to be China."

FWIW this set, 12 pc deep offset, is still US made as I ordered just a few weeks ago and got them. They are still showing US made in the product support part of Sears as well, so I have to assume they are still being produced in an Apex factory.
