This is really what I needed to know. I was really hoping (nor would I have dreamed) that this post wouldnt have turned into something so politcally driven. If some of you feel that China is the enemy, then so be it. Fox News has Forums you can go post in. I am simply looking for input on this floor.
Sorry... they sent me to college and educated me...
Almost all clothing sold in the USA is imported from countries like China, Tiawan. The same is true for most electronics (flat screen TVs, LCDs, computers, iPods, etc etc )...again pretty well all manufactured in China, Tiawan, Japan, Korea, etc. Pretty well ever large USA software/tech company has extensive operations in India. The IRS sends USA tax returns to India for processing. Many company call centers/support centers are located in third world countries. Many of the new/cheaper after market car parts (ie. rods, pistons, cranks, etc.) are made in China. I shop at walmart and I buy goods that were made in China, Korea, Tiawan, etc. I think it is hypocritical to say buy USA made flooring when almost every one of us buys many other goods and services that are not USA made.
You WON'T find a bunch of cheap foreign **** at my house. And, if you ever see me at Wal-Mart you better get out of there quick because I'm there to ROB IT!
Don't you guys understand that this is why you are paying so much at the gas pump? It makes no difference if you are buying clothing, cars, or diapers... When you buy stuff from foreign companies it increases the trade deficit. As the trade deficit grows, the dollar becomes weaker. Now, here is the kicker... Oil has been traded in US dollars for... well... forever... until about 3 weeks ago. So, the French paid for crude oil with US Dollars. The Japaneese... the Chineese... the Vietnameese.... Europeans... Canadians... Mexicans... EVERYONE paid for crude oil with US dollars. 3 weeks ago Iran (the 2nd largest exporter next to Saudi Arabia) stopped accepting US dollars. Now, other countries are folloring suit. Japan was the first customer to purchase crude oil with the Yen. What do you think is going to happen when those countries no longer need reserves of US dollars to buy oil?
As the trade deficit climbs and the value of your dollar weakens, the price of oil appears to go up because your dollar is only worth half as much as it used to be. This is the simple law of: What comes around goes around... or... You reap what you sow. Sometimes it takes a long time to come back around. But, we are getting killed at the gas pumps because Americans have been too self-centered to condsider the real cost of the cheap goods they by at Wal-Mart... their... 'needs'. Most importantly, I just don't know how anyone can have any self respect when they see that the cheap foreign goods they buy are costing their friends and neighbors their jobs. I guess money just isn't so important to me that I have to have 'cheap' even if it costs my fellow Americans their livelihoods. There are some good points made that I quoted... MANY things are made in other countries. BUT... when you do have the opportunity to purchase something made in America... isn't that all the MORE reason to buy the American made product. Maybe you can offset that iPod, flatscree, clothes, or computer that you didn't have a choice on...
So, anyone who would rather give their money to the Commies... Go ahead.... you are going to reap what you sow!
*** You may be reading this and have never considered this. I hope that is the case. Anyone can make the choice to do what is best for their own community. I haven't been to a Wal-Mart in who knows how long... I don't need it. I don't need to support a company that is unscrupulous and treats their emplyees the way they do. Most importantly, you ALL know that the more foreign goods you buy the less American manufacturing jobs their are here. Just because you have not lost YOUR job YET doesn't mean that it won't affect you one day. Every high paying job that goes overseas is replaced by a lower paying job. As the higher paying jobs are reduced there is more competition for the higher paying jobs. As people in those jobs are bumped... they compete for jobs in the next lower paying tier of jobs... and the cycle continues until someone pushes you out of your job into a lower paying job. This is our reality and you CAN do something about it. You can start by purchasing products from American companies that are MADE in America. The more expensive the better...
* Man, you've really got to be careful getting me going about this. I'm educated and passionate about it.... and... I'm a Patriot! Our forefathers would turn in their graves if they knew were were selling out our own countrymen so we could save a few bucks!
