I m interested!

The entire move etc. should be photo documented and put in a thread here*. :bounce:

2500lbs?!

*Not this exact thread..durr

Its a huge mofo, the largest piston compressor Quincy makes!
overall.jpg

thats a 55 gal barrel of compressor oil in the background
overall2.jpg

Thats a 55 gallon trash can in the back ground, about three feet away from the rear of the compressor.
Just the specs on the pump, thats right, all by itself over 900lbs! The Baldor 25HP comes in at over 325 and than and mount are at least another 1000 lbs
specs.jpg

For sure I'll start a thread, I might do a time lapse too. Working out the details now on getting it off that 4" pad. We only have 3" of clearance to get it out once its off the pad to drag it straight out an over head door, so our initial gantry crane idea is caput.

The motor is a Baldor 25hp, 230/460v, 3PH, drawing 64amps @ 230 and 32 amps @ 460

Tank circumference is 97", seam to seam is 54" which equates to about 200gallon tank volume.

The unit is 72" tall, 78" wide, and 38" deep so this is not a garage compressor, this is an INDUSTRIAL duty beast!

64 amps @ 230 three-phase? Holy ****.

But...purple. Why? Barney wasn't popular when that was built, was he?

Was the compressor in WV? I'm not too far from DC myself, and I'd be interested in where you found that monster.

The Irwin 2078720 Metric Adjusting Wrench Tray Set - 6 Inch, 8 Inch, 10 Inch, 12 Inch are now $14.99 at Amazon with free Prime shipping.

I think the price dropped a couple of bucks from yesterday.

Are they high quality bits in terms of durability as well? Or is it the sheer quantity that makes it a great bargain?

Quality makes it a bargain. The quantity can be had for $24 at Harbor Freight, and less elsewhere.

Linky to HF

$39.99 regular price, goes on sale for $29.99, then use 20% off coupon. I have this set myself already, but still bought the PT set.

I'm also looking for a reason to buy the irwin adjustables. But I'm confused. They have discrete stops, and only work on metric fasteners. Isn't half the point of an adjustable that you don't care if it's sae or metric, or whether or not you have the wrench (or discrete stop) to fit it, you can adjust to whatever? They may be 2x faster to adjust it, but if you need to buy 2 sets, store twice the wrenches, and half the time try both before you find the right one (if you don't know if it's a metric or standard fastener), sounds like it's going to take more than 2x as long in a lot of cases? I mean, if I know what size the fastener is, or whether it's metric or sae, I'll just grab the appropriate wrench?

I want to buy them, it's a good deal, I just can't figure out when or how I would use them? Is there any good reason for me to give up my regular adjustables for these?

Precision makes good drills and Huot makes good indexes.

But hurry because I just bought two sets.

Wera Zyklop ratchet deals

pj_rage, regarding the metric adjustable wrenches, they're great for those that primarily work with metric fasteners. If you encounter SAE fasteners half the time or more, then it might be best for you to pass on the deal.

Here's info about the Irwin metric wrench deal from a few pages back in case newcomers are interested.

The Zyklops have been down to just over $50 for a few weeks now. I suspect they are trying to compete with the pricing at chad's.

How are you going to get that thing out of there ? Remove the motor, then the pump, then eat your spinach. Good luck.

A combination of chains, cumalongs and BFFI!

Found at a government auctiion, its at the Rosewood Mental hospital outside of Balitmore and was on Ghost hunters. The place is truly creeeeeeeeeepy. We had to go to five different buildings to "find" the second compressor, very wierd walking thru halways and seeing rooms labled "Treatment Room"

This one was in the boiler building and I kid you not when you walk in the building the temp drops 20 degrees and the hair on your neck stands up. As far as the purple goes who knows, some Gov maint guy must have been bored, stupid, or both however it looks like it will come off since the Quincy blue is baked on I think a light bead blast will remove this quite easily.

I heard that back in the day, that thing could run 50 Venturi actuated Power Enemas all at one time...

That was, until the enema manifold blew...

Thanks for the headsup on the Zyklop deal.... have been looking at those since my ratchet obsession started, but couldn't stomach the price. Now, 1/2"er is on it's way.

Thanks again!
You're very welcome!

The Koloss was $65 the other day and I waited too long to mention, and it practically doubled in price since then.

The Koloss plus extension handle = a monstrous ratchet.

But be warned, Amazon deal hunting can get addicting.

It could be, but it's hard to tell. Is there a worker at Amazon that adjusts prices on individual products like this based on competitors' pricing? Who knows. Maybe Wera gave them the go-ahead?

These seem like a nice deal. $30.00 for Gorilla 5 tier shelving at ACE.
115960_ace1.jpg

I have a ton of those Gorilla shelving units, picked up a pallet for next to nothing; I don't like how they join the 2pc uprights, they just give you little tabs and in some boxes I've found no tabs at all. It would be much more secure if they had an angled joint plate. I've used mechanic's wire or small zip-ties to secure the mid-joint further. Also, the particleboard shelves are thin and some I've found to be cut incorrectly.

Guess I got mine for pennies for a reason.

thanks to stuey and his program on his site i found these on amazon

pb swiss, bigger then most need, but good deals.

I regret I didn't get more of the PB Swiss mallets when I had the chance back in the days of the first round of really crazy pricing. I keep waiting for Armstrong deadblows to go down in price on amazon or msc but no dice. MSC ran a deal a few years ago and had super cheap pricing on a range of the Armstrong deadblows, and they've proven to be quality tools.

Girlfriend had these in her old garage.... joined em using the shelves themselves (bridge the gap... one tab in upper bracket, one in lower) seemed super solid....

Amazon via Woot has a Hitachi RB24EAP 170 MPH Gas Powered Handheld Blower for $99.99 with free shipping. There is also a $30 rebate which makes it $70 AR. I bought it last week from Toolking for $130 and it works great. Starts first pull.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003VYC31Q/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Here is a review on the blower. http://www.leafblower-ratings.org/best-leaf-blower/

Hi,

I cannot find the rebate info...they have a $30 rebate on their chainsaw only. Where did you hear about a $30 rebate for the handheld blower?

thanks for the info.

These are the nicest long nose, long reach pliers I've ever used. The have serrated jaws but the serrations are cut on the diagonal and revered on the opposite jaw. That means they grip at any angle. (unlike Knipex)

They're on closeout at Klein for $10. Get multiple sets to amortize the cost of shipping.

If you order $50+ dollars worth of merchandise you get a free halloween bag with klein logo and some spooky pumpkins on it hahaha

Any other deals on tools on the site at the moment? I could use a few pairs of those at work. But I'd rather help amortize shipping even more, if possible.

This looks like a great price on an 18" Adjustable at $21.99 if you don't mind the black oxide finish:
https://www.kleinconnection.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product2_10001_10001_-1_17883_23351?
A Western Forge 18" at Harry Epstein's is $55 while a Harbor Freight 18"er is $17.99 right now. I have always heard good things about Klein adjustable but I have never used one myself.

/\ Yes, that certainly does seem to be a good price. To my knowledge, Klein's adjustable wrenches are made in house and are not re-branded.

Darn, I missed adding that to my cart and it's a killer deal. I didn't notice it was the 18" monster.

That's <1/3 the price of an equivalent 18" Crescent on Amazon.
