Yeah it's tough when what seems like 80+% of the "deals" posted here are actually mistakes and not actually deals. So many people place orders for the "deal" that even without contacting the company directly, it alerts them to something being fishy. When a product normally sells a few per day suddenly sells a couple hundred to different people in a single day, I think they already get suspicious.
I definitely give props and thanks to the people who share the ones they think are mistakes, even though the act of sharing them probably means it won't go through.

No, I meant that if people are going to ***** and moan about a guy doing the ethical thing (reporting the error), I don't have any interest in trying to be nice to them.
They need to re-think their position. Hand the guy behind the counter two $20s when you thought you only handed him one. You'd like him to go "Hey, I don't think you meant to give me this second $20" rather than just pocketing his good fortune, wouldn't you?

So you're telling me you've never ended up with an error in your favor? You've never benefitted from a company making a mistake? I find that very hard to believe.
If an item rang up lower than the sale price at the grocery store, would you drive back there and alert them that they needed to charge you more?

It depends on the item. $0.50 is no big deal. $50.00 IS a big deal. I don't want some poor kid to lose his job.

Have had that happen before and I have in fact corrected it. If I see a mistake, I get them to fix it. The only limitation is if it'll cost me more in gas to go back than the pricing difference, I'm not that charitable. Well, and I've also had one where the people at the store were too stupid to realize they'd made a mistake and I was trying to give money back to them.
Again, think about it happening to you: if you accidentally gave someone an extra $20, you'd like it if they gave it back to you, wouldn't you?

It looks like Advance Auto Parts has pulled a fast one by removing the 50% off posted price on the Mechanix gloves on-line. The mailed sale flyer indicated that the discount would begin on 9/29 and would continue till 10/26 "while supplies last". I had two pairs in my cart this past weekend bundled with some other supplies to take advantage of one of their additional discount codes. I had planned to place an order for store pickup, and the 50% discount and the additional A123 code discount was applied. I removed them from my cart because I knew I wouldn't be able to pick the items up at the stores where they were available till late this week. I thought that the ample local supply and the offer running till 10/26 would still give me plenty of time to resubmit the order. I went to place the order today and the on-line discount price was gone. A "chat" with AAP customer service was like chatting with a wall. It seems that customer service reps have no idea what's going on on-line or in their mailings. This isn't the first time something like this has happened with AAP on-line. I've had stuff removed from my cart a few hours after keeping items there on hold. Almost sounds like dealing with Sears.

We all have morals shaped by life experiences and often have to make decisions in our own gray area. If a casher gives you back more change than due they may be responsible for the shortage but what happens when an online seller mistakenly underprices an item. I can live with taking advantage of an online price mistake but not a casher. Morally both situations are the same. Life experiences shapes the difference for me and I try not to judge others on situations like this.
Had a great deal ordering some auto parts - got $100 set of rocker panel trim pieces I didn't order or pay for along with the other parts I did order and pay for - called them and let them know - they sent a call tag to pick it up. It's the right thing to do - not to mention KARMA! A great online price, I will take it for face value and act on it if I want it. If they ship it great - if it's a mistake then let me know and cancel the deal. Don't think I would call and ask if it's for real or a mistake first though if it's a reputable seller.

I think often times its not so much that amazon.com actually has a "price mistake" as much as purposely pricing an item lower to generate interest (like on this forum) and then the price shoots back up. I think third party sellers use this tactic too, only amazon direct usually won't cancel your order, they will just place it on backorder until it is back in stock. Third party vendors however will usually just cancel your order or ship you something significuntly less appealing by "mistake".

I was raised that you shouldn't take advantage of people. I like to think that most of you were raised the same. So I try to treat others like I expect to be treated. If I don't get all my change back at the grocery store I might go back. The same goes true if I get too much. My time has a value so I weigh the amount of the error versus how much was owed to me. The distance I have to drive is also factored in. If there is a member of the "newer" generation involved I ALWAYS return because they need the lesson.
There was a thread about this a while back. If you are really interested I'd suggest that you search for it.
Now that I've had my say let's go back to the deals.

At one time I was a prolific poster of deals. It didn't matter if the deal was valid or a mistake, I posted. Many of you took advantage of the deals I found, but there were a few who caused a ruckus because a deal didn't go through. Consequently I stopped posting many of the deals I find.
A deal is a deal, whether it's a mistake or not. It is up to the individual to decided whether it's worth the aggravation to jump.
I don't think this thread is a valid venue to dispute morals, ethics, or routine banter concerning these deals.
If you like a deal, then by all means jump. And jump fast.
If you don't like a deal, just pass it up and go about your day.

The deep sets are the best deals. I've been watching for awhile and the lowest prices i've seen lately was $35 a set. They are normally $50 a set.

Looking at the Product Description for them, I see they note that they are 'fully assembled'. I have found over the years that this is a really nice feature for sockets.

That is pretty funny, I didn't notice that before. I've been waiting for the 6pt deep sockets for awhile now, at this price I had to order.

Just picked mine up, the ones I got were USA made. Hope the same is true for you. If not, and you are doing store pickup, it is worth walking into the store to see if they have a set that is US-made on the racks. I've been able to do that before, although the 'exchange' was a bit of a challenge for the cashier. But that's Sears.
