Alrighty, lets get this started! I purchased my home in So. California just about a year ago. My job takes me all over the world and unfortunately, I am not home alot to mess around with the place, but I finally got to do what I always wanted so here is my renovation.

This is the state I purchased it in. It was built in 1964, and it was never touched. All original, bare studs and not much more...

I had moved alot of my stuff into it, just to get things going, but I knew it had to change. Lots of clutter and unorganization due to lack of storage.

Went out, bought the drywall and all the goods to get it done. Here is right after I got the first wall hung

Second wall hung, I didnt get a pic of the third wall hung but you get the idea.

Taped off and compounded. You may also notice that i hung some more shelving rails on the right side wall.

Turned myself into an antique and dusted pretty much everything in my garage and driveway with the ol orbital sander. Luckily, the seams and screw holes looked good enough to spray some texture and prep for paint.

Paint should be on the list to do tomorrow or the next day... Hope you like what you see so far. Keep posted for changes!!!

Nice start, and yes, Nice truck indeed.

I've slowly been doing similar and found the old leaf blower handy for de-dusting.

This is the way my garage is that is attached to my house, that was built in 1951. I need to do what you did. And you did a super job on yours...... Keep up the good work. Don't forget to invite us all over for the Bar-B-Que when you get done. Good luck.

Looks great. Think about putting in 1 x 6 pressure treated base board to minimize the damage to the bottom of the drywall. Maybe even cut an inch off the bottom of the drywall. I hose my garage out and wouldn't want the drywall soaking up water.

Thanks guys! I am soo pleased with how this is turning out right now. Im actually about to go out and start laying out for the color. I ran out of texture last night, so a couple mire cans should do the trick. I like the suggestion for the 1x6 trim around the bottom... I might have to look into that when I go to HD.

Stay tuned guys! Color is coming

There is my build thread so far...

I see no mention of insulation. Do you not need it in SoCal?
I didnt do any insulation, I usually work with the door open and I didnt think it was really that neccessary

I reinforced it with another 2x4.

Here are some pics from today... I got slowed down and didnt get it completely finished
