Amazon's posting a ton of "Lightning Deals" this week (similar setup to a "Woot Off", I guess - limited time, limited quantity of them available).

Their "Save **%!!" can be deceptive, though - make sure you click-through to see what they normally offer it for, as the advertised percentage off is commonly showing the percentage off of list price, not normal Amazon price.

Not saying that there aren't deals, but I almost picked up an item that I really didn't NEED right now, thinking it was a stupendous deal, when normally it's only a few bucks more, and I can afford to wait.

Craftsman 40 pc. Tap and Die Set, Master Rethreader $38.24 + tax.

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00952105000P

Same set as the Kastar 972 thread restore/chaser set and made in the USA.

I added a $3.79 socket and was able to apply the SEARS2011 code so my total was $39.25 after tax with in-store pick up.

The price break down is taking 15% off then 10% off. Turns out to be about 22% off, this works on most full price items. Add it to the cart to see the discounts.

Promo code Sears2011 doesn't seem to be working anymore.

That same sears deal works on the 3/8 swivel socket set, I got it down from 54.99 to 38.24 for a set! I'm sure there's lots of stuff it'll work on, just gotta find them.

It's still working. You have to have $50 in your cart, AFTER all other applicable discounts, and then you'll get the $5 off.

Sometimes the $5 off $50 comes off first.

It will not work on certain sale items, such as when a price is pre-determined. If the sale says "wrench set for $54", then the coupon might not work. On the other hand, if it says "wrench set for $60 - 10% off = $54", then the coupon should work.

For Discover credit card only, specifically regarding Sears.

This has been covered before but with the Holiday sales just beginning I think it would be good to repeat:
Discover Cash Back is at 15% for Sears right now (and will vary between 5%-20% over the holidays) and if you go to Sears through the Discover "Participating Merchants" link via the Discover web site BEFORE you add/search/checkout and THEN enter a coupon code you will get the additional 15% cash back in your next Discover statement. This will not affect the Sears sale prices and you can usually combine this with any ONE coupon code for some significant savings from Sears in particular.
For example, I need another thread chaser set and I looked at the one from Sears from a page back and decided to buy it. I closed the Sears webpage (you might want to clear all browser cookies via your Internet Tools tab) then opened my Discover account website -> clicked on the "Participating Merchants" link -> got to the Sears offer link -> clicked on "Shop Sears Now" link -> this opened the Sears website -> searched for the tread chaser -> put it in my cart for in-store pickup -> added one other wrench to bring the total over $50 AFTER all Sears discounts are applied -> clicked on "Check Out" -> entered the appropriate Sears coupon code at the bottom of the page -> finished checking out. I received the $5 off $50 purchase, all Sears discounts, and will receive 15% of the purchase total in my next Discover statement.
I have found that if your cart does not reflect the total savings from Sears you should clear your browser cookies and start over until it does because dealing with Sears online customer service after the fact is problematic at best.
Hope this helps.

from my former experience with discover, i never get the cash back. Maybe because i put something in chart before I went through the discover link?

Thanks for those Discover card tips. I'm Discovers most hated type of card holder. They have paid me more money than I have paid them.

Scored on the Ridgid drill press hot deal ---NJ Home Depot. Thanks for the heads up on that one!!!!

$76.62 out the door. Stock showed zero at the store so I started snooping around and saw a dusty box on a 3rd tier. Sure enough - that was it..... When the guy rang it up, he was in disbelief and checked with a manager who then carefully went over the box looking for a reason not to sell it - LOL!!

You have to look yourself - their stock system is screwed up.....

$39.99, a good deal>?

not sure, there are only 8 metric wrenches in the set...

It's not bad. I just checked the price of a 12-piece and it's $120. Granted those extra 4-pieces are large sizes, this is an okay deal. Not screaming-hot, but it is $20-$30 off the regular price.

I'm a fan of X-Beams, but I've got more than enough ratcheting wrenches.

I just heard back from pbtools.us. They are not having the 30% off promotion this year. They are offering free shipping and a t-shirt. Lame.

Anyone seen a good deal on a 3/8" square drive impact wrench....probably a 12V version?

Maybe a Dewalt or Makita Max? Or similar?

And it looks just like the Snap on one I think I paid over $100.00 a number of years ago.

Lindstrom RX 8150 flush cutters. Seems to have a ton of them. Accepted my offer of $12 (shipped!). This is a smoking hot deal. If you don't need them, they're top of the line if your wife/gf is into jewelry or beading.

And if the cute girl behind the counter was to accept the hf 20% off them the price would be just under $60. CRAZY!

That is probably the problem. I have gotten the cash back after just closing the Sears website, making sure I don't have anything in my cart, and opening the Discover website and going through them to Sears again and then adding the items and checking out. Some people have to clear their browser cookies before going through Discover. My browser is FireFox FWIW.

Not sure if the HD Black Friday ad was out or not (I heard it wasn't) I was snooping around looking for a drill press (by the way is it in a big box or is some assembly required?) and I noticed alot of upper racks had pallets with pink tags saying Black Friday yada yada. So you can atleast get an idea of what it is, not so much prices though.

The drill press box is pretty big and heavy. I don't have it in front of me, but maybe 5 feet tall, 30 inches wide, and a foot deep? It's mostly white cardboard with the ridgid logo and I believe an outline/picture of the drill press on it. Has to weight at least 150 pounds. Unless I'm just getting weaker, ha!
